I still say we fire the guy.
Hear me out. If thats all it took to get our boys to win the games, then he lets his pride get in the way of the team. He has a staff helping him with this and he needs to listen.
Something changed this weekend that people still cant put their finger on. I mean yes they clearly ran the ball well against a team that shut down Elliott. And Denver was supposed to annihilate this team. But the fact that it was the other way around is mindboggling.
But if its the changes that were made that helps them now win games, then he doesnt know how to coach well and its a wasted effort being that they are 1-5 and we could have had a better record.
in with that i would still fire him.
your thoughts
Good on him giving up play calling. I'm actually looking forward to watching a team not reliant on a self-absorved WR. Run the ball, play good defense, and let's see where we end up.
But we could run the ball, obviously played great D, had solid special teams and did not turn the ball over.
I remain unconvinced about our OL and ability to consistently run the ball. Still too many negative runs. But, that is the formula for us going forward. We get DRC back and OV on D, Shepard on O, we could certainly go on a run provided the other things happen. Very winnable games coming up...
Pugh is the best tackle on this roster. While Pugh is good, that's more an indictment of the roster than it is anything else.
If we can continue Sunday's formula, while sprinkling in Shep, and some of the young WRs, I think this season is salvagable. By that, I mean 8-8 -9-7. May be good enough to sneak into the playoffs in a wide open NFC.
It is very possible Denver expected a walkover (I sure did) and didn't come out to play, and the Giants were pissed.
Let's see where we go from here. Did this right the ship, or was this just an air pocket that slowed its sinking. We need to see. We win 8 more games for 9-7, that's impressive. We lose 5 more in a row, not so good.
The Cowboys, Lions and Eagles slapped them around in the battle of the fronts . I think this was particularly evident with the play of the offensive line. These guys were simply getting their two balls handed to them on an ongoing basis. You saw a more physical Gisnt team playing in Denver.
One of the mods on this board made it a point to credit McAdoo with a huge victory because they emerged from pre-season relatively healthy . But they weren't, in my opinion , ready for the arduous toil that represents full contact. In this sense, he failed his team. The victory was pyrrhic. He must not allow that to happen again.
Every argument and riposte turns to Belichick. As far as I know, they remain the only team that tackles down during practice (from time to time ), once the season is underway.
The NFL has changed mostly in the sense that safeties can no longer kill receivers. It's not exactly Crunch Course anymore , but it remains a physical game of strength, leverage, stamina and will.
In my opinion , Ben McAdoo did not have his team ready to start the season . They are now up to snuff . But the season is over as far as making the playoffs . He's a bright guy. Learn from it.
Some good signs, but a few questions raised. So you have to wait and see, especially with the Giants. If the season ended today no way would the Maras fire him.
if that were to happen, i would be pissed.

Seattle absolutely tackles in practice during the season. I would wager they do in Atlanta as well given the tree.
Great timing guys! Let's shit all over any good feelings the fans might have and let's just switch the season off now. Winning streak possible? Doesn't matter....fire everyone.
I have obliterated McAdoo all season long. Now isn't the time to kill the guy. Fuck man...can we enjoy one fucking win and maybe hold out a little hope? Or is that asking too much...
I'm not sure I would be pissed about that or if it would be reasonable to be pissed about that
It’s been discussed over and over. Running game was bad. OL is a weak spot. They bring in Ellison. Keep Smith and he runs 3 WRs over and over. His biggest offensive concept. Throw it to OBJ. Make teams account for OBJ. Well without him now he fianlly decides to let Sullivan call the game?
He adjusted because he had no choice. Failure to be able to critically analyze oneself is a fault. His offense sucks. Andy Reid adjusted his offense. Belichick Adjusts his when needed. This guy didn’t nothing all last year and nothing this year until his top 3 WRs went down. Then the run game is important? Now it’s time to use Ellison?
He had a whole off season to adjust the offense. That shows something. One week and one win are hardly signs of some big change in him
One thing that I've admired about McAdoo is his apparent desire to develop his young players, sticking with them despite some poor play. He got away with it last year, despite the terrible play of our young OTs. If those guys become competent players he should get some credit for doing that. But it sure has cost them this season.
In any case, if Reese is fired you'd likely want to have the new GM select his own coach.
Having said that, I tend to see this game as not so different from the previous three. Yes, we got the win. Yes, we had some improvements overall. But generally this win was similar in many ways to our previous 3 games, where we had leads in the fourth quarter.
If you look closely at what Denver is saying, they realize that although they lost by 13 they actually were much closer to winning this game than the score indicates. We finally got some very important big breaks this week.
You can pick five plays that were the difference between the win and a loss this week.
1. The pick-six by Jackrabbit. We've had a couple of opportunities for those this year that we just missed. Missing this one play would have made a big difference.
2. The fourth and goal on-field ruling of short. After the review the officials couldn't find enough evidence to confirm or overturn the call on the field. Had an official determined that the ball crossed the plane (and it may have) that's 7 points for DEN and changes again the momentum.
3. Either of the missed field goals by DEN. Easily he could have kicked not one, but two field goals this night.
4. 47-yard run. This was a great play by NYG, but if DEN maintains gap integrity this play doesn't happen and who knows if we are able to drive downfield for points.
5. Strip-fumble by Janoris Jenkins. This single play was game-altering.
Again, not trying to ruin the fun of the victory, but Philly needed more than a few breaks to beat us, as did LAC and TB. We were within a few plays of victory in those games, just like DEN was within a few plays of victory against us.
To conclude, don't just overreact to wins and losses. Try to see the games for what they are. We have been in four very close games and lost three of them. We could have lost the fourth very easily, just as we could have won any of the previous three. Evaluate the coach overall, not just on W/L record.
