Well here we are folks. If I told you at the beginning of the season we as fans would be in a position to watch our team one game away from playing in the World Series - would you believe me? I still don't really believe it NOW! It has been an absolute pleasure to watch this team and they have far exceeded even my wildest expectation.
Tonight we have Redemption Part II as the Yankees face a pitcher who has had excellent postseason success against them dating back to his early days with Detroit. Much like Keuchel the other night - he pitched absolutely lights out in Game 2 - and here is a chance to erase that memory and stamp their tickets to the World Series. If anyone can do it, it's our boys.
The. World. Fuckin. Series!
Unfortunately, my son has a football playoff game tonight and I will not be in my customary spot on the couch watching intently, sipping my voddy and beer, chatting with you fine people on BBI. HOWEVER, I will be bringing a bit of the good stuff with me and I will be streaming the game from the stands. Wouldn't miss this one! No way, no how. All hands on deck!
Can't wait.
LGY.
this why winning game 5 was vital to them. hope for the best tonight
Win tonight and Troy is waiting in the wings.
Makes the Toga loss all the more brutal.
Go Yankees!
Doomed I say.
Go Red Sox.

That one was free. Expect an invoice for the rest
Bingo...I expect Verlander to bring his A game again, and so will Sevy. Keep it close and let’s beat their bullpen...
...and go to the fuckin World Series boys!!!
And he said I don’t know man, I’m Dominican...I was about 13, 18, 21...
Haha...I can’t help but admit it...he’s really grown on me watching him do his best on the pregame with ARod and Keith Hernandez, despite his English not being great
Very good point...if you’re AJ Hinch, you’re probably still more confident in Verlander at 120 pitches than anyone in your pen
He got the helmet from Posada.
Yup, Verlanders gotten squeezed a couple times this inning
Verlander gets late movement on it. That's why it's very hard to put barrel to it
No, he was pitching well
likely adderall...definitely stimulants
Can't blame the home crowd for over the top support. It's part of the deal in post season.
I can't fault anyone for getting mad about the strike calls tonight, so many unhittable strikes being thrown. Gotta credit the Yankees for taking it like men though.
It's part of the game a-holes!
Kind of looks like him... wheres Pettitte?
1-0 Houston
3 walks in an inning and you don't take the pitcher out? You are conceding this game Girardi
save for tomorrow

He's saving the pen for tomorrow. And I agree with him.

Might not be a bad decision if he is saving the pen for tomorrow. but what the heck do I know.
Nice! Congrats to the kid
if you give up on a 1-0 game in the 5th inning of game 6, don't bother showing up for game 7
Why do you always post stuff like this? It's silly. Yes thank you for the great season you've given us, Sevy, and battling hard tonight

Yeah, clearly I'm not talking about the regular season, though. I'm talking about tonight. Why do you never understand that?
Sevy game the Yankees everything he had. Girardi has been going one batter too far with every pitcher this post season, got lucky a couple of times, not tonight.
Then in game 7 the Yanks' bullpen is spent, while the Astros' bullpen is rested.

that could be a problem
Bingo. It still amazes me.

I honestly dont see this happening. I think that played in his mind for leaving Sevi in. I think Joe is playing for tomorrow... and thats ok.

His slider had no bite tonight. Nothing down and in.

Yeah, we all remember the post where you recommended they take Sevy out just before he faced Altuve.

He threw well tonight, he just got out dueled. Guess I just don't understand the need for the sarcasm

Because in the moment it's frustrating to go from 0-0, to 1-0, to 3-0 in this game.
Yeah I think he realized too late it was a slider, he was geared up to crush a fastball
OF
GAAAAAAD
You don't get fooled 3-0.

A ball means the bases are loaded
Jesus you are insufferable. You make Randal look good in comparison.
We’ll take a grazing of a HBP!
But, damn, how did that stay in the park?
Ump hasn’t been consistent on both sides. McCann should have walked on 4 balls from Severino as well
It was such a bad call that ump should be suspended. Easily 6 inches outside, possibly more
That was almost a foot outside the plate.
Holy. Shit.
I can't believe what i just saw.
No moral victories at this point
I'm the anti-blame the ump fam, and that was clear AF not a strike.
Yup
These are supposed to be professional umpires. It might as well be a fucking mile if that's a strike.
Verlander getting hugs in the dugout, looks like he may be done
Fear by scoring no runs? And two in 3 games in Houston?
That pitch to hicks was ridiculous.:
We can hit their bullpen, JV is DONE; I dare them to bring him back out..
If not... saddle up and let's do this CC.
Later squad I gotta start some travel , believe me.. if the Yankees win the ALCS we will win the WS! Enjoy the rest of the run, might pop back in later or tomorrow if not then couple weeks talk to y'all for hot stove..
Green is done for game 7 it appears. Glad Girardi is working him extra hard like it's allin for him tonight and that's it

Safe travels Denny. Get back for the parade.
But I think Josh Reddick is a little cunt bitch and I’m so happy he’s sucking so much ass in this series.
Mostly a sinker/slider guy
Unreal. Then gardner has to swing at the same junk on 2-1 because it was called a strike
3-1 Astros
It's fucking criminal..
That was right down the middle
Ummm he did on the 2-0 pitch to Gardy
We better get that zone tonight and/or tomorrow.
This strike zone has been constantly moving. How is this the umpire they select for the biggest game of the season to date?
Why waste him?
Guess not. Hope CC's got something left in the tank.
Yup, this is now risking adverse effect for tomorrow night. Where’s Warren?
Fuck off yourself, dupe
I have never seen a cockyer team.. all fucking yuckinf it up.. chest bumps.. it's embarrassing

Does Houston think they won the pennant tonight?

