What a slate of games!

Sparty vs. Buckeyes @ noon.
OSU vs. Iowa State @ noon.
Dawgs travel to Auburn to face the Tigers @ 3:30.
Badgers host the Hawkeyes @ 3:30.
'Bama @ Mississippi State @ 7.
TCU invades Norman @ 8.

And then, the big one IMO: the Irish @ Canes @ 8. I'm already counting down the seconds to kickoff. Go Irish!

PatersonPlank : 11/11/2017 2:23 pm : link
For instance in the Rutgers game today, RU is pounding him even when PSU just fakes the handoff to him. So now PSU just fakes the handoff to him and then runs a different play, RU probably has like 2 guys watching Barkley.

Heisman chances are kaput now.

In terms of draft stock he’s probably taken a little bit but he can build it back up towards the draft. In an opened up offense in the NFL he won’t always get a whole defense stacked at the line.

That said I’m not as high on him as Sy and others are.

So what happens if UGA loses and ND dominates?
hitchchops2 : 11/11/2017 5:48 pm : link
I can't really justify putting ND ahead of Georgia, so is it possible a UGA loss drops both teams out of the top 4? The board can't keep Georgia ahead of all the other 1 loss squads, or an undefeated Wisconsin, and that would seem to force them to move ND down as well, even with a convincing win. Interesting potential dilemma.

What? You honestly think that they’d move Norte Dame down if Georgia loses? Haha. Wow. So Norte Dame beats a top 10 team on the road and they drop out of the top 4 because Georgia lost. Got it.

How can they be ranked ahead of them, both with 1 loss? I don't see it. It will all be moot eventually, as Georgia will end up with at least 2 losses, allowing ND to leapfrog them. Top 4 might be Bama, Clemson, Wisconsin and winner of Ok-TCU.

Ridiculous. Notre Dame lost by 1 point on a field goal late. There is less than ZERO chance that Notre Dame drops in the rankings if they destroy Miami. None. Georgia laying an egg this week is on them, not Notre Dame. That game is already built into the rankings. That’s why Georgia is number 1. They WILL NOT move ND down based on what Georgia does.

1 TD loss on the road in the 2nd game of the year. Easy to leapfrog.
Think ND beat Miami (2 beat 1) next week BC beat ND. Miami ended up ranked ahead of ND despite being beaten late in the year by ND (1992 or 93??? cant remember).
Notre Dame will only move up or down based on what they do

ND beat FSU (that was the first college gameday road show). BC with Tom Coughlin and Glenn Foley at QB beat ND in South Bend the next week to cost ND a national championship. That was 1993
Giant Scouts take note of Wisconsin
yalebowl : 11/11/2017 6:12 pm : link
I am biased living in cheeseland. But Wisconsin always has a good Offensive Line, linebackers, and tailbacks. I know Ron Dayne. But the Giants used him as the big short yardage back. That was a mistake. He did not have that kind of talent.

Same here. Giants picking Barkley would be a disaster.
That old ND-FSU fiasco was too far back to really be relevant
hitchchops2 : 11/11/2017 6:17 pm : link
Pre-BCS, pre-playoffs, but I see your point. Just to extend the hypothetical, what if GA comes back and loses by a point or two? They have to move down, but they would have a quality loss on the road (Auburn is a top 10 team) vs. ND with a quality loss at home. Whoever wins the TCU-Okla battle would have a very nice win against a top 10 team under their belt...none of this really matters, I believe it will all work out in the end, just makes for interesting possibilities. BTW, as a die hard ND fan, that BC loss still stings.

Agreed. There's just something unsettling about Josh Rosen. Reminds me too much of Ryan Leaf.
Rosen definitely has huge question marks
hitchchops2 : 11/11/2017 6:57 pm : link
but Darnold caved under the pressure of being the presumptive #1 pick, to the point where he was vocal about losing his confidence. He is not ready for the limelight imo. Just like Rosen, the talent is there, but the mental part is questionable.

BlueManFu : 11/11/2017 7:07 pm : link
And I’d be concerned if he was still turning the ball over like that but he is not, he’s now been playing at the high level that everyone expected. He’s the real deal, and I do believe he’s mentally tough enough for the spotlight- he’s been a multi-sport prodigy his entire life, this is what he’s been programmed to do, he knows it and wants it.
You can't "program" an NFL player, just ask...

