Last night was a clusterfuck. Some strikezone we witnessed. Awesome. But that's over now and we're right where we want to be. I'm ready to battle again and I'm sure you guys are too.
Game 7 for all the marbles. Still in good shape and facing a pitcher starting for the first time this series. But he'll be tough for sure. Gotta get into their bullpen and CC has to be CC. And the bats need to come alive again - this time in a very hostile environment.
We play today, we win today, das it.
LGY.
You're right. Thanks. Totally forgettable.
Who cares? Are you afraid of him? The dude is on 2 days rest, he may see an inning or two. Should we forfeit?
Lets go Yankees. Cant ask for a better shot. Game 7, win and go to the World Series.
Your Charlie Morton jersey is in the mail. Happy birthday!

Well you mentioned in last nights game thread too so it's obviously something that's worrying you.
Either way, I apologize for overreacting if you felt I did. We need all the good vibes we can get, don't want to start a pissing match. We have the random trolls coming out of the woodwork to take care of that for us

agreed..get good vibes and get our team to the ws. Want them to cease this op considering how far they cane to get to this point.
Yeah, I have faith in these guys but Game 7 on the road is a tall order. We need runs early, preferably a bunch of them.
1. Gardner
2. Judge
3. Gregorius
4. Sanchez
5. Bird
6. Castro
7. Hicks
8. Frazier
9. Headley
HOU
1. Springer
2. Bregman
3. Altuve
4. Correa
5. Gurriel
6. Gattis
7. McCann
8. Gonzalez
9. Reddick
nothing too shocking, thought there'd be an outside chance of Frazier and Hicks swapping spots. also no surprise with Reddick being moved to the 9-spot with CC on the hill.
Same here. Hopefully they prove us wrong.
Me either B, this ballpark scares me
Lets go Yankees!
It could work, and the drop down from the top two starters gives me hope.
Let's kill these bastards!!
Yup. After last night and today I'm ready for another kick in the tits.
i don't take '09 for granted, but this has been the most fun yankee team in a while

couple of hard hit balls fouled off...i guess. let's go CC
our bats need to get something fucking going.
The Astros being wildly impatient also helped there
Let's fucking piss on these bitches
Weirdest post. Haha. Lets go Yanks.
Let's fucking piss on these bitches
creepy coming from mr kelly.
nevermind, was just gonna agree with this and then the strikeout

I'll settle for the out.
Why? then we'd be talking about him every time the camera is on him.
I can see that logic, if CC last 5 innings.
UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE
In a game 7 none the less.
What team are you rooting for?
It's not like they've hit him hard. Plus the Yanks don't have Green, so they really need an inning or 2 more out of CC.

Shit, didn't realize no Green tonight.
Hard to do when the Astros are getting a Texas sized strike zone. You'll be down 0-1, 0-2 almost every AB

Ridiculous play by Bregman and McCann
How is it lucky? A good play all around by good players.
Because 95% of the time you don't make that play even when it's executed well
yup.
And both on bird
And bad home plate umpiring. That strike 2 to Headley was almost in the dirt. It changed the at bat

I don't know if they had a play on to run on contact, but it was a bad decision.
Both times a head first slide would have increased his chances of scoring.
well, when you call strikes that are one foot above the dirt, for one team, and ball for the other, changes the whole complexing of the at bat.
Not even close, come on now

the Yankees are beating themselves. They had a perfect opportunity with a man on 2nd with no outs. They blew it. Sabathia did not pitch well. Last night, they had two men on and ended up with a long fly out to the wall. This is the same umpire calling balls and strikes for both teams. The Astros are playing like they want it more.
well, when you call strikes that are one foot above the dirt, for one team, and ball for the other, changes the whole complexing of the at bat.
Part of the game is having to adapt to the umpires. Anyone who has played the game at a competitive level will tell you that. A bad call here or there does not explain away the fact that the Astros are knocking the shit out of the yankee pitchers and the Yankees can barely advance a runner to 2nd base.
If you want to blame the umpires if the Yankees lose tonight then go ahead if it makes you feel better.
Come back and win the game.

