I remembered that Roseanne had made some claims about him when someone was interviewing her and the topic of Cosby came up...

Notaro (who essentially has Louis to "thank") for her big break and her television program all but said the rumors were true about him. Comedian Jen Kirkman accused him and then retracted it and Gawker had this blind piece from 2012 which everyone took to be about Louis CK

"We've heard from several sources that this shameless funnyman whips it out at the most inopportune moments, often at times when his female companions have expressed no interest in watching him go at it. A representative example: At the Aspen Comedy Festival a few years ago, he invited a female comedy duo back to his hotel room. The two ladies gladly joined him, and offered him some weed. He turned it down, but asked if it would be OK if he took his dick out.

Thinking he was joking (that's exactly the kind of thing this guy would say), the women gave a facetious thumbs up. He wasn't joking. When he actually started jerking off in front of them, the ladies decided that wasn't their bag and made for the exit. But the comedian stood in front of the door, blocking their way with his body, until he was done.

One of the ladies was so shaken by the episode that she complained to the festival's organizers about the comedian's behavior. She promptly received a call from his extremely powerful manager explaining that, if she valued her career, she would drop it. She valued her career.

When we contacted the victim to check out the story, she wrote back: "first of all, your facts are wrong. and secondly, i don't want to be a part of this story. i'm sure you understand." When we asked her which facts were wrong and if the incident ever happened at all, she wrote: "please don't contact me about this matter anymore. Breast of luck to you.""
Up to now, there have been no actual accusations

It's all been rumor, innuendo, winks and nods, most of it coming out of the Gawker/Jezebel news team, who I wouldn't trust to report the weather.

Until there's someone willing to step up and say "this person did this to me", nothing will happen.

situation, but I bet there would be a decent market for a sexual misconduct version of a "dead pool" where people could bet on which celebrity is next.

It's like flood gates are open (and they should be - if reports are true), though it seems like this climate is ripe for someone innocent to be swept up in all the allegations.

lastly, there are some weird dudes in hollywood and politics.

Since it's easier than resurrecting the Spacey thread,

the upcoming movie All the Money in the World, which was apparently already in the can, is reshooting all of Spacey's scenes to replace him with Christopher Plummer.

Quote:
Actor Kevin Spacey, who is facing mounting allegations of sexual harassment and assault, will no longer appear in Ridley Scott's forthcoming drama, "All the Money in the World," two sources close to the film confirm to CNN. The filmmakers have taken the rare move of planning to completely edit Spacey out of the film and replace him with another actor. Christopher Plummer will take over Spacey's role in the film, which despite the last-minute change, is still set for release on December 22.

It has to be a power thing with these guys
ThatLimerickGuy : 11/9/2017 1:41 pm : link
I mean Louis CK is a world renowned and rich celebrity. If he really wanted to have women watch him polish his bishop he can easily have his manager discreetly get a $1,000.00 high end escort to his room who would love nothing more than to do that.

While I enjoy a lot of these guys who have been preaching morality from their glass houses for the past 18 months getting exposed as hypocrites to the nth degree I'm finding this whole hollywood scene crazier by the day.

A tall man in a suit approached, relieving her of the duty of admonishing me. He was, in a word, livid. In two words: fucking livid. Red faced, he informed me that JFL is a "family," that Louis is a member of said "family," and that I could ask my question on "my turf," but that this was "our turf." This wasn't "that kind" of red carpet, he informed me—it was a "friendly one," and Louis was a "friend of the festival." Were I to ask the offending question again, he said, I would be ejected from the carpet. But if I asked "nice" questions, I would be allowed to stay. His demeanor aggressively implied he had no desire to let me do so. Tears stinging my eyes, I apologized to the man who loomed over me, the man I later learned was JFL COO Bruce Hills, for my indiscretion. I told him I would straighten up and fly right. I had only asked three comedians the offending question so far—my plans to also ask Patton Oswalt, T.J. Miller, and Dave Chappelle, who I could see out of the corner of my eye making his way down the aisle, were stymied.

(In an emailed statement to VICE, Bruce Hills said that his issue was with the author's approach to asking questions, rather than the questions themselves. "My intent was to keep our awards ceremony as a celebratory event," he wrote. "In doing so, I was in no way defending nor aware of any allegations towards talent. If Ms. Koester wanted talent to comment on the record, we would hope she go through the proper journalistic protocols, be forthcoming with her intentions and request a full interview. We always ensure all talent at our festival have fair notice and opportunity to decide if they wish to address such questions with a representative of the press.")

It sounds like Louis is likely a creep, but that's not really that the best example IMO. I can think of much more inopportune moments than getting high in a private hotel room after a show.

In 2002, a Chicago comedy duo, Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov, landed their big break: a chance to perform at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colo. When Louis C.K. invited them to hang out in his hotel room for a nightcap after their late-night show, they did not think twice. The bars were closed and they wanted to celebrate. He was a comedian they admired. The women would be together. His intentions seemed collegial.

As soon as they sat down in his room, still wrapped in their winter jackets and hats, Louis C.K. asked if he could take out his penis, the women said.

They thought it was a joke and laughed it off. “And then he really did it,” Ms. Goodman said in an interview with The New York Times. “He proceeded to take all of his clothes off, and get completely naked, and started masturbating.”

In 2003, Abby Schachner called Louis C.K. to invite him to one of her shows, and during the phone conversation, she said, she could hear him masturbating as they spoke. Another comedian, Rebecca Corry, said that while she was appearing with Louis C.K. on a television pilot in 2005, he asked if he could masturbate in front of her. She declined.

time. Slay all these perverts, let the assault bubble in Hollywood pop and all these creeps go down with it.

As humans, we have a weird tendency to idolize people we know nothing about because we feel we can relate to them, think they are funny, etc. In truth, we know nothing of these people and I think in 2017 we're discovering more and more the truth that it is all too prevalent that men have received powerful exceptions in a male-power society.
I'm not surprised that Louis CK
PaulBlakeTSU : 11/9/2017 3:33 pm : link
is a perv. A lot of his comedy explores his own perverted thoughts.

The stories about him in the NY Times piece are gross and perverted.

Incident 1: asked two women if he could whip it out and masturbate. They said yes, thinking he was joking. He was not joking.

Incident 2: Masturbated over the phone while talking to a woman. I think this is the worst one.

Incident 3: Asked a woman if they could go to his dressing room so he could masturbate in front of her. She said no, he didn't and said he had issues.

Incident 4: Asked a woman if she would watch him masturbate. She agreed.

Again, it's all gross and perverted. He made the women feel uncomfortable and owes them all apologies. Per the article, he reached out to Incident 2 and Incident 3 later on and did apologize for his behavior, though one of them was for the wrong thing.

I guess my point in all this is to separate him from some of these other people being discussed in the news. He didn't expose himself to a woman who said no when he asked if he could, and there are no accusations that he ever laid a hand on any of them, or coerced them into having sex with him, etc.

I think the biggest harm in all of this is if people affiliated with him in powerful positions leaned on these women to stay quiet and that their careers were potentially derailed by not wanting to work near or with people linked with him.

But I think it's a far different situation than cases like Weinstein, Toback, Bryan Singer, Cosby, etc.

Again, it's

would be crushing. Everything I've heard about him in real life (third-hand) indicates that he's a great guy to match his on-screen personas.

I like Matt Damon a lot and so his complicity in Harvey Weinstein and Casey Affleck allegations were disappointing to say the least.

FWIW, Clooney did say he sent a letter of apology to Heston before he died, and got a "really nice letter" back from his wife - who is still alive and could refute that if it weren't true.
