Fantasy Football Trade Discussion

djz9176 : 10/18/2017 10:59 am
Thanks in advance everyone.

I am in a 12 team PPR league which starts a flex player. What do you think of this trade offer?

I receive:
Evan Engram
Alvin Kamara
Thomas Rawls

I give up:
Jordan Reed
Ty Montgomery
Aaron Jones
James White

Would you make this deal if you were me?

I like that trade a lot for you.
Keith : 10/18/2017 11:03 am : link
First off, Kamara is the best player in that trade, IMO. Reed is a quality TE that is made of glass. Engram will be almost as good as a healthy Reed for the rest of the year and that's not even taking into account that there is a .0001% chance Reed will be healthy all year. I wouldn't want any part of the GB RB's without Rodgers and so much uncertainty about you will get the touches week to week. Same for NE RB's.
No, I think you give up more than you get
pjcas18 : 10/18/2017 11:04 am : link
wild card is Reed, I hate having him since he's perpetually a game time decision.

And if/when Montgomery comes back healthy you lose in a bigger way.

This is more proof that you should make this trade.
Reed is a shell of himself by the way with the injuries.
Keith : 10/18/2017 11:08 am : link
I think you can make a case that Engram is better from here on out regardless of whether(or when) Reed gets hurt again.

Kamara is a legit RB2 with the potential to run for 100 yards and/or catch 7-9 balls a game.

potential for perhaps, but he's never had a 100 yard game in fact he's only even gotten 10 carries once.

I like Kamara, but I like Montgomery more and he's actually the best player in the trade when healthy.

Plus, without Rodgers Montgomery has more value not less IMO.

In a keeper league Kamara may have more value, but for 2017 I'm not so sure.
AP was traded last week,
Keith : 10/18/2017 11:16 am : link
it's only been 1 week without him. Kamara will get touches, he's a great talent.
You are nuts, IMO and I say that with love in my heart.
Keith : 10/18/2017 11:18 am : link
1. Montgomery is not better than Kamara and thats not even considering that he's banged up and losing touches to Jones.

2. No way does Montgomery have more value without Rodgers when teams don't have to respect the greatest passing game in the NFL.

3. Did I mention that you are nuts?
Long term I like Kamara
pjcas18 : 10/18/2017 11:24 am : link
but as a rookie I'm not sure he's going to have more value than Montgomery.

Peterson was traded and look at Mark Ingram, not Kamara as the main beneficiary.

Kamara got the touches he did because the game was a blowout (though Payton almost blew it).

Ingram will still be the goal line back and the 2 down back for most games.
I'm guessing you didn't watch the game.
Keith : 10/18/2017 11:26 am : link
You are incorrect. They are going to split snaps pretty evenly and Brees loves his RB's, especially ones that can catch. He's not just a 3rd down back. Look for him to get 10 carries and 5 catches per week at a minimum with chances for TD's and a chance to catch upwards of 10 balls. Love Kamara this season, way more than Montgomery who is a spot starter on bye weeks.
do it!

I'm with Kieth here
leatherneck570 : 10/18/2017 12:24 pm : link
Kamara is the best player here. I'd definitely take that deal. Kamara has stand alone value, and Montgomery is not going to come close to the usage he saw pre-injury imo. It was never sustainable.
Plus,
leatherneck570 : 10/18/2017 12:25 pm : link
you get the pleasure of maybe picking up whoever he drops.
Do it

I would do it
YAJ2112 : 10/18/2017 1:39 pm : link
though I would prefer it more from your side if you removed Rawls/White from the deal.
DJZ
allstarjim : 10/18/2017 1:43 pm : link
Here's the deal:

Engram & Kamara for Reed, Jones and Montgomery.

Drop the swap of White for Rawls.

Your opponent doesn't care that much about White anyway, not enough to kill this deal, and you are losing on that swap by giving up White, when it's completely unnecessary.

And stick to your guns on that, because he will do the deal without getting back White. This is a negotiation...don't overpay needlessly.

Yes, I would do the deal to get Kamara. But you know who your opponent really wants? It's Jones and Montgomery. That's who he wants. All the other stuff is window dressing, so leverage that against him, and for goodness sake don't do a deal including his roster trash (Rawls).

I'd give Brees/Freeman/cooper

Receive. Brady/kamara/John brown

beatrixkiddo : 10/18/2017 9:34 pm : link
I don't know if I'd give up freeman for Kamara. Brown is always banged up I know Cooper has done nothing, and I'm in a similar boat but it seems like your giving up more value.

