I hope Jacksonville goes far this year

TurdFurguson : 11/7/2017 9:42 pm
Not sure how much impact TC has on the day to day, but from what I read heís brought the standard to the locker room. Seems to be working.

Also would be a nice FU to the Giants after what weíre seeing here.
I donít think Coughlinís influence is in any doubt

Jax was, outside of the Browns, the biggest loser franchise in the NFL. He returns and has turned the franchise fortunes around in 8 weeks.
Nice defense. Better running game. Underperforming

passing game because Bortles is suspect. But the players are really giving an effort, especially on defense. Watching Marcel Dareus and C. Campbell play on that d-line is fun. These guys hustle all over the field.

I am rooting for them for certain...

Acually...this makes the most sense. Loyalty was, and still is Iíd bet, to Coughlin. As crazy as it sounds, I wouldnít be surprised to him in Jax next year if Giants were thinking about benching him.

who are rooting for the Giants to get a real 'FU'.

Here's a thought - you're not required to be Giants fans. Jacksonville has a team, you can get their games online and via TV - knock yourselves out.

Meanwhile - before you guys wet yourselves in glee - remember the Giants were 11-5 last season post-Coughlin. And the thing most of you point towards, the '200 million FA spree' - it was 160 million in Jacksonville, and that team just came off drafting high for years on end. Might want to play the long game here.

Yea, Iím not in for a big FU to the Giants. But i genuinely think Eli would raise that team to the next level.
I'm pulling for Jax, too.
Red Dog : 11/7/2017 11:38 pm : link
Not only for TC, but also for HC Doug Marrone, the guy the GIANTS SHOULD HAVE hired when they pushed TC out. Marrone is a very key reason for the turn around down there.

However, I don't think Eli wants to be there, and I think it would be a huge mistake for the GIANTS to let Eli leave to go anywhere except his living room couch. They really need him around while his successor, whether it is Webb or somebody they draft this spring, sits and learns from him for a couple of years.

Look at the statistics of that 11-5 year. We had a lot go right in our direction as far as luck goes in order to get that far. Yes, the defense looked great and by all appearances should have been even better this year. But the number of tipped balls that went into our hands, as well as fumbles recovered were extremely high. Both are 50/50-type plays that went in our favor last year. We're not creating near the same amount of opportunities this year, and so not even putting ourselves in the position to get to that point.

Plus, our offense outside of Beckham was anemic. We had and still have no ground game, one of the worst offensive lines in football, and this year you're seeing all that come to a head. Tac on an easy schedule and 11-5 becomes pretty clear.

As far as being required to be a Giants fan goes, not sure how that's relevant. My point was simply the Giants let go of the wrong man last year. I've pointed out enough times how unlucky Coughlin was his last few years with injuries (historically so) as well as the terrible draft classes not helping out.

I don't gamble. My team stinks so as the season unfolds, I pick a couple of teams that I'd like to see go to the Super Bowl. It's Jags & Vikings for me.

Then there are the teams I don't want to see going . Three there: Cowboys, Eagles and Seahawks . Such are the enfeebled ruminations of a fan whose team is completely lost. I'll watch the Giants until they start taking their games off the air. While I can , I will pay attention to see if any of the young guys show promise . What else ?
Why is coughlin getting credit
Jesse B : 11/8/2017 7:03 am : link
For how hard the players are trying.? Isn't that Marrones job? And Jacksonville is also playing well because when you pick top 5 six years in a row and spend a $160 million on defense you're bound to run into some talent.

but count me in the group that is perplexed as to why he's getting credit. They have had 6 years top picks,a good coach, and what turns out to be the best FA pickup of the year. Every one of their nostrums proven wrongheaded. Pay them no mind as they know not of what they speak.

It's fair game at this point to have interest in some team that isnt embarassing itself on the field. The Jaguars are a story, whether you dead enders like it or not: team has not won more than 5 games in a season in 7 years in a dogfight with the Titans, another story, for first place. And the Jags are having some success playing Giants football: commitment to the run game, throw the ball down the field, tough defense.
Sure they are - they're just going it with someone else coaching

I did, and he definitely made mistakes to cost the games. But he also had three seasons of ridiculous injury bugs. Lost his starting RB forever, lost his number one DE to fireworks. Compound that with zero help from line drafts and he was set up to fail.

His clock management at the end was Andy Reid-Eagles level bad, but 51-17 does not happen under Coughlin

You have season tickets - did you miss the last game at Giants Stadium, with the playoffs still on the line and the Giants playing a Matt Moore lead Panthers team?

It didn't end much better - 41-9, and that was with a lot more at stake. Let's not pretend that this kind of shit didn't happen before.

