and if people want to save it, I'd suggest downloading it now, I've traded games with Richard Waldrup in the past and the NFL will shut his site down soon.

Anyway, this was the first Monday Night game I ever attended. And a few fun facts. This was the 3rd straight year Tom Flynn returned a blocked punt for a TD. Pepper Johnson filled in for LT because of a drug suspension, hence his late sack/fumble on Burt's TD. And the Giants record for most sacks by a LB in a game is actually not LT, it's Pepper, who had 4.5 vs. Tampa Bay in 1991.
down 13 points no problem

see how in this game early on our Offensive line was struggling, but were able to get it together. And our defense flat early picked it up late. Great teams they were in the late 80s.

Dam, I thought he was forced to retire before 86? I would have lost money on that one ...

of those games were awesome because of the defensive scores, plus the blocked punt, and Byron Williams' great run after the catch.
Spent the other day watching

the 14-7 win in Denver in 1989.

This was the game the last 3rd and 30+ to go resulted in a TD. Only, we pulled off. Great play by Dave Meggett.

Denver would go on to the Super Bowl a few weeks later. Giants, coming off two losses to the 49ers and Eagles after starting the season 9-2, going on the road and getting that W. Season easily could've spiraled.

No Jumbo Elliott. Odessa Turner didn't make the trip either. LT with a broken ankle and back spasms the day of the game.

Talk about toughness. I'm sure this was one of Parcell's favorite games. On the road, short handed against a top team and you get the W.

The 84 one saw LT strip sack twice rushing up the middle. It was the first sign that things were changing and though Dallas was still a thorn (both games in 85 changed where the Giants ended up that year) they were no longer Dominate over the Giants.
One very interesting thing
jvm52106 : 11/8/2017 9:37 am : link
and it kind of applies to 2017. Look at the week 1 starting offensive line:

LT- William Roberts
LG- Billy Ard
C- Bart Oates
RG- Doug Riesenberg
RT- Karl Nelson

That was the starting line for week 1. By the end of the season the Giants offensive line would be:

LT- Jumbo Elliott
LG- William Roberts
C- Bart Oates
RG- Eric Moore
Rt- Dough Riesenberg

The Giants took their starting LT and moved him to LG. They took their starting RG and moved him to RT (that was because Nelson was injured and after trying Elliott there they went with Riesenberg) and brought in their 1st and 2nd RD draft picks from 88 into the starting lineup.

You can't be afraid to move guys to new positions if they are struggling where they are. The Giants were a winning team in 88 and were one stupid play away from being 11-5, winning the East and probably would have been a major thorn for the 49ers in the playoffs, even with a ton of injuries and an offensive line that took half the season to come into shape.

That is the way I felt Jvm also. That victory almost seemed like the changing of the guard or at least the beginning of the change. Not sure why I picked that game (in my head at the time) but, it just hit me that way. I remember thinking "woah ... these are not the same Giants that showed little flashes of success since '81 and being a fan all during the 70's I was especially not going to allow myself to get excited emotionally until I had consistent evidence. But, there was something about that game (after the dominant victory) ... that I wasn't afraid to let my guard down : ) and felt (gut feeling) things were different.

Great times and memories .... for a Giant's fan.