yeah I understand. Just point the blame where it belongs. Since I started typing my last message the continued to hit our pitching and we have nobody throwing in the pen.
Warren was up in the pen
Exactly.
B, Yanks come back and win this, You are my favorite poster on here.
Good God. Get some perspective.
Why all change ups here?
Can't run
Save judge - can't field
Can't pitch
Manager waits too long to hook both cc and kahnle when it is clear they don't have it.
I thought you switched to Sanka like Mr Vargas
Even if they don't win they took a series against Cleveland and went 7 against Houston, two hundred plus win teams, both as dogs.
Not much choking, just not enough talent to go any further, if it turns out that way. No shame in that.
Don't forget Gattis! Pretty much the Braves winning right now.
Please. Just stop. Wtf is wrong with you ass clowns?
True, Will. But I'd have liked to see him try to jam McCann inside with a fastball. That said, I sure haven't scouted the Astros, so WTF do I know.
I'm not blaming anyone for this...the Yanks are playing a super team in the Astro's home park. I might have pulled CC earlier, but I'm just not gonna go there.

Many players leave Atlanta to meet their potential.
We cannot hit and the Astros were making contact vs every pitcher we threw out there. It is as simple as that.
I was at my cousin's house in the island last night watching this game with him. We had two men on and someone hit a long fly ball to the wall in center field. It would have tied the game 3-3. I told my cousin at that moment that the series was over. We absolutely needed that 3 run homer there because we were not going to generate the additional runs needed to come back. Not the way we were swinging the bat last night. Then, Houston with momentum going into game 7.... over.
This fucking sucks !!

pretty poetic analysis since Girardi lives and dies by the 3 run hr. It's his only game plan I'd hate to see this dynamic group of young players turned into one dimensional Girardi replicants, they deserve better. When Greg Bird came up he was introduced as a player who hits to all fields, not anymore. He's all pull all the time, gotta reach that short porch hell or high water. The waters from Harvey may have receded in Houston, but the Yankees are in it deep right now. So much talent, hope they stay healthy and can take the next step next year.
Finish them

This is not Joe Girardi's fault. We've scored 3 runs in Texas. Shut the fuck up.

We're a really good team. Our BP got used up a bit yesterday. If not, Green and Robertson would have been the first guys in tonight. What can you do?
And we're not hitting a lick.
No one was saying anything about Girardi when we raked in NYC. He hasn't done anything different.
Yankees have been playing 9 on 10 this entire post season.
Plenty of times. Problem is, Yanks rely on the big bang, and it's not happening. Team not hitting in key situations and it's getting late fast

Absolutely. They were projected to be an 80-win team this year and they got as far as a game from the World Series
This
This year was, or is, pure gravy. I've been saying that all year. But, we ended up having this potent, power-laden offense, a pitching staff that got hot at the right time, and a pen that's 6-arms deep....only to not show up for two games at Houston. Can't say I'm not disppointed.

got the taste, now next year and forward cash in.
great season..couldnt ask for anymore
Bring back Girardi next year.
Please get rid of Castro like tomorrow. Not a terrible player, but he still has zero plate discipline and just quite simply is easy to get out in the playoffs, just throw breaking balls down and away and you're good.

Sad but true.
Nothing wrong with that.
Id sacrifice the remainder of the Giants shitty season for a Yankee win tonight.
Said same thing. I think he is done here. Not by Yanks choice. I don't think he wants back. Can't blame him. 19 years is alot in NY
Nothing wrong with that.
Maybe that's because your wife is actually smart enough to know that you wanting Girardi gone is as asinine as we do? We don't want to hear your whining either. Blaming Girardi is a stupid as it gets. And makes you come across as not very intelligent to be honest.