I have a trade that I am ready to pull he trigger in but want advice on. Full PPR. Ertz and my 7th rd pick for Landry and his 8th. I have Engram at TE as well and can just roll with him the rest of the year. My WR are Tate, Cooper, Corey Davis and Mike Williams , Ouch! I had to drop Moncrief as luck is likely done for the year. Although I'm loaded at RB with Freeman, Coleman, Mixon, Riddick and Mack. Winston is my QB and grabbed Taylor for this week if Winston can't go. Do I do the trade or stick with Ertz?

Jay, you need to get more back to give up Freeman. I'd need a better WR than John Brown to make that deal. On the level of a Keenan Allen.

Question, can you play an extra TE in your flex? Either way I wouldn't advocate for this deal. I think Ertz may finish the year as the TE1 overall. Landry doesn't bring back that value, and yet you seem to be giving up the better pick. Makes no sense. Even in full point PPR, Landry is a WR2 thus far in a struggling offense and a run-oriented one. I get Ertz has played one more game than Landry, but he has only 4 fewer receptions and about 20 or so more fantasy points on account of his much higher yards per reception and TDs. Ertz needs to be looked at on your team like a top 5 WR, because that's the value he's bringing right now. He's Wentz's top target and if he were a WR he'd rank 5th in fantasy and PPR. Landry would be ranked 18 (currently 17). When you look at it that way, would you do that deal? And no, I wouldn't trust Engram to replicate those numbers, but ideally you can play both Ertz and Engram. If not, you ha e a good backup in Engram and bye week replacement. You might counter with Landry for Engram and the swap of draft picks, but I think if you do this deal you are really screwing yourself.

beatrixkiddo : 10/19/2017 8:40 am : link
I can flex an TE. My problem is I rather play my three RB's in Freeman, Mixon and Coleman. My WR's blow. I agree with you though that I should view Ertz as my #1 WR cause he is consistently putting up 15+ points every week. I just don't know how long I can trust Cooper and the Raiders in general. Tate is banged up now. I'm in a bind. It's a 14 team league and ther isn't much out there. I can take a flyer on Sanu maybe for this week or John Ross and hope one of the three rookie WR I have goes off on the second half but I'm hurting at the position.
I'm not sure I agree with the above....
Keith : 10/19/2017 8:46 am : link
First off, the trade is really Brees and Freeman for Brady and Kamara.

Freeman>>Kamara
but
Brady>>>>Brees

I think it's a pretty fair trade. I know Kamara doesn't have the name recognition, but he's going to put up similar numbers to Freeman, maybe slightly less, IMO. Brady will be better than Brees.

I just pulled the trigger on a trade...
EricJ : 10/19/2017 9:38 am : link
because I felt like I really needed another QB.

I had Carson Palmer and Ben.

Gave up Ben and Aaron Jones to receive Wilson so now I have Wilson and Palmer. Yeah there is the potential for Jones to get a lot of work now that Rodgers is gone. My other RBs are Melvin Gordon, Hyde, D Henry, Tevin Coleman and Mack. It is looking like Henry is due for more work moving forward too.
Now that I outlined my trade above..
EricJ : 10/19/2017 9:39 am : link
who would you start this weekend?
Wilson at the Giants
or
Palmer at the Rams?

Get Sanu. Look at how many receivers are inconsistent. You have a consistent performer already in Ertz. There is a big drop off very quickly at the tight end position, and that scarcity means you have a great weekly advantage. With WR, most every team is struggling.

Mix and match, work the waiver wire, and you'll be better off in the long run than moving Ertz. The number 11 overall fantasy WR in PPR is Golden Tate, and he isn't that great, either.

Palmer.

Keith : 10/19/2017 9:50 am : link
Palmer. Arizona is feeling good about themselves right now. A lot of good vibes going on there. Ride that train.
I would have to drop Williams for Sanu
beatrixkiddo : 10/19/2017 10:23 am : link
I like Williams a lot too, but I don't see him getting the volume right now.

Other WR Options on the wire, J.Matthews coming back this week with a great 2nd half schedule (alas its the bills though), R.Woods, or K.Stills with Parker still banged up may be alright.

How would you rank them PPR, btw i already have Freeman and Coleman on the Falcons, not sure its best to put all my eggs into one basket.

I have Corey Davis in my IR slot, I could drop T.Taylor at QB if Winston is good to go this weekend and hold onto Williams, I want to keep Riddick as if Tate misses time Riddick's value goes up as they use him in the slot.
I don't see Mike Williams
pjcas18 : 10/19/2017 10:28 am : link
having much value in 2017. Unless it's a keeper league I'd only have him rostered if I had extra room on my roster.

