Is McAdoo forgiven for the sins of the last 10 months?

There is an opportunity to do that right now.

Win those 3 and and you might have something. As of now? It's like Mara said when asked his opinion on what Sunday night means..."We're 1-5 not 0-6".
Is this after they add Vernon Davis?

It took intervention from ownership before he made any changes. Three wins will still keep him on the hot seat until he shows he is HC material - not just an OC who happened to understand the most popular offense in the league.

Until he figures out how to get a first down without having to complete 2 passes, he is stuck on the hot seat.
I honestly don't know how anybody and think past the next game
Rjanyg : 10/19/2017 4:24 pm : link
this team has 1 win and the last 3 losses have been by a combined 10 points. Good teams win close games. The Denver game was the first time in a long time that NYG played well on offense, defense and special teams. It will take the same performance every week for them to have a chance to win games.

Seattle is not a great team but might be a bad match up for us. Wilson likes to extend plays and we may not have Vernon. Their defense is pretty nasty. I think we will have a hard time running the ball this week.
They are not ripping off 4 in a row
Tom from LI : 10/19/2017 4:30 pm : link
They will probably lose this weekend. Denver took us lightly. The offense dropped a whopping 16 points..

I think we will win between 4 and 6 games this season.. but they are not fixed. Not even remotely close. No chance they rip off 4 in a row with a bye week breaking their mojo up.

Bi Polar Interactive... Win 1 game and we are playoff bound.. great stuff here..

No one can argue that the team showed up and played hard against Denver... A similar showing against Seattle and the leash gets a little longer... That is what I'm saying. I don't know if that's the best move though... The playcalling had to be pried from McAdoo's nearly cold fingers... Eli had a heart to heart with the team... And it was JPP and Collins that brought Odell's helmet out to the bench...

In my opinion, the leaders on this team stepped up for sure... I fear that it may save the coach...

Why would they be meaningless if they open up the opportunity to go 10-6 or even 9-7? You really want the team to give up and tank at 4-5? Wouldn't winning 4 straight mean that they have a shot at the post season?
If the team does better, that's good for the coach.
81_Great_Dane : 10/19/2017 4:55 pm : link
If it doesn't, that's bad for the coach. More wins good, fewer wins bad. Let's not overthink this.
Not happening
Sammo85 : 10/19/2017 5:04 pm : link
But it would provide some breathing room for him if it did.

There’s a good chance they could lose all four in a row. This team can be capable of playing terribly against the Niners for as well as they played against the Broncos.

The Seahawks and Rams matchups are very very tough for us. Both have capable defenses. We are going to have a lot of trouble scoring on
Seattle.

Seahawks have a terrible O line but Wilson is capable of willing that offense through a game.

I think this team only wins 1 or 2 out of the next seven games.

I would not be betting money on McAdoo getting fired this season.

If we go .500 the rest of the way, that gets us to 6-10. I don't think that's an outcome you fire a coach over, not a year removed from a playoff berth and 11-5.

I'd still fire him and Rese for anything short of a miraculous finish (10 or 11) wins. That is how poorly I think of the personnel decisions, in game decisions, poor playcalling for nearly a season and a half, handling of the team, etc.

What I'd really like to understand though is how one gets struck by lightning on a subway platform. I suppose the 7 train does go above ground and is still considered a subway, but there is a roof over one's head on those platforms. Please explain.

Well there this from the linked article in the NY Post:

It was Wing’s idea to take Beckham’s helmet on the trip to Denver, and it sat behind the bench at Sports Authority Field at Mile High as the Giants found their first victory of the season, beating the Broncos 23-10. Beckham will not wear that helmet any time soon.

They didn't play harder against Denver
eclipz928 : 10/19/2017 5:55 pm : link
they played smarter, and made changes that they probably should have after week 2.

That said, the Giants winning 4 in a row is not out of the question and of course a game winning streak gets the coach off the hook pending how the rest of the season turns out.

I'm not at all a proponent of tanking.

I just don't see this team recovering from 0-5.

If they did, and it meant something other than a second-place finish and no playoffs? OK. But short of playoffs, no. Not after an 0-5 start. Makes little sense in the bigger picture.

That isn't the question. The question is they are 4-5, meaning, they already won 4 in a row. If that happens than you not thinking it can happen is irrelevant. If they win 4 straight games it isn't meaningless, especially if you are against tanking which you said you are.

You can say you don't want them to tank but also that you don't want them starting 4-5 and miss the playoffs.
I think Denver was a fluke.

it really all falls apart, and some dumb coaching decisions are made in close games we end up losing I am thinking, and a little fearful, that the injuries save Mc.
It's all a little to no win situation....make a big turnaround and finish 8-8/7-9/6-10 and Mc is a genius for winning w/o big 3 receivers and turning it around...but we drop spots in the '18 draft, and if its still Reese at GM them he is still ok with the OL.
Go 5-11/4-12 but play well vs the division and top/much better teams, its a who knows situation.
Go 4-12 or worse, including maybe a loss to SF, and it gets ugly. Fans will hate the 4-12/worse and stay away those late December games, will wear the paper bags, chant 'Goodbye" song etc... they will blow it up. But will have a top 7 or better(ug?)for hopefully a new GM.
Again, unless he losses the team, I think they let Mc finish out the last year of the contract.

All things hinge on Seattle. Win and the rest offseason sets up we. KC & Oak not what they looked like earlier in season. Both D's vulnerable.

NFC east can still be had.
If they lose to Seattle - start preparing for top 5 pick

would all be well with the world if the Giants turn things around this season? If they end up with a winning record?

Yes, McAdoo would earn some redemption. The objective is to win. To adjust. You want the HC to weather a storm or two and figure things out. If the Giants right this ship any fan sitting here saying he's stubborn and bla bla bla, is a fucking idiot but only if they turn it around. If they get to 4-5 and then lose 7 straight that little 3-4 game winning streak meant fuck all.

Talk to me at the end of the year. We're sitting here ripping or praising the HC on shit that hasn't even happened yet. McAdoo had a terrible start here in 2017. Absolutely terrible. No other way to slice it and one win doesn't change shit. Two wins won't either. 4-5? No.

9-7? 8-8? Wouldn't be great but We can talk. Until then....wake me when the ink is dry.

and we've got them at 4-5 now?

We had them at 11-5 before they played Dallas. Then we had them picking 1st or 2nd after the loss to the Chargersm myself included. I'm done speculating. I do believe they turned a corner on Sunday Night but the proof is in the pudding. And don't even think of bringing up injuries. I don't want to hear it anymore.

There's weeks and weeks of football left. By week 17 we will know a lot more about this team than we do now. We all have our theories. ONe thing is for certain, the proof is in the pudding. McAdoo can in fact save his ass these next two months or so. If you think otherwise you're just being dumb or refusing to allow for any potential turnaround. We should all know better by now than to cement a season before November. Even at 1-5...who the hell knows. Final wins and losses don't get their in linear fashion especially this franchise. Streaky as they get.
