Lost in the (expletive deleted) season, Manning stats

Eric from BBI : Admin : 11/7/2017 3:47 pm
Historically speaking, he is entering some rarefied air:

Manning needs 1,442 more yards to pass Pro Football Hall of Famer John Elway (51,475) and move into sixth place on the NFL’s career list.

Manning has thrown 332 touchdown passes, which also places him seventh in league history. He needs 11 more to pass Hall of Famer and former Giant Fran Tarkenton to move into sixth place.

Manning has thrown 7,121 regular-season passes. Yes, that is also the seventh-highest total in history. He needs to throw 130 passes to pass Elway (7,250).

***********

And unrelated, but somewhat surprising stat:

The Rams completed five passes of 35 or more yards, the first time a Giants opponent accomplished that feat since Oct. 27, 1986, in a Monday night victory against Washington.
Let's Go Mets

to say the least.
Ah, 10-27-86

Joe Jacoby locked on LT pre-snap and standing up when the crowd erupts following Ray Knight's HR; the penalty flag raised the decibel level to 11.

Schroeder looking like a punt-pass-kick contestant heaving the ball as far as he could all night.

Smuggling dozens of beers into the old stadium in hoodies, false bottom gym bags...

Good times.
That was a great Monday night!

Only thing was, as a student at Cortland State, by the time we were ready to celebrate, NOTHING WAS OPEN! lol We ended up at Friendly's for ice cream. Such rookies.
False bottoms

I can’t believe that worked.

I saw a guy at a concert once that had beer sleeves sewn into his pant legs. Genius until the pat downs came
Was hoping after Eli eclipsed the 30 td plateau
The_Boss : 11/7/2017 4:57 pm : link
With McAdoo as OC, he’d get to 400 td passes in his career. I don’t think he has time to get there after these last 2 seasons.
And his win loss record
Les in TO : 11/7/2017 5:56 pm : link
Is somewhere between Matt hasselbeck and Mark Brunell.
I think very few lose sight of that
jcn56 : 11/7/2017 6:02 pm : link
Not all - but very few.

That said - a lot of what we're talking about is in the past. It remains to be seen if Eli still has it in him, and to what extent. People haven't forgotten who Eli was, just debate whether he can still operate at nearly the same level.

It's a team game. There are years where a QB elevates his team and masks it's short comings, for Eli that was 2011. Since then the supporting cast has been dwindling to mediocre. I believe Eli needs to have a power run game and a strong defense kinda like Simms had in 1993, or Elway had in 1998 or Payton had in his last year.

He is smart, he still has arm strength. He needs help.

If it doesn’t happen here it will happen with another team.
His won loss record?
Giant John : 11/7/2017 8:16 pm : link
Do you mean the teams record? I've yet to watch a QB who won a game by himself.

You have never seen a QB takeover a game and be a difference maker? Did you watch the super bowl last year as brady calmly and methodically picked apart the falcons defense in the second half.

The QB position is most determinative of wins - they touch the ball on each offensive play, have the ability to change plays and their ability to make smart, athletic and accurate plays/throws make the key difference in games.
Eli is actually starting to fall into trent dilfer territory in terms of regular season performance win/loss performance.

The stats quoted by Eric reflect Eli's longevity but he is also now 10th all time in QB fumbles and 19th all time in interceptions thrown and with lots of opportunity to grow in those categories too.

You're way off base. His W-L record of .534, since you care, is better than a lot of HOF QBs, for example Fran Tarkenton and Dan Fouts. Also his 2 SB wins is way up near the top of HOF QB's two, as is his 2 SB MVPs. The Eli-haters know no bounds. When Eli is gone you will be changing your tune.
so it's....Here is what Eli did so far....
BCD : 11/7/2017 9:49 pm : link
alltime yds ...tds..so we can't say it's his fault and we need to keep him until the Giants move to Maryland in 2022...and hope he can play a few yrs after that ...Hell!
he give us 2 SBs and he can stay until his doctor orders his wheel chair....

the Eli fanboys also will twist any stat like passes attempted to demonstrate his greatness. A lot of those attempted passes were in garbage time after he failed to score in the first half. Maybe you enjoy watching the Giants lose consistently but I don't. I'm a Giants fan first and this is big blue interactive not Eli Manning interactive.
Right it's not Manning's W-L record it's the team
NewBlue : 11/7/2017 10:15 pm : link
This is correct, so when we say "Manning won 2 Super Bowls" remember, it was the team

Wow!
I wonder if Pittsburgh fans or San Diego former fans would agree with your opinion on that QB draft class in reference to their QBs?

Sad to call yourself a Giants fan and throw our greatest statistical and accomplished QB under the bus.

Just sad.

I would hate to be in your family.
Dialogue must go something like this at Thanksgiving .

“Did you enjoy the turkey?”

“Yes!! 😡 Why wasn’t there more of it!!! I had two platefuls and I wanted six!!!!l

“Sorry that all they had at the store.”

I feel bad for you.
Get well soon.

was telling someone about these stats or milestones

and their words were.."eli manning..mr add on" another words just padding his stats in meaningless times in games.

oye vey
Hmmm...

Another words = in other words

Did Namath, Tarkenton, Montana, Fouts pad their stats at the end of their careers?

Some of you guys are a joke.
I think