He's missed so much time as a rookie and then has Allen, Williams, Gordon, Henry even Gates and Benjamin as options.

He'll eventually get on the field, and might make some plays, but especially during the bye week stretch most leagues I'm in don't allow the luxury of keeping someone like Williams on a roster.
thats my problem pjacs
beatrixkiddo : 10/19/2017 10:33 am : link
we get 5 bench slots and its 14 team league.

Need people who can produce on the bench, i can't wait with my depleted WR core. Williams makes sense to get rid of with all the weapons that need to be fed already there. Plus, he is a rookie coming back from a serious injury, I see them slowly bringing him on.

So who out of Sanu, Stills, Matthews, Woods would you roll with this week in PPR? I could even roll the dice on Zay Jones hoping he has corrected his play over the bye week. I have a feeling the Bills will want to get their receivers more involved.

I think Sanu or Woods will get the most targets.
Amari Cooper
pjcas18 : 10/19/2017 11:21 am : link
for Doug Martin in PPR

fair trade or heavily lopsided?
I would happily take Martin over Cooper
beatrixkiddo : 10/19/2017 11:25 am : link
Raiders look terrible offensively this year.
I don't think the Raiders look terrible.
Keith : 10/19/2017 11:59 am : link
I think they looked good starting out the season, but then Carr got hurt which effected everyone. Crabtree is their #1 and Cooper has looked terrible. He drops so many passes and he's really struggling right now. I think the offense will get much better as Carr heals up, but I don't see Cooper as a focal point in that offense like Crabtree is. I'd take Martin as well.
Coopers drops
pjcas18 : 10/19/2017 12:01 pm : link
don't bother me as much as his lack of targets.

as a rookie he had a ton of drops then last year looked like he solved the problem.

but it's come back this year. He isn't getting the targets, and maybe it's related, but that concerns me.
I have Lynch and Crabtree in multiple leagues so
Keith : 10/19/2017 12:06 pm : link
I watch them a bunch. He's not a focal point anymore. Crabtree used to be 1A and Cooper 1B, but that's not reality anymore. They don't look to get Cooper the ball because he's been so bad. I think he will improve and I guess he's a buy low candidate, but I would much rather have Martin.
Crabtree is the only one getting targets
beatrixkiddo : 10/19/2017 12:07 pm : link
but Carr hasn't looked right at all since the beginning of the season. Their play calling has been pretty bad, Cooper started the year bad, but the problem is they aren't even looking to him. They used to run that offense through him and Crabtree, with a power run game. They aren't feeding Lynch, and are only going to Crabtree, they look anemic.
I think the offense looked great in the first 2 weeks.
Keith : 10/19/2017 12:14 pm : link
They did whatever they wanted and looked like they were in line for a huge season. Then the Redskins debacle and then Carr's injury. I think they will regain form at some point.

Crabtree is a legit weapon, but I don't trust anyone else on that team for fantasy purposes right now. Lynch is on my bench.

Is Hilton even startable this week?

The Jags secondary is excellent - and Hilton has been extremely boom or bust. Over the past month, he's gone back and forth between huge games and absolute trash.

I have Jordan Reed and Engram - I may start both of them and leave Hilton on my bench.

Oh I'd be getting Martin

JoeMoney19 : 10/19/2017 1:43 pm : link
Who would you guys start at QB this week?

Alex Smith @ Oakland (short week on the road coming off his worst start, but up against a Raiders defense that's near the bottom of the league in most pass defense stats)

Cam @ Chicago (rough game throwing last week but made up for it with 11/71/1 on the ground which was his best rushing game since early 2015; Bears have been solid against the pass; Benjamin looking doubtful after re-aggravating his knee)

Tough call but I'd go with Reed and Engram. Shepard is back practicing but even if he plays I still think Engram will receive a lot of targets lined up at various spots. Even at home this is a horrible matchup for Hilton. Ramsey and Bouye are both very good. I expect a lot of passes to go Doyle's way in this game.

On Brady/kamara for Brees/Freeman
It's fair, But just not sure I can swap Freeman for kamara. Also, for the fantasy playoffs, I looked at schedule for Brees and see he has 3 dome games so don't need to worry about possible bad weather. Still thinking about it though.
Joe I'd go with Smith

I need to figure out who to play at QB this week, looks like Winston isn't going to go.

I have Taylor, but Hundley, Fitz, McKown, and Goff may all be better options. Just need someone for this week and desperately need the win.

Nope, I would start a lot of receivers over him. He's not startable at all.
