Notable cuts:
Wade Baldwin, a 17th overall pick last year (long armed combo guard from Vandy) was cut
Same for Jameer Nelson
NYK cast off Marshall Plumlee
Cameron Oliver
Gerald Green

Around the league, my opinion:
While the Spurs deserve the benefit of the doubt, this is the least impressive roster I've seen for them in a long time. Add to that the injury woes to Leonard/Parker and this team is at risk of a slide versus usual success.
To a lesser extent in terms of success rate in years past, the Grizz also have a roster that is full of holes.
Give me Minny's trio of KAT, Butler and Wiggins over OKCs any day of the week. I just don't see the OKC experiment working, especially in tight games.
Denver will be a fun team to watch. Excellent passing team.
Milwaukee strikes me as a team that can finish as high as 3 in the east after CLE and BOS.
If Gallinari can stay healthy (always a big if), LAC should be able to come close to maintaining their 4-5 seed in the west.
What's the over/under for games played by Embiid this season... 40? 50?
Considering the numbers Chris Duhon and Jeremy Lin put up in a MDA offense, Chris Paul might be the first guy since Stockton to average 12-14 assists per game.

I doubt it. Harden likely handles the ball enough to hold Paul's numbers down and if MDA is smart he will try and keep Paul fresh for the post-season.

I'd rather take shots on guys like this instead of keeping Beasley around.

and Oliver are 100% worth looks. Baldwin was awful as a rookie but again, the Knicks should be cycling these types in and out. Oliver not making the Rockets (with a broken hand) isn't exactly a condemnation of his talent.

I admittedly don't know a ton about Baldwin other than him being a local kid who was picked 16th overall but he wasn't viewed as a reach at the time. He shot a truly HORRENDOUS 14% from 3 this year but was a career 42% 3 point shooter at Vandy so unless there is some strange injury I don't know about the guy has shown he can shoot. He has a good defensive rep (per his pre draft reports) but isn't considered a great athlete. I think he's worth bringing in. Keep in mind he's only 21.
Oliver is a guy I liked pre-draft he's a bit of a tweener but is athletic and can fill multiple roles. I believe both would be worth looks.
rotation could be Sessions/Baker at lead guard until Frank earns minutes; when he does, Baker can slide to be Hardaway's back-up
that's if they thing Baldwin has talent to develop

jack is most likely gone once noah's suspension is over..
PLus a 7' wingspan.

jaylen brown and tatum both have to prove it and for this celtics team to be better they have to defend like bradley and crowder...
bradley allowed thomas to concentrate solely on offense..
bradley is going to be severely missed in boston
Simmons is a beast. Fultz concerns me a bit (health) and Embiid's health is a concern but they are going to be a fun team.
I love Embiid. I love the dude. The elephant in the room is health. He's apparently pissed they're putting him on a minutes restriction.
What is this talk of Fultz altering his shot this summer?

He hurt his shoulder and altered his shot and it's currently very, very ugly. I said last year I'd have Simmons the clear #1 overall pick in the 2017 draft if he were in it and I was surprised by the pushback. Kid is a monster in the making.
Sums up my feelings on the league, though I am interested in some of the young players and teams. Once again the tank race will be the most intriguing regular season storyline.

Brown's defense is really the least of my concerns with him. He has to elevate the rest of his game and his body needs to continue to mature. Tatum isn't even going to scratch the surface this season, so it's too soon to put major expectations on him as a rookie. I just think he's going to be a wonderful player. Kyrie is no defensive wizard, but he also won't carry the same offensive burden IT did with Hayward in BOS now. I love that group, but concede that they're probably won't be mature/experienced enough to beat the Cavs in a series this year.
I don't like the fit of IT with that Cleveland team nor do I like the idea of Kevin Love playing center even if it's for a few minutes every 1st and 3rd quarter.

The question is is Brown ready to be a full time starter? He need to produce on both ends consistently ... he is being thrown into the fire Tatum is only starting now due to injury.
A true rotation big still needs to be picked up.
The gel process of course is in the forefront....revisited at the All-Star break

if you expect kyrie to be anywhere close to what bradley was defensively you are in for a very rude awakening
That's too many. #loseforluca
NOOOO!!! #playbadlyforbagley
Hawks should be bad (though Coach Bud is excellent), Pacers don't figure to be very good.
KP takes a big step forward in his development.
Lakers/Kings also play a much more challenging schedule in the West which could lead to the Knicks picking up a few extra wins against the bottom East teams.
nice! But I think we can go lower. Gotta sell off anything that isn't nailed down...

plays D consistently ... that mitigates losing AB ... Kyrie can score just as well as IT.

Kyrie is replacing IT I expect him to be better and more consistent than him ... Jaylen, Morris, Tatum and Bynes collectively need to offset Crowder and AB
It’s not as though he’ll be facing stiff competition while he’s here. Scanning the depth chart, there’s offensively slick Willy Hernangomez, who posted a DRPM of 0.40, good for 50th among all 61 centers listed. Shiny new addition Enes Kanter posted a DRPM of -1..24, placing him 59th among the 61 centers listed. One of the critiques made of Kanter is that he’s a Willy who costs 12 times as much only to be even worse at defense. Kanter, for all his canny intuition and footwork when rebounding and scoring on one side of the floor, might be the most defensively demented center in the NBA. So severe is the liability, Kanter saw his minutes halved once the Thunder hit the postseason last year, dropping from 21.3 minutes a game to 9.0 minutes a game. In fairness, “This guy’s unplayable in the playoffs” isn’t much of problem on this Knicks squad, but still.
