Belichick, Saban or Jim Harbaugh

Powerclean765 : 11/13/2017 8:14 am
Those are the 3 names.

Before people say "no way" - all 3 of these guys have that Parcells "slip out the back door" mentality in business. And I may get killed for this - but Jim reminds me of the Tuna.
pipe dream
Giants86 : 11/13/2017 8:15 am : link
I would take any of them in a heartbeat
I think Saban is the most likely, but a long shot at that.
I can guarantee you

Jim Harbaugh is not leaving Michigan and Saban is not leaving Alabama. Why would either leave a place where they are treated like "gods?"
BB is not leaving New England and Kraft wouldn't let him go.

I can guarantee you Harbaugh will leave Michigan. He’s a NFL HC, but I don’t think he’ll leave yet.
Harbaugh would be the
Les in TO : 11/13/2017 8:23 am : link
Most likely of the three. He's a smart well rounded guy who could appreciate NYC and he had a disappointing year in Ann Arbor. ban is retiring when Brady retires. Saban won't leave Bama either unless the Giants back up the brinks truck
Not happening
RobCarpenter : 11/13/2017 8:24 am : link
Harbaugh has literally wanted to be the Michigan head coach since he was a kid. He’s not leaving Ann Arbor.

And no way on Saban or BB.
Saban

Quite simple really

You offer Kraft OBJ for Little Bill and drafts picks if necessary. Bring him back home and let him run the whole show. Case closed.

Ridiculous. Belichick and Saban aren't going anywhere. And Harbaugh

is a dooshbag. This would make him a dooshbag and a serial contract jumper. No thanks
you're never getting Belichick
Greg from LI : 11/13/2017 8:49 am : link
and I have no interest in the other two. Saban's never leaving Alabama anyway.
People thinking Belichick may leave NE are delusional
BigBlue4You09 : 11/13/2017 8:50 am : link
There is absolutely NO chance he leaves there to come to this shit storm. Maybe, MAYBE when Brady retires he leaves.
Harbaugh
Sammo85 : 11/13/2017 8:51 am : link
John is more likely than Jim. But I’m not so sure the Ravens will get rid of Harbaugh.
The answer is neither
Aaroninma : 11/13/2017 8:55 am : link
We need a young, innovative voice in that locker room.
Lots of reports yesterday
mmf551 : 11/13/2017 8:55 am : link
that Jim will listen to NFL offers after this year. I'd be all in for him.

Saban is old, even if he did come over, what will he be here for... 5 years max?
Sean Payton...
KingBlue : 11/13/2017 8:56 am : link
I don't know what his contract status is. If he is available, I would hope the Giants would take a run at him. Of course they are winning now and look like a contender for the SB.
Harbaugh has about a 5 year shelf life
njm : 11/13/2017 8:59 am : link
Things are just starting to deteriorate at Michigan. I want someone for the Giants who's welcome will not expire in 5 years.
Why do people want Harbaugh so badly anyway?
Greg from LI : 11/13/2017 9:03 am : link
Wore out his welcome in SF and didn't win anything anyway. Done nothing of note at Michigan. Is a major asshole. What's the big attraction?
Harbaugh is the only possible and its still a pipe dream
BigBlueDownTheShore : 11/13/2017 9:03 am : link
Saban just received a monster contract, and he is not going anywhere anytime soon. Belicheck has everything he needs in New England, and an owner that bends the rules for him. He is not leaving ever.

What are you talking about. Michigan lost almost the entire D and much of the offense to the NFL, this season is a rebuilding year of sorts for a young team. They have 8 wins. How is that deteriorating?
Saban screwed over the Dolphins when the Alabama job came
mikeinbloomfield : 11/13/2017 9:17 am : link
up, why would the Giants trust him? Why would he come here, for that matter? He can get any player he wants. He should contend as long as he wants to. Why would he want to deal with the salary cap, the draft, contracts, etc.?

Belichick is even more laughable. Brady looks like he'll still be good next year, and he can do whatever he wants in NE.

There are no indications that Harbaugh wants to come back to the NFL. He's got a SEVEN year contract there, that's some major stability for his profession.
Jim Harbaugh would fix this team

Harbaugh's whole family, short of John, is in Ann Arbor. He makes $8+ mill per. He'll be there at least another 4 or 5 years and if it goes well, a lot longer.
A little birdie told me so.....

Google searches weren't helpful but he was not in the top 10, so under the $6,000,000 that #10 Jason Garrett makes. interesting note that the highest paid coach is Payton ay $8million per, with BB second at $7,500,000 - I think BB should fire his agent!
You Might As Well List...

