NFT: Game 7 - Yankees vs Astros - 8:08p tonight FS1

B in ALB : 10/21/2017 2:05 pm
Last night was a clusterfuck. Some strikezone we witnessed. Awesome. But that's over now and we're right where we want to be. I'm ready to battle again and I'm sure you guys are too.

Game 7 for all the marbles. Still in good shape and facing a pitcher starting for the first time this series. But he'll be tough for sure. Gotta get into their bullpen and CC has to be CC. And the bats need to come alive again - this time in a very hostile environment.

We play today, we win today, das it.

I love my fellow Yankee fans..

Awesome post season.. we didn't have enough juice to do it but... we will next year. This is ONLY the beginning boys.. so proud of this team and it's fans. I love you guys.
Shut out by Morton and McCullers, ugh....

This is brutal.

It's hard to focus on the future right now.

Great year by the Yankees
Matt in SGS : 10/21/2017 11:31 pm : link
They will go into next season as the World Series favorite, and likely the next few years as well. It wasn’t meant to be, but I’m ok with it right now. This does feel like Seattle in 1995 when you saw the engines revving for the monster on the horizon.

Let Houston have their moment. They had so much go on with the flooding that this will be a good distraction for them. That said, LA was going to beat either team this year, so let the Astros bow out in 5
Great season.
Dave in Hoboken : 10/21/2017 11:32 pm : link
Sucks to lose, but I'm already looking forward to next season. We have a very fun 2018 and next decade to look forward to.
This team well exceeded expectations
B in ALB : 10/21/2017 11:32 pm : link
And I'm extremely proud of them. They outlasted every other team other than the Dodgers and Astros. For such a young team to do so is absolutely awesome.

There will be a lot of trash can fans of other teams talking shit tonight and for the next couple days. But just remember, the Yankees future is crazy bright, they outlasted every team in the AL until Game 7 and we're Yankees fans through and through.

There are a few shit stains on this thread - and we know who they are - but it's been a pleasure sharing this season with the true fans on BBI. THANK YOU.
and not only shout out to BBI

Despite the disappointing last two games. I don't know how much they can do to improve this team in the offseason if they're really trying to cut back on the payroll but I guess we'll see. I just expect them to re-sign Tanaka and re-sign Sabathia and Frazier to short term deals. I expect mostly the same team to return with more of the young guys being worked in through the season as injuries happen.

What Cashman really needs to do is figure out how to get rid of Castro and Ellsbury. Castro can provide some hitting during the season but he's a negative in the playoffs. Hopefully Torreyes would be able to hold 2B down until Torres is ready. Ellsbury is just useless dead weight. I suppose they'd have to package a good prospect or two with him just to get rid of him and I doubt that's happening. I would include Headley in there but he only has one year left and they seem to like him as somewhat of a 1B/3B/DH utility guy now.
Ellsbury is stuck here, no amount of crafty GMing by Ca$h is going to rid the team of him him less they eat 80+% of his remaining money. Headley should be bought out. I’m sure he’s a nice guy and tries hard but he sucks and is a complete liability. The Yankees won’t eat the last year of his deal since its $13M, but it would be addition by subtraction.

Team well exceeded expectations.
Good season

Just not ready yet, cant play like that on the road in a series and win, they scored 3 runs in 4 games in Houston. But let’s get psyched I think next 4 or 5 years are going to be more of this type of team and wild ride. Only positive is I get to not listen to Joe Buck anymore, I don’t Fu$king care that guy sucks and roots against all New York teams, he’s a huge loser who should be not be on national games anymore , 21 years is enough when he’s no longer doing it I’m throwing a huge party and drinking till I pass out I hate him so much , he’s so bad I’m telling you, he’s horrible. I can’t stand him. HAte his guts and f Houston and their midget too, rant over.
Yep, great season.

For me it was the most fun since maybe 1996. Hopefully we add Otani, and Gleyber and Frazier have great rookie seasons.

We can't commit multiple years (which he'll get) with Torres and Andujar in the pipeline, plus Machado looming in free agency. That may save Headley for a year as the swing 1B/3B.

Me too. Adding Torres to this team almost seems unfair, but it's going to happen.
Oh well boys it was a great run
Stu11 : 10/21/2017 11:41 pm : link
To bad it ended a week or so too early. Houston was a legit better team for 162 games and the earned home field and took advantage as this was basically 2 series in one depending on where the game was played. It was a great 7 months bantering back and forth with you guys sharing the ups and downs. The future is very bright and hopefully going forward we have great regular seasons and make sure these deciding games are played in our house.

The O’s are going to hand Machado a blank check. I’d truly be surprised if he ever played for another organization, even in today’s crazy free agency.

seems to think the Dodgers will steamroll the Astros and would have done the same to the Yankees had they made it. Who knows what's going on with Seager if he plays and the Astros rotation matches up very well with LA's. I guess we'll see but I think Houston can beat them. They had a great season but they aren't the wrecking crew they're made out to be.
Oh well, bummer of an ending, but Astros were just better the
mfsd : 10/21/2017 11:51 pm : link
last 2 nights. They earned home field advantage over 162 and it paid off in this series.

I hate falling back on moral victories, but there’s so much to be excited about with the Yanks future. Add to all that a ton of great experience in playoff games like the last 2 weeks against the best teams in baseball. Guys like Judge, Bird, Sanchez, Didi et al will remember these games and ABs and hopefully be better hitters in the future bc of it.

Yanks know they can play with anyone...but also know they have to be even better if they want to reach the mountaintop.

Great time talking baseball with all my fellow Yankee fans here all season and especially the last couple weeks!!

Dodgers lineup vs. Houston bullpen is a total mismatch
Dodgers have an underrated, strong bullpen
Kershaw and Darvish > Keuchel and Verlander

And will be good for a looong time.
Youth, power, a good pipeline, good bullpen, money to buy whoever wants to pitch/play for a winner and get to a WS.
So might the Yanks-Sox rivalry if they play Cora-ball...otherwise a Sox get owned 13-5 in the season series.

Also Turner had one of those Daniel Murphy series, can't expect him to repeat. Houston has a lot of holes to exploit - no bullpen, a weak catcher, and Roberts will make sure Altuve and Correa get nothing to hit. If the Yankees just committed to not throwing a single strike to Altuve and Correa all series they would have won easily. They are the only hitters on the team that can hit anything about mediocre/tired pitching.

Turning point of the game
GentleGiant : 10/22/2017 12:03 am : link
Bregman throwing out Bird at the plate. What sticks in my craw is that the replay shows Bird not taking a single step toward home with the pitch, he was flat-footed when Frazier hit the ball. Someone's gotta teach that boy to move, he's not playing in Little League anymore.

Yeah, these young guys certainly have things to work on in the offseason. Bird with his baserunning, Judge with toning down the K's, Gary with... actually catching a ball thrown to him.

Who gives a shit that they were lucky to even get to a 7th game. To have a lead in the 9th inning and lose the way they did is absolutely gut wrenching. Add on top of that 9/11 and it was just absolutely brutal.

2004 sucked, i was even there for game 7, but I didn't feel half as bad after that as I did 2001. Even if they won the ALCS that year they still had to win four more games. Yanks were 3 outs away from winning a title and they gave up one hard hit ball all inning and lost. I'll be surprised if I ever see a baseball game that hurts as much as that one did going forward. I certainly hope I don't have to see one worse

that's a fucking shitload of strikeouts! I hope that number goes down and it should as he matures and gets to know the pitchers. Kris Bryant struck out 199 his rookie year and is down to 128 this year.
