NFT: Game Thread: Knicks (6-4) vs Magic (6-4) 7PM

LawrenceTaylor56 : 11/8/2017 6:52 pm
No KP tonight. Will be the first look at how impactful KP is to our team. With no KP, back to back on the road game against a rested Magic. Perfect storm against the Knicks.

Kuz activated for tonight. Would like to see Dotson get some burn.

Expected starters-

Jack-Lee-Hardaway-McDermott-Kanter

Payton-Fournier-Ross-Gordon-Vucevic
no KP

I don’t know why I put McDermott

Yeah, it's Beasley. Will be interesting to see how he does.

Drive to the basket.

What does Beasley exactly do, here?
Yeah Beasley's brutal
bceagle05 : 11/8/2017 7:27 pm : link
and doesn't really fit what we're trying to do.
what was Hardaway doing there?
Del Shofner : 11/8/2017 7:37 pm : link
Let Frank play PG.

Back to back with travel is showing.
Lazy passes and no energy on d

bringing the laughs tonight.
I think Frank's doing enough
bceagle05 : 11/8/2017 9:14 pm : link
to take the starting spot. Foul trouble will be an issue but so be it. We have vets backing him up.
sloppy game.
Enzo : 11/8/2017 9:21 pm : link
Why not give Sessions some mins with Jack coming off a back to back? Also, we only attempted 12 3s (one was a heave) and barely got to the line. Hard to win in today's NBA like that.

AKA scheduled mandated losses.

Ummmm.... how long is this Michael Beasley experiment supposed
shockeyisthebest8056 : 11/8/2017 10:44 pm : link
to last and what are they expecting to get from it? Jarrett Jack played like he smoked a blunt before the game. He was so bad offensively AND defensively in the third quarter that Horny yanked him after just 4 minutes. It was nice to see Willy finally get some run and score some baskets.

Aaron Gordon has really improved a ton. The turnovers and freakin' Fournier looking like MJ lost them the game.
It's tough to sit a player for a week and then run him out there
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/8/2017 10:48 pm : link
and expect good things.
To be honest
LawrenceTaylor56 : 11/8/2017 10:48 pm : link
yeah it was sloppy basketball. It was turnover heavy, back to back night with traveling and we were missing our #1. With that being said, I'm glad at the fight the Knicks put up.

Frank looked good. Hardaway drove and penetrated, not a bad game. Enes the Menace is an albatross on defense. He brings it though on the offensive side.

Surprised Kuz and Dotson didn't get more burn, especially with the rumor of them shopping Kuz.
Really strange patterns out there tonight.
manh george : 11/9/2017 12:23 am : link
The starting five, minus KP and with Beasely, had a cumulative +/- of -79, or an average of -15.8. The entire bench that played had a cumulative =/- of 14, or an average of +2.8. McDermott +8, O'Quinn +6, Lance +5.

Of course, the starters had a godawful 16 turnovers, the backups had 7.

Among other things, I think the team was badly psyched out by KP's unavailability. But still, those are disastrously bad numbers. I think Jack is wearing down (6 TO). I fear that Frank isn't ready to start, but he may have to. As the Knicks move excess players, they may need to get a better veteran pg, and ultimately jettison both Sessions and Jack.
Expected more out of THJR

If he is going to be #2 guy on this team, he needs to carry the water when the #1 guy is out.

You expected more than 26 and 11 on 52% shooting?

he had 26 points and 11 rebounds, seriously?
I feel like people are going to just keep
LawrenceTaylor56 : 11/9/2017 7:41 am : link
beating up THj because of his contact. The guy has been solid for us this year. He's not an all-star. If that's what you are expecting, then you might as well not bother watching the Knicks.
Contract*
LawrenceTaylor56 : 11/9/2017 7:41 am : link
not contact
Stat line looks good
GiantsUA : 11/9/2017 7:46 am : link
He has a glint in his eye and looks like he is focused on shooting only. I don't think he has a high basketball IQ, I don't think he can fill the role they want him to fill, we will see.

He has a glint in his eye? What the hell are you talking about? Focused on shooting only? Did you not notice the last 5 quarters he's been driving it to the rack? Which allowed him to open up his shots. But yeah, he has a glint in his eye.
People see the contract and think all star...
Italianju : 11/9/2017 8:40 am : link
but that contract is really just what a solid young player gets these days.

He was good last night. He is never going to carry a team. Nobody thinks he can be the second best player on a team that is challenging for the east.

Also the team had 23 turnovers. 23!!! Your asking a lot for THJR to overcome that and carry the team to victory

I guess the implied glint in his eye and low basketball IQ trump the actual stats he produced?

What the fuck does that even mean? Glint in his eye like Santa Claus?

Didn’t you know that’s how these scouts evaluate talent? They look for the glint. Whatever the fuck that means.
Haha! Glint in his eye?
BigBlueShock : 11/9/2017 8:53 am : link
That’s the first time I’ve ever heard that used as proof that a player sucks.

“See! There it is! That damn ray of light in his eye is his damn downfall!”

I thought at first this guy seen a piece of lint in his eye that he thought was affecting his performance, and got autocorrected. Yikes.
if his name was tim hardaway jr
nygiants16 : 11/9/2017 8:58 am : link
nobody would be ripping him

absolutely ridiculous anyone could rip him for the game he played last night
So now..
FatMan in Charlotte : 11/9/2017 9:03 am : link
he isn't even Tim Hardaway Jr??

This thread has taken a strange turn:)
I hated him the first time he was a Knick, hated that they brought
Greg from LI : 11/9/2017 9:07 am : link
him back, hate that they're paying him a fortune to be mediocre.