I am kidding of course.
You like Girardi, I don't. What's the big deal? Giradi is an average to above average manager, he's not in the top echelon. He's been here for a long time. A change is not that outrageous of an opinion.
This team is stuck in the mud.
We have to take the same step Houston took from last year to this year - ditch some of the hackers and get a few more contact hitters.
Why can't the Astros beat the Dodgers? I find Altuve to be a douche and don't particularly care for this group of Astros players, but why will it be a boring series?

NO way do we give Tanaka another 5 years, add on to his existing contract, but not another 5 years.
Like I said a couple of times, this is nowhere near a finished product. The Astros pretty much are a finished product that will get no better than they are now.
We've got Gleyber, Andujar, Chance Adams, Justus Sheffield, Clint Frazier and possibly Estevan Florial waiting in the wings
Yankees are emotionally spent at this point. I doubt anyone on this team remembers the last 3 innings.
Bandwagon garbage.
Bandwagon garbage.
Houston was never a baseball town, this is kind of true
They most likely will. Houston matches up terribly with them
Absolutely. A good offseason and we'll definitely be representing the AL next year in the World Series. They met a team that was at least 2-3 years ahead of them in terms of team development who will get no better than they are now
Hats off to the Astros. Great baseball team with a ton of talent who a heck of a season while representing a city that went through an unimaginable disaster.
The future is bright.

Pathetic Mets fan troll
What Cashman really needs to do is figure out how to get rid of Castro and Ellsbury. Castro can provide some hitting during the season but he's a negative in the playoffs. Hopefully Torreyes would be able to hold 2B down until Torres is ready. Ellsbury is just useless dead weight. I suppose they'd have to package a good prospect or two with him just to get rid of him and I doubt that's happening. I would include Headley in there but he only has one year left and they seem to like him as somewhat of a 1B/3B/DH utility guy now.
drink some fucking gas and die...wtf
It's hard to focus on the future right now.
Let Houston have their moment. They had so much go on with the flooding that this will be a good distraction for them. That said, LA was going to beat either team this year, so let the Astros bow out in 5
There will be a lot of trash can fans of other teams talking shit tonight and for the next couple days. But just remember, the Yankees future is crazy bright, they outlasted every team in the AL until Game 7 and we're Yankees fans through and through.
There are a few shit stains on this thread - and we know who they are - but it's been a pleasure sharing this season with the true fans on BBI. THANK YOU.

Yea really...I'm not distraught at all, Yanks would have been killed by the Dodgers.

I hate falling back on moral victories, but theres so much to be excited about with the Yanks future. Add to all that a ton of great experience in playoff games like the last 2 weeks against the best teams in baseball. Guys like Judge, Bird, Sanchez, Didi et al will remember these games and ABs and hopefully be better hitters in the future bc of it.
Yanks know they can play with anyone...but also know they have to be even better if they want to reach the mountaintop.
Great time talking baseball with all my fellow Yankee fans here all season and especially the last couple weeks!!

Dodgers have an underrated, strong bullpen
Kershaw and Darvish > Keuchel and Verlander

So glad the piece of garbage rocky isn't a Yankees fan, though.
Youth, power, a good pipeline, good bullpen, money to buy whoever wants to pitch/play for a winner and get to a WS.
So might the Yanks-Sox rivalry if they play Cora-ball...otherwise a Sox get owned 13-5 in the season series.
Also Turner had one of those Daniel Murphy series, can't expect him to repeat. Houston has a lot of holes to exploit - no bullpen, a weak catcher, and Roberts will make sure Altuve and Correa get nothing to hit. If the Yankees just committed to not throwing a single strike to Altuve and Correa all series they would have won easily. They are the only hitters on the team that can hit anything about mediocre/tired pitching.

NO WAY!!! Yankees were lucky to even get to a 7th game in 2001 they had two miracle come backs back to back nights. 2001 does not other me as much as 2004 when the Yankees just came off a 19-8 ass whooping to go up 3-0 and completely choked after that.
Staaaaaaaaaanley! You're an asshole, bud.
Yeah, these young guys certainly have things to work on in the offseason. Bird with his baserunning, Judge with toning down the K's, Gary with... actually catching a ball thrown to him.
He said that on his show last week, too. He's right.

