Forgive me if this was brought up in a prior post, but what about his level of responsibility for this pathetic D that has essentially quit? Of course McAdoo as HC deserves the lion’s share of the blame, but what about the D coordinator? We all have a soft spot in our heart for Spags because of the Super Bowl years and last year’s performance by the D, and that’s understandable, but I don’t seem to hear many people calling him out for this absolute horror show by his unit. Am I right? Wrong?
Even though Spags hasn't covered himself with glory, it's not a recipe for defensive success.
The linebackers--ok they got wiped out yet again. Thompson stinks-ok that happens . You miss on an evaluation .
After the corners, the final and perhaps most poignant reason why he should be removed is the deterioration of Collins's play. This guy had a season comparable to Strahan's Dline impact or LT's effect from WOLB. Now he's lost .
I think it's safe to say the shine is off the star.
These damn millenials!!!
The coach of the secondary. The players that are performing the worst. No thank you.

I always liked Spags, but damn this is becoming too coincidental.......he's around more bad defenses than good ones.
The defense improved in 2008 after losing Strahan AND Osi.

Combined with the worst linebacking corps that's not in Cleveland, it's easy to see why this defense has given-up 84 points in the last 8 quarters.
A clean sweep is needed......but if the wrong guy is chosen, it will look like the 60's-70's again....
That said, in the unlikely event that McAdoo is fired during the season, Spagnuolo is the logical choice for interim HC - simply because he has done it before and there's less risk of complete chaos on the sideline with him in charge than other candidates like Sullivan and Quinn. I hope none of them would be interviewed for the permanent job, but that's a different isssue.
I can't shake the suspicion that the Maras consider Mike Sullivan a head coaching prospect. Not sure why I think that - maybe it just comes from a lifetime of watching that family make decisions.
