The Giants won’t have much work to do to turn in an inactive list Sunday against the Rams. They’ve already declared six players out for this week’s game, including right tackle Justin Pugh (back) and center Weston Richburg (concussion). Also out are linebackers Jonathan Casillas and BJ Goodson, and defensive ends Olivier Vernon and Kerry Wynn. Cornerback Donte Deayon is questionable with an ankle injury, but being though injury depleted has left the Giants that way as a whole. |
If we were 6-1 , would the injury report be different?
Maybe high ankle?

Bingo
Now this kid is no dummy he is the environmental engineer
for BAE .
Right now it's a toss up between Vernon and JPP there not exactly the NY sack exchange . How much money do we have invested in these two ?
Doubtful he plays another game this season.
With each passing week. With each loss and with all this drama, shutting it down is looking more and more likely.
Pugh's has been slightly less disastrous - but he's failed to shake the injury prone label. He likes to compare himself to Zeitler - but Zeitler's a better G than Pugh is a G or T, and he doesn't miss games.
Meanwhile Flower, like the energizer bunny, just keeps going. Never gets hurt, plays through all minor injuries, and is improving weekly. Good for him.
That's not entirely fair - he's been out what, a month? That might have been a long time 10 years ago, but not so much now.

Flowers has quietly played much better for many weeks. His grit and toughness were never questioned. I'm still not sure he wouldn't be better as a guard, but there is no question he's been much improved.
Oates, Godfrey, benson, O’Hara, dielhl, seubert to name a few always manned up.
...in one of his write-ups.
Eli might want to go with the flack jacket this week .
Agreed.
Banks was just on and thinks otherwise..says they are playing to win and have a run at playoffs

He's on another planet, then.
And that Vernon contract is looking worse and worse every week.
You ever been kicked in the head with an Iron Boot? No, of course not. That never happens. Forget I said anything..
Whatever, it is what it is at this point.
If you remember, the Giants had many guys hurt during the season. All of a sudden going into Week 17 with a chance to make the playoffs, I remember Coughlin reading off the injury report and he reported NO injuries to any player and all were participating.
We would after the season find out what injuries guys were really playing with. But during the big run, none of the injuries were mentioned.
But when you are losing...suddenly that ankle feels a little extra sore. That knee injury needs an extra week. And so on.
Why is is that when teams are going through losing seasons (particularly late in the season), their injury reports seem to far exceed those of winning teams? We've gone through this.
It may be a tough charge to say guys are "mailing it in." But since we've seen how the "injury game" seems to work in the NFL, it is not completely outrageous to make the claim some guys in big losing years would rather protect themselves then return to the field for this sinking ship.

I'll admit, this season has been such a bummer I haven't been paying close enough attention to the injury list, but I thought he went out three weeks ago with an ankle injury that was supposedly day to day?
Maybe high ankle?
OV hurt his ankle vs the Eagles and when he probably should've stayed out the game from there he attempt to get back out there on the field and most likely injured even further.
If others can't go, Giants may need PS help.
They got Ian Allen on speed dial!
This is a real issue.....is he resignable?
The guy is nearly guaranteed to miss games every single year. And this is in a contract year.

He has missed games every single year. Thank goodness that we had the bye last week. If he is signed this off-season, I would hope the Giants protect themselves by limiting his compensation to being active on gameday.

I wouldn't resign him, but with the state of the OL, whomever is the GM may have to. Whatever amount he signs for, you have to calculate what the backup makes and consider that the total salary to fill one position. He has only played 16 games his rookie year. This is now a 2 week injury. I wouldn't be surprised to see him milk it for another week.
These guys might care about winning, but they are not going to risk their careers pushing the envelope on injuries at 1-6.
Can t blame them.
But is it possible the injury list MIGHT be shorter at 6-1? Possible, no?
Save all the injured possible for the Suck-4-1 playoffs.
If we were 6-1 , would the injury report be different?
players have checked out ... it's quite obvious. quite frankly, i "dislike" this team.

I may be wrong, but I dont think they have to report the injuries during the bye week. So, these guys could have been hurt but now just a few days before the game they are required to report it. just a thought...
2-6 is still a big SUCK with 3 division games and an additional 3 toplevel opponents left on the back half.
Keep Eli alive...play ' the bodies'....let the auditions begin!
I'm not advocating Suck4...or going thru motions...but why make a current injury even worse?