Miami should go all the way up to #2. Their defense is savage like the U of old

Teams are starting to drop off. Bama is a machine. Even if they lose at Clemson they just reload every year. What Saban has built after really shitting the bed in Miami puts him up with the best ever. They better pray Saban doesn't want to prove he can do it in the NFL.

Also there still some whining at times about the play off system. Pretty much it work.

Surprised ND got rolled that bad but Richt might be the best coach Miami has had since JJ. Recruiting has never been the issue.

Yeah, once the high schools in South Florida that are the best in the country at prep football see Richt as their #1 guy, the Hurricanes will start to build that wall around South Florida the way they used to back in the 80s
And it's Miami Clemson. I for some

Reason always get Auburn and Clemson mixed up.

Miami has always been able to recruit of its past. They don't have the best facilities or their own stadium, but their reputation still lingers. They just needed a x and o coach. Kids from NJ also seem to love the U. I expect
Them to still get most of their kids from S Florida but w
This quick success under a very respected coach they will be a force again. Didn't take long at all

Their defense is SO fast, arguably even faster than Alabama's right now. I'd take a couple of their linebackers on the Giants right now (think of Armstead and Barrow)
Holy shit.

Just finished watching the ND/U game.

The Irish got their shit pushed in. Wow.

Everyone was talking about the Canes being overrated.

Uhhh. What?

What a complete dominating beat down. That was ridiculous.

Get your fuckin shinebox.

I was nervous for probably the first time since the opener against FSU. Miss St. played a hell of a game.

Jalen came through at the end, though. I love Calvin Ridley. He's going to be a good pro.

I don't really understand why Saban (well, Daboll really) doesn't utilize Scarbrough more. Even Dame Harris doesn't get enough touches. I feel like Bama has the horses to just wear teams out on the ground, but Hurts is the one running the ball more than any of the backs.

Granted, he's got good wheels for a QB and he can make plays - but he averaged like 2 ypc tonight while Harris only needed 8 totes to get near 100 yards. Theres another Harris kid who didn't even get a carry and there's Josh Jacobs too.

Defenses can't stop these RB's. There shouldn't be games like this where none of them even hit double digit carries.

End of the day, though - Hurts got his WR's the ball at the end of the game to get in there and win it.

I do feel like this team is beatable. A team like Auburn would be a tough matchup. Bama has lost a bunch of defensive players to injury and can be scored on. I suppose we'll see.

I wasn't that surprised by Auburn taking it to Georgia - but I didn't think the U would wipe the floor with the Irish like they did. Oof. A lot is still up in the air. Fun season so far.

Auburn 6th.

Looks like there will be a pre-playoff playoff in Miami-Clemson ACC championship game, possisbly a Ohio,State-Wisconsin championship game and a,possible OK-OK State championship game. SEC could complicate things with 2 teams should Alabama lose to either Auburn or Georgia.

weekend worked out as well as it could have for Wisconsin. Should jump up to 5 or so, and Miami and Clemson still have to play each other.

Win and in, all you can ask for.

arc, good point here and it's something that's frustrated me with Urban Meyer and Ohio State lately. Pattern with every time we lose is we forget about the RBs and just run JT constantly. Each loss since 2015 JT has had more carries than the main RB, either Zeke, Weber, or JK this season. Three really good RBs. I don't understand it really, seems like even Bama has been guilty of it but it hasn't cost you yet. It's cost us

Seemed like we finally figured that out this week and both Weber and JK had big days and the Buckeyes wiped the floor with a pretty good Michigan State team team. And while I'm happy with the performance, I can't help but be frustrated with it taking two losses and their playoff hopes likely gone to finally realize the mistake

Fun day of games though overall. It really has been a great season in general
Even in a best case I didn't think Miami was a top 5 team this year
Eric on Li : 11/12/2017 10:34 am : link
but I was wrong. What that front 7 did to the ND oline was impressive. Miami's D has lived in the backfield and beat up QB's all year, but they turned it up against that OL. The offense can be inconsistent but if Rosier continues to play well they have the talent to beat anyone. Amazing that they've dominated these last 2 games with their best offensive players injured or doing very little.
I think it will be Alabama, Oklahoma, Miami, and Clemson....
Crispino : 11/12/2017 11:01 am : link
in that order, when the new rankings come out. in the end, Wisconsin may play their way into the playoffs. Very much up for grabs.

Wisconsin will get in as an undefeated B1G champion because either Miami or Clemson knock each other out
