who knows how that works out? Collins hardly missed a snap, much less a start, until 2003, and assuming nothing changes, it's fair to wonder if Brady would survive the roster turnover after Coughlin gets hired.
But Brady is Brady, and I believe with or without Belichick, he'd have been great and would have done well with the NYG.
Who the hell knows? is the proper response, though. lol
If I did have a time machine and we could go back and grab him then, though, I really don't think I'd do it, knowing what I know about the NYG and Eli. Sure, there's a chance we could end up with as many rings, and even an extra one, but honestly, as spotty as the team's successes have been, I would not trade away the raw, unmatched joy of the two most recent Super Bowl wins with Eli, all things factored.
Odds would be good Collins stays as quarterback barring injury. He got a high ankle sprain in 2003 which forced his backup to start.
Brady's first start would have been the Saints game (Joe Horn cell phone incident). He certainly would have fared better than Jesse Palmer, but would he have shown enough to keep the Giants from signing Warner and trading for Eli that offseason?
would we have another (and again, I realize with history available this is hyperbole, but maybe you get the point) Webb situation, where we are overlooking this guy who has done every right, is a film room guy and a gym rat, just because there are some shiny things in the upcoming draft? Never know.
In the alternate timeline where we do draft Brady Â
Coming out of Michigan where he split the QB duties, Brady wasn't all that highly regarded. Here is one of the draft profiles:
Positives: Good height to see the field. Very poised and composed. Smart and alert. Can read coverages. Good accuracy and touch. Produces in big spots and in big games. Has some Brian Griese in him and is a gamer. Generally plays within himself. Team leader.
Negatives: Poor build. Very skinny and narrow. Ended the '99 season weighing 195 pounds and still looks like a rail at 211. Looks a little frail and lacks great physical stature and strength. Can get pushed down more easily than you'd like. Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush. Lacks a really strong arm. Can't drive the ball down the field and does not throw a really tight spiral. System-type player who can get exposed if he must ad-lib and do things on his own.
Summary: Is not what you're looking for in terms of physical stature, strength, arm strength and mobility, but he has the intangibles and production and showed great Griese-like improvement as a senior. Could make it in the right system but will not be for everyone.
Same thing would have happened here imo

But he isnt saying it. EA said the guy did so that has merit.
cause thats how we roll
It's his overall record that counts. For all we know, that Brady suggestion was the only thing he was ever right about.

You pushed hard for a QB 17 years ago.

you're not following -
He is saying that it's easy for BBI poster Phil in LA to say that

Perfectly happy with how things worked out.

2019. Eli retires at 38 and Brady at 42 gets pushed out for either Garrapolo or a new hot prospect.
Brady wants one more go and comes to the Giants on a 2 year deal to finish out his career while a youngster is groomed.
