At kickoff Sunday night, the Vegas line on Giants-Broncos went up to 13 1/2 points. I started thinking about it this morning and couldn't think of any other game the Giants had ever won when they were such prohibitive underdogs. The closest two that came to mind were Super Bowl XLII against Patriots (Giants were 12 point underdogs) and, December 13, 1998 when the Giants were 13 point underdogs at home against the Broncos who had come in winning 18 straight (the Kent Graham-to-Armani Toomer game).
Sunday night was absolutely remarkable when you think about it. 0-5 Giants, in complete turmoil with the worst rushing attack in the NFL, traveling out west without their four top wide receivers, a defensive captain (Casillas), their top defensive end (Vernon) and one of their best corners (Cromartie) beating one of the best home teams and the top defense in the NFL coming off a bye.
That's why they play the games I guess. Can anyone think of a greater upset victory (by point spread) in the history of the Giants?
If we're talking purely point spread, then yeah, I guess.
But magnitude? 18-0 in the Superbowl can't be topped.

I agree. Point spread is for betting and evening the money.
Pure upset - SB XLII.
They were 12 point underdogs.
And then there is this...

I think Gmen were 13.5 dog
They were 12 point underdogs.
just checked, it was 12.5. I remember though it opened as "2 touchdowns" or close to it.
Was at that game sitting in that endzone! Top 5 moment for me at a Giants game for sure. I think Ron Dixon returning opening kick against the Eagles in 2000 divisional game is #1 moment for me. That's off topic but I just thought of it now, that was the loudest I EVER heard that stadium. Could literally FEEL the noise around you it was insane. Good memories.
