NFT: Game 4 - ALCS - Yankees vs Astros from The Stadium - 5p FS1

B in ALB : 10/17/2017 1:42 pm
Here we go ladies. Huge game this afternoon. Absolutely huge. Win and it's all tied up. Lose and the Yankees are playing the elimination game.

Great call by Mr. Shock with the Romine insertion. He'll be behind the dish for Gray and Sanchez will DH. I like it. Here's the pitching matchup - no lineup out for Houston yet - but it's time to get it the fuck on.

Castro is as big a waste of talent as I've ever seen

A ton of ability yet the focus of a nursery school kid. This is why the Cubs have him away for a middle reliever.
Save us Gleyber Torres

3 errors tonight. Insane.
Sony throws 5 innings of 1 hit ball
Stu11 : 10/17/2017 7:30 pm : link
And we send exactly on hitter over the minimum to the plate over 6 innings and its Sony's fault. Lol
5-4-3 double play
dpinzow : 10/17/2017 7:30 pm : link
but another run further behind after the error

I was calling for Castro to be traded back early in the year when he was red hot. Had him pegged as a player who would always let you down in the end.
What is going on here?
B in ALB : 10/17/2017 7:31 pm : link
Oh yeah. The Yankees making ridiculous mistakes again. Great job assholes.
I'm not happy Sonny walked a guy on 4 pitches to start an inning
shockeyisthebest8056 : 10/17/2017 7:32 pm : link
in a scoreless game, but he pitched great and Romine severely fucked him over with the CI.

Bill2 : 10/17/2017 7:32 pm : link
We make more mistakes than the Astros. To get to the next level we need a back up catcher and a contact hotter in the number two slot. Preferably instead of Castro. Add a starting pitcher and we will be fine.

We have guys who will learn and a team with guts and calm.
Gleyber Torres

will be welcome to 2nd base next year.

You go into thst pinball machine of a park and give up 4 runs in 2 games you have to win one. You just have to.
I shouldn't be surprised

when it comes to Sonny Gray. Dude throws a great game off a 12 day layoff but you can't stand him? This game is not on him

Ignore your initial biases on the trade and assess his actual performance. He was fantastic

I don't like Gray because he takes for ever to throw. He wastes far too many pitches, seems always behind in the count and you look up in the 5th inning and he has thrown 80 or 90 pitches. His waste pitches are nowhere near the strike zone so batters know they aren't strikes, there is little enticement to swing at a pitch a foot outside.
He pitched a very good game up until the 6th but you just cannot walk the leadoff guy with Altuve and Correa coming up.
The Yankees offense is what it is
mfsd : 10/17/2017 7:35 pm : link
We’ve lived on the HR all season, and gotten to the ALCS with it. The reality is, the lineup is still pretty short on guys who grind out ABs and find ways to get on base and get going in games like this.

The Astros pitching approach has been the same as the Indians...seems like about 80% breaking balls, and they’ve been giving our offense fits.

We were good enough to get past Cleveland still, but may not be against Houston.

Getting pissed off about our offensive approach at this point of the season seems a bit of a fools errand - we’re playing against one of the 2 best teams in baseball and getting exposed. Hard to expect the Yanks to suddenly turn into a 98 Yankees type offense (.364 team OBP) all of a sudden in the ALCS.

In the end, it’s up to Cashman to find one or two more guys to put this team over the top (2B and/or 3B), but that’s for the offseason, not going to help us now.

Yep, hopefully Torres is up for the challenge of batting second, with Judge, Sanchez and Bird behind him.

Gray was awesome tonight
B in ALB : 10/17/2017 7:37 pm : link
The walk and interference are tough. It happens. Other than that short sequence he was excellent.

Robertson also walked the next batter and gave up the penultimate double to some fat guy.

And let's not forget the bats have been watery shit.

All rise.

Well at least it's not a shutout

as a future CF for years to come, Hicks could be the #2 hitter. Excellent BB% with a middle of the league K%, which is really good for guys who walk as much as he did.
Don't give up on this game

PaulBlakeTSU : 10/17/2017 7:41 pm : link
did everything we could have asked from him. He missed his spots badly on several pitches early, but that's to be expected on 12 days off. But he made big pitches when we needed him to.

His defense let him down.

A big difference in this series has been base running. The Yankees have been thrown out at home on what should have been an easy score if Bird took a proper-sized lead. Gardner was thrown out at third for the third out of an inning, though it took one of the beset relays you'll ever see to get him. Didi was picked off first, and Judge got tagged up.

Meanwhile, we couldn't even get an easy relay home to get Altuve in Game 2 because Sanchez couldn't field a hop.
