Is this the first game the team has won without OBJ?

joe48 : 10/16/2017 3:11 pm
Just curious because even though we only had 12 first downs it was good to see them win and play complimentary football. It will be interesting to see how they fare the rest of the way. If they can win more than a few I also think it gives the team a little leverage when they negotiate with OBJ.
He about to

I've Long Hated How Fans Point To That Game in Minnesota...

That OBJ missed as a "perfect" example of what the Giants chances would be in ANY game without OBJ.

What they don't realize (or remember) is that...

1. The Giants slim playoff chances had just been crushed when the Skins won their game.

2. The Vikings really needed to win the game to stay in contention for the division.

3. It was f**king cold in Minnesota that night.

A team that has just been eliminated, playing a road game in frigid conditions, against a playoff-bound team that really needs to win...is not exactly an ideal way to measure how much the Giants would miss OBJ in a "normal" game.
Imagine the score

If they had him
No

they went 2-2 without him in 2014.
The offense scored 16 points, had 12 first downs, and only completed 2

passes to WRs without him. They had a paltry 266 total yards without him.

Unless Beckham is somehow a cancer to the defense's performance (he's not), him not playing last night isn't something that helped them and it won't help them going forward.
UM, OBJ was there.

I saw his helmet on the sidelines.
The Giants were one of five teams that joined the NFL in 1925

And this is their first win ever.

Savor it!
You mean "complementary football" I think

Because the Giants won without him?
If the Giants don't make him the highest paid WR

I hope we are not the team that makes him a $20M receiver.
Stop it

They played one of the best defenses in football on their home turf. They actually ran the ball and had a greater time of posession, keeping their D off the field. It was also the first week with literally a whole new receiving corp against one of the best secondarys in football. It was also nice to watch a game where it was about the Giants, not about Odell. This is not to say you don’t need good receivers, they certainly help. However, you don’t want your whole offense to be predicated on 1 receiver. Not a consistent recipe for success

Someone has to call his number and it's the guy calling the plays we would have been 500 or less last year without him
The stats are very telling for the game . Without that pick
six I doubt we would have run the ball as much as we did .
When you keep sending your best player on slants where you
have 3-4 players waiting to clobber him bad things are
bound to happen . We got a win lets see how this unfolds .
