It truly appears the players have no fear of

losing their jobs. I have to imagine that if cut due to "bad attitude" or "lack of effort" other teams would be hard pressed to pick them up. Of course that may lead to a collusion charge.

I recently reread North Dallas Forty by Peter Gent. One section in particular caught my attention when an OL man wiffed on a block and the QB was sacked. It was shortly after the film review showing this he was cut.

Not sure if this is a result of guaranteed money, the CBA or millenials in general but it seems apparent there is no fear factor in the equation.

I can't speak for others but if I performed my job in such a lack luster way it would be difficult for me to retain my clients.

You should she them in health care.
Look at the contracts
old man : 11/13/2017 11:46 am : link
Of key D players that appear to be playing soft/ business decisions/whatever.
JJ: I think he got most of his guarantee up front and his out year comes up on 1/2/18 and it appears hes trying to insure the OUT.
Apple: 15m and 3 years left...and likely untradeable.
JPP: a kazillion $$ cap hit if he is dumped s hes safe.
Additionally the LB group couldn't be dog catchers in an enclosed kennel so WGAS?
OV: cant judge him but hes just overpaid with a big cap hit if you move on him.
DRC is gone 1/2/18.
Snacks and Collins are workin' but LC is in coverage too much and gassed the last 1/3 of the game to be effective on the run.

Our OL is Suckcity and if Eli was a more mobile QB...all things being equal ...would just sucked more readily.
Eli...been making survival business decisions for 2 seasons and has the big cap hit if they make a move on him( brought him up as a contract example only).
I understand you have to pay the going rate...but better drafting wouldn't force the need to buy talent but just to supplement homegrown talent.
TY JR.
Its kinda ironic....

...that football is a business where folks get fired for not doing their jobs everyday for far less than these rich whiners do...yet on the field side of this business, it seems that you can play like shit and it doesn't matter much.

Oh shut the fuck up.
During a season like this,

Do you think a player like Jenkins cares if you sit him down?

Hell, no.....it's a vacation for him...

And you can't suspend him for not playing hard enough....

The horse is already out of the barn.....trying to create some sort of discipline on this team, is too late.....

An interim coach can do this, to prepare the the players for next year....

So what do you do? You can still hit the players where it hurts, in the pocket......but that takes extreme measures....

Why do you think, Jenkins played like he did yesterday? Has he played like that, in the previous 23 games? Or did he play like that, because of the one game suspension, and because Mac got caught in a lie and did an about face on Jenkins, as far as his punishment, and Jenkins did not like it.....a loss of 800K in salary will create problems like this.....especially if there a different rules for different players....

Guys like JPP, Jenkins, and Apple looked like they were going through the motions.....Collins has NO MORE EXCUSES ! He is being beat....he is playing badly.....the malaise this defense is feeling is spreading more and more each week.....For the third straight week, we have been beat deep over the middle, with no FS there.....That is on Spags.....

It'a quite apparent, Mac has lost this team......they certainly are not playing inspired football.....

Jenkins can be cut next year.....you can hang that over his head in the off season, but it has no effect on him now.....he has to worry in the off season, if he may be cut, because at his age, and with his attitude, there is a good chance some team does not sign him for the 10M per he is making now.... and that is when it hurts him.....

But it's too late for Mac to crack the whip......the Giants need a HC that this team can get behind and respect....Mac is not that guy.....
A lot of these players will be gone right after the season is over,
SterlingArcher : 11/13/2017 12:42 pm : link
you would think they would be playing better to show case their skills for their next team. McAdoo will go down with McVeigh and Handley!
Different era than years past
Fish : 11/13/2017 12:59 pm : link
but these players quit on Macadoo this year. Something stinks in that locker room.

The defense played hard early in the year and the offense hung them out. The defense got exposed, add in suspensions and you have a defense that doesn't care.

The different era of players can get away with quitting because another team would sign them.

But a new voice, coach in locker room and the right leadership can get this team playing at high level.

These guys just don't suck all of a sudden. They hate who they are playing for. Its obvious to me. Jenkins and Collins were pro bowlers and now they suck.....weird.

Therefore I don't buy out of cut any of these guys. Maybe time for DRC to move but this guy are huge for us last year and now he is garbage. I don't get it.

It all starts this that trash Oline and it killed this franchise.Fix that by only keeping Flowers and Jones and then see where it takes us.
New regime will bring a new culture just like when

Coughlin replaced Fassel. Players like Emmons, Strahan, Barber, Petitgout, etc. all complained about the changes. Some to the leave and some players were cut or retired. My guess is certain players will shape up while others will ship out
Players making too much money
joe48 : 11/13/2017 3:42 pm : link
OBJ the elephant in the room started the culture change because he was not handled properly by FO. All his great play is negated by the distraction he caused. Cannot win with a selfish player. Play him next year and trade him. No more big contracts for a proven flawed player.
millenials?
Sonic Youth : 11/13/2017 3:45 pm : link
what a stupid take. If that was the case, you'd see every team in the NFL show apathy like this.
My statement
Bubba : 11/13/2017 3:47 pm : link
on millenials was not intended to be a dis but rather older owners, GMs and couches not understanding or how to relate. I agree that I probably should have left that one out.
Great post Doomster

Jenkins need not worry I don't think there is a team out there that wouldn't want him . The guy has played his ass off for us it's the atmosphere stinks to high heaven .
OV was loafing before the Int . He isn't worth the contract
and neither was JPP but it's JR that got us into this mess
expecting the defense to do a repeat of last season is delusional . This years schedule was brutal and it was already obvious in pre-season that the offense was still stuck in neutral .
There is no excuse not to clean house and start over JR has
failed and put us in cap hell to boot now that there is a mini mutiny going on MacHandley is toast fans are not gonna come out to watch this team get further embarrassed
When the Chiefs Cowboys Skins and Eagles come to town .
