exactly jump out at me as damning indictments of a head coach.

He's got us going 80 percent on Saturdays before we get on a plane to play a game. It's wild. Changed our off day. He's dishing out fines like crazy.Suspended two of our stars when we need them the most. Throws us under the bus all the time.
We have to work on Saturday! OMG we have off Monday instead of Tuesday!
Fines - well for what, maybe they're deserved. TC fined a lot of guys too, I bet every coach does. The suspensions - one guy didn't show up for a practice and didn't bother
telling the team. The other guy was apparently blatantly insubordinate.
And there's a fine line between holding people accountable and throwing them under the bus.
Maybe Ben has lost the team and I have no problem with replacing him but jeez these guys sound like malcontents who maybe need to take a look in the mirror.
players quoted must be a vet who goes back to the Coughlin regime:
“I feel like we really don't got a leader in Coach McAdoo. Going from Coach [Tom] Coughlin, a leader who just had that presence.“
Reality is there aren’t many guys left from Coughlins last year in 2015. We know this isn’t Eli...so who else is left? OBJ, Vereen, Darkwa, Flowers, Hart, Jones on offense, JPP, Wynn, Bromley, Kennard, Casillas, Behre, DRC, Collins on defense. Plus Wing and DeOssie on specials.
DRC and Collins have publicly defended McAdoo about this, so I’d assume it’s not either of them.
Personally, I think anyone who gives a quote to the media anonymously is a gutless loser. All of this may be true about McAdoo...but leaking anonymous quotes to the media is the act of a coward
"McAdoo has been leading the same way he led last year. So, I don't knock the way he has been doing things," Collins said. "Fining people like crazy? If you don't follow the rules, you get in trouble because you got to pay the consequences. I wouldn't say he lost the team. I have the utmost respect for him. He's been doing a great job. Just trying to figure it out like we all are.
Sounds like a guy looking for his next contract......
DRC?
"But I'm telling you, [McAdoo] has our support," Rodgers-Cromartie added. "It's just been a tough season. It is what it is.
"It's everybody's fault. It's not just one person to blame. Can't just blame Coach McAdoo. Can't blame [general manager] Mr. [Jerry] Reese. Can't blame the offensive staff. It's everybody."
Also sounds like a guy, hoping he is on the team next year,
for 6.5 M, at the age of 32.....and DRC, why did you leave that game?
Nobody is going to "officially" say there is something wrong, to avoid repercussions.....the anonymous guys don't have that fear.....
players have to look in the mirror.
DRC agreed w/Collins about Mc not losing the team.
MIGHT be the 2 players are spoiled, arent starting but think they should be guys.
In any case there are likely supporters on both sides; just wonder if its enough to have a basically truly divided locker room.
RE: Note this quote, would indicate one of the anonymous Â
McAdoo doesn't deserve a whole lot of defending at this point - but it amazes me how much football players complain about too much practice, being overworked, etc.
You're a professional athlete. This is part of your job. Players used to have to deal with 2 a days and much more rigorous practices. These guys have it fucking easy now and they still complain.
Some of these players wouldn't practice at all if they had a choice.

A little inside baseball on how this would work at a lot of publications: First, it's not considered ok to quote someone anonymously and by name in the same story. If they're on the record, great. If they're giving you a quote on not-for-attribution, fine. But it's one or the other. So, yes, if Collins and DRC are defending McAdoo, it's safe to assume that they're not McAdoo's anonymous critics.
It would also be a huge red flag for the reporter if a guy who attacked the coach privately defended him publicly. If that happens you have to wonder which quote is sincere, and whether you can trust this guy as a source at all.

In theory, anonymity is supposed to be reserved for people who could be harmed if they went public by name. It's really not supposed to be a gossipy thing, where you dish in private. But that rule isn't honored much these days.
I once heard a very fine reporter who covers the TV business having a conversation with a source. "When are you going to write about what an asshole (network chief) is?" asked the source. "When someone will go on the record and say so," said the reporter. He could easily have written "A producer said (network chief) is an asshole" but that's not how it's supposed to work.

As a reporter, you want people to feel free to talk to you. Those relationships are your currency. Sometimes a source wants to get something out into the press, sometimes you need a story. Each side uses the other for its own advantage. I expect these two players wanted to get this into the news. That's a very dangerous game for them -- everybody can narrow it just as far as you did. Cowardly? Maybe. But it's a common media strategy in just about every field.
Players shouldn't be going at or near full speed Â
...anybody that wants to bury their head in the sand, can't any longer. McAdoo acts and looks like a complete AH. I'm sure there are many more than 2 players that feel the same. He is the kind of idiot that forces his schemes onto the players and drills them into the ground (and during the game) until "they get it right". How else do you explain his stubbornness to change anything, even when getting slaughtered. He actually thinks that if they just keep doing the same thing over and over (and getting the same results) that eventually they will understand his schemes and the light bulb will go off. That's just the type of moron this team doesn't need.
you know, since he didn't want to let us know that McAdoo got canned...

I have learned my lesson 10x over not to post the rumors I hear from my agent contacts, you know with the Midwest scene and all. I'm over that nonsense.
I will say this though....God Bless this team and the way they do business.
How does anyone know the comments were made by a Giants player?
I know accusations of "fake news" are all the rage these days, but this comes down to the reputation and reliability of the outlet. If it was InfoWars or WorldNet Daily or some random website I'd never heard of before, I'd be very skeptical. ESPN's sports coverage is pretty reliable, at least to the extent that they're not know to make stuff up.
If ESPN reported it, I believe the quotes are real. That's not the same as the sources being correct. I've been burned by sources who fed me bad info. In this situation, there's only so much you can do to fact-check. If one guy says "The coach has lost the team" you look for a second, independent source. Once you have a second guy saying the same thing, you have a reportable story. But the story is "Two Giants Say McAdoo Has Lost the Team," not "McAdoo Has Lost the Team." If that makes sense.
I doubt they are highly paid players. I can't see someone like Wynn complaining. The old JPP I think may have been a candidate, but I don't think so , not at this stage of his life.
I would guess it's more likely Behre and Bromley, 2 players with some talent who have consistently under-achieved.
and eff the two anonymous players. either go on the record or shut the eff up
This guy really does not know how to connect with the players which is odd because he's basically their generation

If I were a betting man, I’d guess it’s defensive players spilling this shit to the media

I'd actually pinpoint the secondary room... it's been a cesspool of under-performance and malcontents all season.
The defensive secondary has its worst game in Giant history while their healthy All Pro CB was not playing.
Can't they just fine the player one game's salary but play him, or does that violate the collective bargaining agreement?

Don't know if you are serious about JPP and OBJ, but one of the players is at least in his 3rd season with the mention of Coughlin.

The use of the word GOT, twice where it is not really supposed to be used should be a good giveaway. I am 100% behind the notion that this is JPP.
+1
Try not posting when you're drunk. Might work out a little better.

That's my guess.