We get it - at this point, you're a Coughlin fan more than you are a Giants fan. That's OK. If you've reached the FU stage - then is it really wise to continue following this team? Does that seem like money well spent?

Are you joking?

2009
41-9 loss at home to a bad Panthers team with the playoffs on the line.
44-7 loss to the Vikings

2010
45-17 loss to the Packers with the playoffs on the line

2012
34-0 loss to the Falcons, followed by 33-14 to the Ravens in a game that wasn't nearly as close as the score. Giants went from controlling their own destiny to being on the outside looking in on the playoff picture.

2013
38-0 loss to the Panthers
31-7 loss to the Chiefs

2015
49-17 loss to the Vikings

There were plenty of embarrassing blowout losses under Coughlin.
The Giants seem to have quit this season, and it's a damn shame
jcn56 : 11/8/2017 1:16 pm : link
Anyone who was in the stands for that 41-9 debacle - the last game at Giants Stadium, against a similarly inept Panthers team on a backup QB - who thought that team looked interested in playing a football game that day doesn't know what the hell they were looking at.

That was the game that sealed it for me - no season tickets, no PSL - and it stands as one of the best decisions I've ever made. This way, when the Giants shit the bed at least I can say 'well, at least I'm not losing money on this'. The alternative would have to be to reasonably remember that if I can cash in when the going is good, I have to take my losses when shit goes south.

I've been thinking this same thing the past few weeks. Very weird to see Giants fans seemingly enjoying the team sucking and hoping that other teams and former coaches make them look bad. I guess it's a way for some to be able to enjoy the best of both worlds... if they suck, they can take joy out of them sucking because a coach they liked is no longer with the team... and if they win, they can enjoy the success the team is having under the new coach! Win/Win!

Not sure why youíre on here trying to call me out for something I opined on. Donít like what I say, donít post or ignore. Yes, blowouts happen, including under Coughlin. Something about 50-17 rubbed me the wrong way as far as effort goes. Maybe you can tell more about how the panthers game effort was. Posted in haste so yes, I missed a few blowouts on his record.

As for the Panthers game, I actually missed the first half of that one as I just started a job. Had to watch the second half when I got out in utter missery. So yeah, I am a TC fan. Also been a life long Giants fan. Not sure why I canít be both.

Wait a minute. He was mentioned as a possibility and a fair number of people thought Marrone would be a good choice. I was one. My view when I hearf that the Jags got Marrone as HC and TC in management is that the Jags would be a force in the NFL in two years. They are showing signs now and are one of those teams that you would not want to face in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, we have a HC who had ZERO HCing experience and seems like that should have remained the status quo. In addition, our lack of being able to fill a huge talent gap on the o-line for multiple years because we acrewed up our aspects of the team should warrant a housecleaning.

The panther game to close Giants stadium was a complete embarrassment and the Giants were 8-6 and still alive for a playoff spot before that game Ann's the 6-8 panthers came in here with a back up QB and kicked our ass Matt Moore smh

So that I have this straight - you want to come over to a Giants board, say that you want another team to win to send a 'Fuck You' to the Giants, and if anyone doesn't like that, they should ignore you and not post?

Then again, what do you expect from a Turd?
Seems like the OP is talking about the Giants FO

when he says FU to the Giants. To be honest, I'd like to tell Jerry Reese to F off at this point. But hey...different strokes..

It's genuinely surprising the animosity you have toward my comment. Wanting Jacksonville to do well as a nod to TC is wrong? I can't wish well for the former 2X coach of this team? And yes, I believe the FO made a serious mistake in firing TC over Reese given the dumpster of team he had to make due with his last few years. He was far from perfect, but he never lost a locker room post 2008 as far as we know.

As for calling me out, I mean, what have you added other than pointing out that I was factually inaccurate about blowout wins under TC, which I admitted I was. My bad. You're right, I was mistaken. Continue trying to make something out of nothing.

Also would be a nice FU to the Giants after what weíre seeing here.

What Giants fan would write that? Hell, if you want to root elsewhere, nobody's stopping you - the NFL shop and the Sunday Ticket can have you set up in less than a day, you can forget you'd ever heard of the Giants.

Win/Win!

Did I say I wanted the Giants to lose? Nope, said I want Jax to win as an FU to the Giants. Management should bear the burden of this and some of them should be reminded of their failures via success of others. In my OP, said I had no idea how much influence was due to TC but have been reading he changed culter for the better.

Is it normal for people to be attacked for expressing opinions around here?

Why not just want want the Jags to win though?

Actually... never mind... I apologize for attacking you.

No apologies necessary T-bone. As stated, my FU is strictly on the front office and management. Players can't chose who they have to play for. I'm just tired of the false hope every draft brings this team only to be let down by Reese & Co. Team needs a new foundation, not what they have in place currently.
