TE Evan Engram

Postgame vs. Seattle Seahawks, Oct. 22, 2017

Q: Why do you think it was such a struggle on offense?

A: They just played great defense. They disrupted the run. We had some big plays going and had one called back. The defense just played really well. We need to execute better.

Q: On that play when you were out of bounds, did you get knocked out?

A: I was pushed out. I guess that’s not the rule. It should be the rule. If you get pushed out, you should be able to come back in and touch the ball. I was pushed out. It was a big play. It hurt bringing it back but we need more of those plays.

Q: How do you feel about the overall state of the offense?

A: I felt good about it. We have to do things better. There is a lot of stuff we could be better at. We wanted to get out and run the ball today. We have to be better than that. We had some plays that we have to make downfield. I’m behind my guys but there are some things that we can do better as a unit.

Q: Has it been more challenging not having those guys around you, the other receivers?

A: No. It’s a next man up mentality. Of course we miss their big-play capability, definitely. They’re some of the best in the game. We have to step up and make plays, too. Yes, it’s not good without those guys. We would love to have them but we still have to come out, play and make plays.

Q: How important is it getting Shepard back after the bye?

A: It’s big. This bye week is big. Good time for everyone to get right, 100 percent. Talking to him, he’s ready to get back.

Q: Ho much splitting out did you do at receiver today?

A: I was everywhere. It’s hard to keep count. I was just moving around.

Q: What went right on your TD?

A: Sold the run. We were in that package. We ran the ball and were trying to punch the ball in that package. We play-actioned it, they bit and I was able to slip on the defense. Eli threw a great ball.

Q: There were some three and outs when you needed to move the ball.

A: Yeah, it was frustrating. That’s not good. It’s not good for the defense or the offense. We have to try and eliminate those.

Q: How have the coverages been for you the last two weeks?

A: A lot of teams are playing man. A lot of one-on-one matchups. Some teams are playing zones to take away stuff, outside leverage, inside leverage. The defense is throwing different stuff at us but they keep true to what their defense is. We just go with it.

Q: How frustrating is 1-6 at this point?

A: You definitely don’t aim for this at the beginning of the season. It’s tough. Our backs are against the wall. We have to stick together and keep fighting.