Bregman throwing out Bird at the plate. What sticks in my craw is that the replay shows Bird not taking a single step toward home with the pitch, he was flat-footed when Frazier hit the ball. Someone's gotta teach that boy to move, he's not playing in Little League anymore.

hurts more than even 2004 did to me. Much worse actually. Not winning that one was fucking cruel
NO WAY!!! Yankees were lucky to even get to a 7th game in 2001 they had two miracle come backs back to back nights. 2001 does not other me as much as 2004 when the Yankees just came off a 19-8 ass whooping to go up 3-0 and completely choked after that.
Who gives a shit that they were lucky to even get to a 7th game. To have a lead in the 9th inning and lose the way they did is absolutely gut wrenching. Add on top of that 9/11 and it was just absolutely brutal.
2004 sucked, i was even there for game 7, but I didn't feel half as bad after that as I did 2001. Even if they won the ALCS that year they still had to win four more games. Yanks were 3 outs away from winning a title and they gave up one hard hit ball all inning and lost. I'll be surprised if I ever see a baseball game that hurts as much as that one did going forward. I certainly hope I don't have to see one worse

that's a fucking shitload of strikeouts! I hope that number goes down and it should as he matures and gets to know the pitchers. Kris Bryant struck out 199 his rookie year and is down to 128 this year.
Somebodys angry!

All rise, the verdict is in, start spreading the news the Judge says there will be no more games in that pathetic bandbox of a park this year. The fat doughboy drunk can crack open a cold one now as a game 7 loser.
Rocky. You're a child predator and criminal. Yet you continue to troll the board for decades.
I don't feel sorry for you.
You should be locked up.
So glad the piece of garbage rocky isn't a Yankees fan, though.
Disgusting piece of shit. Trying to take advantage of children. Got caught. Arrested. Scum.
I see Rocky is still that punk-ass pedo who has lost everything...Couldn't have happened to a more deserving little bitch
You're bitching about nothing. You're an ill-informed, spoiled and shitty fan who has no perspective or real investment in this team. You like to complain. Bitch and moan. Yack about nothing.
It's typical. And it's annoying. Go root for the Mets. Be gone.
Hi.. can you please provide your name?
There are children on the board and there is fear that you may touch them...

