this is why hornacek should of been let go when perry was hired. if you want to go with a youth movement bring in a young coach to grow with them, a coach who doesnt feel like he is coaching for his job...

As was pointed out to me, if DSJ really did keep his medicals away from the Knicks, can you really expect the team to take a gamble like that? Just a huge red flag that seems like an agent was hiding something.

Yeah, I guess if that is true then it's reasonable to pass. I just really thought DSJ was the better player at that pick and it's not like Frank is off to a super healthy start to his career. At this point, I have to hope Frank is awesome though and we don't regret passing on DSJ

pulled the same thing with Philly in the lead up to that draft. It happens all the time. For some teams, if you feel strongly enough about the player, you just take him anyway. When Phil was running things, you really can't blame an agent for trying to get their player somewhere other than NY. That said, DSJ's reps don't have much of basketball client roster. Of the 11 guys they show on their web page, I've only heard of 3 of them. So maybe it was amateur hour.

Really raving about Tim Hardaway Jr. He wants Kanter to start because he has a little more length and athletic ability than Willy. Not much to say on Frank since nobody has seen him. Also said he's more concerned about KP getting stronger below the waist - doesn't want him to become too "top heavy."

You guys have some pretty ugly contracts on the books for at least this season and next. I'm honestly not sure what can be done to brighten your future until some of that dead weight is gone.

It seems like the Knicks just need an entire culture change. Now maybe there is little hope because of the owner, but they have to do something to entice free agents. Most players should want to play for the Knicks, Lakers, Celtics...

I don't follow close enough to know how Hornacek is viewed by the players and fans. Is it time to give a shot to a former player as their first HC gig that is younger and is more able to relate to the current players? I know Jerry Stackhouse has been working his way up the ranks for a few years. He or a coach like him might not be the longterm answer but it might just take convincing that first or second big(ish) name to sign and attract others.

Hornacek basically said Kanter is the starter which is "fine" if Willy gets his minutes but the concern comes when Noah returns. Someone is losing minutes...

HAS looked good offensively in pre-season (surprisingly so with the ball) but the defense is not good.

I was hopeful the Nets would finish with a better record than the Knicks. Hopefully this injury doesn't change that. And of course it sucks for Lin.

Let's not confuse sucking with rebuilding. If they truly commit to this plan we'll go into next season with a lot more excitement than we have now, even if Lance, Noah and Lee are still clogging up cap space.

knicms building through draft not through free agency, no more quick fixes...

really, really don't like Hornacek. I'd love to be proven wrong but he seems weak, over his head, not especially impressive as a speaker.

Watching them last night and I was thinking how good this team could be. Even if Fultz is a bust( not saying he is), they could survive it and still be really good just because of Embiid and Simmons. I also really like Covington.

Hinkies could turn out to look like a real genius. I would have loved for the knicks to bring him in.

Not encouraged by him either... But, 1) gotta give him a chance to run the team without the zen master micromanaging. And 2) him failing has the benefit of helping the tank and then Perry can pick his own guy.

Has anyone ever missed as much time over his first three seasons and turned out to be durable after that? I can't think of anyone.

Illgauskas is the only guy I can think of. He'll always be an injury risk, but his talent is undeniable. He's a dominant player when on the court.

There has been a culture change (entire front office overhaul). As far as ugly contracts, only Noah qualifies.

anything that Wally says that is extremely positive off the jump regarding the Knicks. He was on air last year saying Rose looked like the MVP again for the Knicks. So while he is high on Hardaway Jr, it doesn't mean much until the games are actually played. He is always super optimistic (not a bad thing).

if hardaway continues to put up the numbers he put up in preseason in the regular season with average defense he earns that contract

Frank needs to get minutes since the guys ahead of him are clearly just placeholders/vet leaders, but I'm ok with KOQ/Thomas/Lee getting minutes early on so they can shop them and hopefully move them for some value (sooner rather than later). Even some 2nds are better than nothing.

MSG TV is pretty much a propaganda machine in most cases. Just listen to Trautwig on a halftime show. But Wally sure wasn't afraid to lean into KP when he thought the camera and the mics weren't on last week.

fucking hated the Noah signing, less of an opinion of the THjr move (but more negative than positive admittedly) and even I have to acknowledge his offensive game looked more mature and diverse in pre-season. I really hope he doesn't try and replace Melo. He needs to be the #2 or #3 option and defer to KP. His defense looked poor.

I think THJr makes a jump to the 22 ppg mark, but probably on lower efficiency numbers.

Meh. Even his defensive numbers last year where he was supposedly so much better showed him to be a push defender (and that was on a team with a coach who knows how to coach defense). Nothing to suggest he'd going to be even average on this team with so little help around him.

THjr is scoring 22 per game that's likely a bad sign for KP. That would mean he's basically replacing Melo
