Not really a shocker but the article was an interesting read. Says other guys smoke before the game, curious how common that could be...
Also being so open, I do wonder if he actually turned a corner mentally
"Football is not who I am. It's what I do. And for me, everything that you may see or read, it's all through one lens, it's one perception. And unfortunately, living in a world where you're in the public eye, perception is their reality. But for me, my reality is entirely different. It's being a father now to a two-year-old daughter. It's being a good friend, a teammate, a son, a brother. The normal things are what I'm prioritizing now," he finished. |
That said, hard to believe he could be in NFL shape. He was very talented. Only 26 years old.

No 'safe amount' of substance can numb the pain of the next 8 football weeks.
Only thing is to numb the intensity for your interest in wins. Acceptance of loses for me is tempered by the offset: getting a better than or solidifying our current #3 pick position in the draft...and since a loss to SF is quite possible, then #2 pick.
Me.

Me.

I used to a lot. Part of the reason why I go to meetings 3 times a week.
I'm rooting for this kid. Turn around stories are the best.
Not trying to make excuses for him, and not suggesting that is what it was, just wondering why you would do it before a game rather than afterwards.
Pretty surprising, as Xanax is not a drug I'd expect a player to take before a game (or even want to take before a game). I cannot fathom going to the gym on bars, let alone playing an NFL game.
The crazy thing is that he was given a Xanax in SEVENTH grade and got hooked then. He's 26 now, so you're looking at 04/05... Prescription rx abuse is a scourge around the whole country.
Yeah, me neither. Going to work while high or buzzed sounds absolutely un-fun to me.
Anyway, it sounds like Gordon is in a better place mentally now and has grown up a bit. He'll have to prove it, but I'll be rooting for him to be an impact player in this league again free of substance-abuse.
Takes the edge off..............
Makes Gordon seem like a lightweight in comparison
He was reinstated on a "conditional basis". Cleveland is clearly not the place for him though reading that article. The things people did to him was despicable
Very nice Musical Youth reference
"It a gonna burn, give me music make me jump and prance"