I watched every single game this year, probably 90% of the games Girardi has managed for this team. I've been a fan of the Yankees since the early 70's and my father who is 89 has been going to Yankee games since the 1930's. If you think I haven't earned the right to criticize this team then you are probably drunk. By the way, I wasn't criticized Judge, I was just in awe that someone could strike out 235 times in a season and still be incredibly productive. I'm sure there are many in the Yankee organization wondering if they should do something about it or just chalk it up to a new era in the game.
Great post, nothing to add. The team went farther that just about everyone though they could. There are plenty of holes to fill and plenty of things to work on but they now know how to win, they need to figure out how to finish.
I hope Joe stays, he seems to have the players confidence.
Not satisfied with losing but happy with the progress.
I will be heading to Tampa in March.
It will be interesting to see what Judge does to cut down on Ks. He has improved every year correcting flaws at each level. Guy works his butt off to improve all the time. Good things happen when he puts the ball in play.
Sanchez will improve his catching. It is just refinement now. Would not be surprised if he loses about 10 lbs to get quicker.
A fully rested off season for Bird and that sweet swing.
Sonny Gray has far too much talent to be going 3-2 count on virtually every batter and being out of games in the 5th inning.
Lastly, here is hoping Ells is moved and Gardy isn't.
3 1/2 months to pitchers and catchers!
Will Torres be 100% after his injury? It shouldn't affect his fielding much, but it is the front arm hitting, which can be a big deal.
They have decisions to make with the pitching. Re-sign an OPT out Tanaka? For how much and how long? Re-sign Gray? Many are asking for a Betances trade. What is his current value when the team clearly didn't trust him? Which prospects will be up and are they ready?
Can they drastically cut down strikeouts? Those who aren't concerned, especially with Judge, I think, can be in for an unpleasant surprise. If he continues to be a 200+ K player, you don't consistently see those kinds of HE totals and the BA will be close to 250 (or below) than 280-300. I love Judge and think he is hugely talented. But, one year doesn't make his future a foregone conclusion.
So
So, while we have plenty to look forward to, I think it is wrong to assume this is just a bump in the road and there are multiple WS titles in the next 5 years.
There is never a guarantee. Just look at the Cubs and Indians.
That said, you'd rather be where the Yankees are in terms of players and prospects. The more good players you have the better the chances of getting deep into the playoffs.
Looking forward to next year. The Yankees are going to be good.
We still can hope to see more next year from Montgomery, Torres, Andujar, Adams, Clint Frazier, and more of the kids from the farm.
I would love to see Ellsbury dealt (even if we eat a lot of salary), Castro dealt, Betances dealt. I think Frasier will walk due to wanting a multi-year deal.
I think they sign Sabathia if his demands are reasonable (1 - 2 year contract at most). I think they sign Tanaka if he opts out or they try to give him an extension prior to an opt out.
I don't think they will be big players in free agency otherwise. They need a starting pitcher for sure, but I can't see them making big plays on any position players this year.
I really thought the Yanks were going to get to the WS. I felt like they were going to win it, actually.
Regardless, it's good experience for the younger guys. I think they probably learned a good bit and can take that with them going forward.
Still a hell of a run. No one had y'all here back in April.
I don't know what the plan is for Girardi, but I really thought all of the calling for his head after game 2 of the DS was over the top. Joe is a good manager. I'd love to have him. If he wants to return, NYY would be wise to retain him IMO.
I do think this team is built for sustained success - the model the Yankees are using seems to be more dependable. Hitters are a bit more reliable than putting most of your eggs in your pitching. Severino was tremendous this year, though.
CC looks like he still has a bit left in the tank. He's a FA, correct? If you could sign him for another year, I probably would. 2 would be dicey at his age. Unless he's considering retiring - but I don't recall reading anything like that.
Having Gray under team control is good, too.
Frazier should be a bigger part of the team next year.
Plenty to be excited about.
Otherwise pitching will be the key. Gray will be a good 2-3. Sevy hopefully will continue his success and stay healthy. Montgomery should take another step forward. Give Adams a realistic chance to make the club next spring. Then I assume at least one of CC or Tanaka will be back, so that gives us 5 starters. Sheffield has been impressive in the AFL, maybe he'll position himself for a cameo later on in the year.
On the hitting side, I know you can't have young studs without track record at every position, but I wouldn't mind giving Torres and Andujar a shot out of spring. Clint Frazier has to be worked into the rotation too. Next year could be similary exciting to track the development of these other youngsters.
And an incredible war it was. That's a fantastic team in the Bronx with fantastic fans and just an incredible atmosphere at that stadium.
Pat Riley always used to say that. Think how far they have to go and we have to wait just to get back to that same position. A lot of work and luck needed.

I don't like the notionthey were playing with house money. Unexpected or not, they were 1 game away from the WS and shot the bed twice. There is no guarantee of a quick return to that position.

Thankfully, we have alot of young players on the roster, and more to come in the next few years.
A young core is developing with more young players in the pipeline.
You cannot underestimate what this run should do going forward. This young team was 1 game away from going to World Series. They will be hungry to get back and the experience they gained from this should only benefit them moving forward.
Going forward, assuming Cashman is back and I don't see why he wouldn't be, just stay the course and let him do his thing. I think he will continue to make creative trades.
Tough loss, but we should be a hungry team in 2018. Future is bright!

Gleyber Torres next year. I'm marking out.

Very clever. Now go crawl back into your hole where you were all season.
This year was house money since day 1.