You're setting your sights on 3 guys who are almost certainly not leaving their current gigs.

I'd suggest looking towards candidates that are a bit more reasonable. Literally all 3 of these guys are pipe dreams. None of them are going to be coaching NYG next year.

Powerclean765 : 11/13/2017 11:33 am : link
No - we were within a c#nt hair of Saban last year. We just blew it by giving him an ultimatum at the 11th hour.

This is the NY Giants - I’d imagine this is an “it” job if you are a football coach and everyone knows how awesome it is working for the Mara’s.

Its a great opportunity to come here with a clean slate and probably the #1 overall pick.

To Greg from LI - why are we leaving Harbaugh’s Stanford tenure off the resume?

This guy really DOES coach an old school, physical HEAVY HANDED football team. He style is Giants football. He’s really perfect for the Northeast and he is not afraid of the big personalities in NY. I think we’re crazy if we dont at least make a call.
And yes maybe Bill B seems far-fetched
Powerclean765 : 11/13/2017 11:36 am : link
but I am praying there are legs to the rumors between he & Kraft.

If he DOES leave, he’s coming here. Case closed.
John Harbaugh on the other hand
BigBlueDownTheShore : 11/13/2017 11:52 am : link
if he gets canned, that's a guy you bring in.
who gives a shit what he did two jobs ago?
Greg from LI : 11/13/2017 11:57 am : link
Nice rebuilding job there. Yay Harbaugh. So?
Greg - So?
Powerclean765 : 11/13/2017 12:08 pm : link
Its part of his coaching career and he deserves to have it considered in any objective evaluation. He did a great job at Stanford.

It didnt fit your narrative so you disregarded. Fortunately thats not how the real world works.

Theres a reason this “douchebag” is writing his own ticket. He’s a great football coach & has had success at every stop.

If you dont like him, fine, but give him credit where due.
what success is he having at Michigan?
Greg from LI : 11/13/2017 12:19 pm : link
Nick Saban and Urban Meyer won titles in their third seasons at Bama and OSU - Harbaugh isn't winning shit.

I get where you're coming from but what has he ever won? (Not sure on the Stanford days)
I'm not saying to hire any of these guys or not
pjcas18 : 11/13/2017 1:57 pm : link
I think Belichick is not just a pipe dream, but probably impossible and silly to include.

however, by some of your logic with Harbaugh "what has he won?" the Giants wouldn't have hired Coughlin either.

no SB wins, no major BC success (relatively speaking to Harbaugh at least at Stanford and Michigan).

In fact you could argue that Harbaugh has had more success than Coughlin at the point Coughlin took over the Giants.
Harbaugh

What has he ever won? This is what I dont get. He’s only 53. Went 44-10-1 in 4 pro seasons. 5-3 postseason. Won NFL Coach of the Year. Won the NFC Championship. Showed an ability to maintain a high level of play in the NFL across seasons without letting complacency sink in. (Motivator.) Immediately turned University of SD into a winner. Was the only guy who could beat Pete Carroll’s team at USC. Won college Coach of the Year. Took over a trainwreck SF team who hadnt had a winning season or made Playoffs since 2002 and went 13-3 his first year, beating the Saints in the Superdome in the Playoffs. Then went 11-4-1 (lost the Super Bowl by a nose hair) then went 12-4.

He is one of the highest paid football coaches in the world for a reason.

If you dont like his personality I understand, but there’s plenty of evidence that he’s a quality coach.
Greg was is the point of that link?
Powerclean765 : 11/13/2017 2:41 pm : link
My point was the Giants wil pay. $$$ isn’t the issue and La Canfora is speculating the Giants will contact Jim.

Powerclean765 : 11/13/2017 2:43 pm : link
Sorry went 44-19-1 pro coaching record
You questioned someone else's citation of Saban's salary
Greg from LI : 11/13/2017 2:45 pm : link
That's where it came from. Why would he leave Alabama anyway? He makes a fortune and is a living god there. He has 100% control over the program. He's going to be 67 years old next year. It doesn't make any sense.

I'll eat my hat if Jim Harbaugh is ever throwing his tantrums on a Giants sideline.
I questioned Ron Johnson
Powerclean765 : 11/13/2017 2:47 pm : link
saying the Giants wouldnt pay that $$$. They would - and offered to Saban just last year.
$$$ was never the issue for Harbaugh
RobCarpenter : 11/13/2017 5:32 pm : link
He could have gone to the NFL for more money than he got at Michigan. He didn't even entertain any NFL offers before taking the Michigan job.

I get that people don't like him, but coaches are prickly sorts. In any event, he's not leaving Michigan.