Total front running team. Whining to umpires and throwing fits when it's not going well. Whooping it up like they just won the pennant tonight. Another game to play, and their aces aren't there to save them tomorrow.
They might not have a choice. I guess they could go CC for 5, Kahnle for 2 and Chapman for 2 but that would have to be a perfect scenario
Who the fuck are you? You haven't been on a Yankee thread all year and come here with this bullshit? Fucking pussy ass troll
Hahaha I laughed.
Absolutely. Hes a vet who's pitched great this post season. Hell shake it off.

Keuchel will pitch tomorrow as all hands are on deck for both
Meh, the home team won all the games in the ALDS, until game 5.
They gotta go McCullers.. IMO

Agreed as will McCullers even if he doesnt start. Thats why whomever they start only has to give them 3 or 4 innings. I still like our spot with the big fella but if they get going early it coukd be rough.
Keuchel could come out of the pen for an inning or two
And Sanchez is just tantalizing in some aspects and just downright putrid in others. Somebody needs to sit him down and work with him on D.
Another dupe fuckstain. You smell like shit.

Does Robertson get the ball tomorrow? He's starting to look worn down
Absolutely. Hes a vet who's pitched great this post season. Hell shake it off.
Probably right, but I don't think he's the first guy out of the pen tomorrow. CC-Kahnle-Chapman, I imagine is the optimal scenario
Quote:
He won't be anywhere near full rest if he pitches tomorrow.
Hss still better on short rest at home than basically anybody else they have
If they got to him on full rest, they should be able to get him on short rest. He's not going to be pitching for that long, either.
Same goes for Kuechel, who I don't believe has ever done it before. We just hit him, if they want to bring him in as a reliever, I'll take my chances.
This team is made for games like tomorrow (or so to this point it seems).. LET'S FUCKIKG GO!!!

They used him in that role in G5 of the 2015 ALDS vs Kansas City...got shelled

is Madison Bumgarner, able to just come in from the pen on short rest and throw like usual. Nationals just saw that with Scherzer in game 5.

Interesting...and their pen remains shaky.
Hicks finally gets the walk he should have had last AB
Bring it home CC
FUCK this Houston team.. LET'S GO BOYS
Holy shit.. doesn't get more than this.. I will tell you this.. next time around we will have home field advantage.
Would have been nice if you weren't so fucking negative every god damned game too, but how's that working out for the rest of us?

God, you're such a sensitive pussy, haha. Wah?
I'll bring it home tomorrow if you want.
Won three.
Lost a horseshit cocksucker tonight.
We'll be ready to roll tomorrow.
If we can't win this game (Morton vs CC) then we don't deserve to win... let's go!!!
Combination of losing a bit of control and getting squeezed by the ump. Lead off Walk never a good thing.
Great perspective
Let's go CC!!!

Exactly. Verlander faced the same issue too (wildness combined with changing strike zone) in his final 2 innings, but he and McCann have been in the Majors since Luis and Gary Sanchez were 11/12 years-old. I think experience helped them battle through it.
This game came down to 3 PAs... McCann, Sanchez, and Hicks. I hated the pitch selection to McCann when the count evened out. Why give a guy struggling so badly anything to hit with 2 strikes? Sanchez just got fooled 3-0 by a pair of old vets. Even though there were 2 outs, Verlander was really struggling there and on the ropes. Gary will learn from that. Hicks got completely robbed and that call on a 3-1 pitch really changed the complexion of the entire game. I know the Yankees were the fortunate recipients of some questionable calls last night, but that pitch to Hicks should never be a strike under any circumstances. The HP ump's strike zone seemed to be dependent on what the count was and not on whether the pitch was actually a strike or a ball.
That was an ugly performance by Robertson last night, but we have to hope he does better tonight. I think Kahnle might be the first guy out of the 'pen tonight and any thoughts on how the 'pen will be used has to take into consideration that Chappy will go 2 innings.

If we need to go to the pen early, I suspect Joe may go with Warren. I assume he’s counting on 2 innings if necessary from both Kahnle and Chapman.
I’m sure Robertson is ready again too, he’s a veteran with enough big game experience to shake off that bad inning last night
I’d think the only guys not in the plans unless an emergency are Green and Betances
I like CC on the mound but it's all hands on deck.
I still can't believe they've gotten this far. Good luck boys. Let's win one and move on to LA.
