Obscure record?

XBRONX : 10/16/2017 1:18 pm
Wonder what the NFL record is for least completed passes to WR's for a winning team.
Eli's 19 pass attempts
upstatenyg : 10/16/2017 1:23 pm : link
were the fewest of his career.

Actually, he was 7-15 in Week 16 against Buffalo in 2007.
Alex Smith has been on a few winning teams in his career
NoPeanutz : 10/16/2017 1:27 pm : link
with KC and SF, and that guy never gets the balls to the WRs.
nice correction

In the NFC Championship game, Alex Smith only completed 1 pass to a Wide Reciever, and that was on the last give up play of regulation.
Alex Smith went a whole season

without a TD pass to a WR. That's amazing.
In 1973 the Dolphins won a game 44-23 over NE
Greg from LI : 10/16/2017 2:11 pm : link
and Bob Griese only went 8-12 for 53 yards....because they ran for 301 yards. Only three of the eight receptions were by a WR.
My guess would be 0

Winning a game without completing a pass to a WR must have been done and done more than once.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Rexy-Nacho Jets
NoPeanutz : 10/16/2017 2:35 pm : link
have done it.
Ground and Pound and all that.
I am sure there have been some bad weather games
larryflower37 : 10/16/2017 2:37 pm : link
Where it was zero
Archie Manning had one
Greg from LI : 10/16/2017 2:39 pm : link
Completed 7 passes, all to TEs and RBs, in a 19-3 win over the Redskins in 1973.
Link - ( New Window )
Phil Simms completed "only" 9 passes
BlackLight : 10/16/2017 3:02 pm : link
in the '86 divisional playoff game against San Francisco.

Holy shit, that's unreal! Can't believe I missed that at the time, and had never heard of it since.
Nine passes....
Greg from LI : 10/16/2017 3:34 pm : link
...but four of them were touchdowns.

He also completed only 7-14 for 90 yards in the NFC title game against Washington.

Jeff Hostetler was 10-17, 112, 2 TDs in the 31-3 playoff win over the Bears in 1990.
Modern day NFL - Tebow threw 8 passes for a victory
jcn56 : 10/16/2017 3:45 pm : link
and a 100 passer rating!

Side note - Cleveland Browns back in 1950 won a game without attempting a pass.
Everyone is so concerned with his stats
djstat : 10/16/2017 4:55 pm : link
they won the game by 13. F'ing Celebrate

Warner/Eli went a whole season with 1 TD pass to a WR (Tim Carter) and 0 to starting WRs in 2004.
Stats
thomasa510 : 10/16/2017 7:36 pm : link
Stats are so misleading sometimes.

A poor defense often means bloated stats for a QB while the wco bloats comp percentageZ.

Thought Eli had a pretty good game yesterday

Think he only tossed 7 in a SB against the Viks in 73?
The whole second half we were controling field position and working
PatersonPlank : 10/16/2017 7:40 pm : link
the clock. Eli played it as he should have, and did it well. Just shows that "fantasy stats" can be meaningless.
