Giants Ownership Issues a Statement; Ben McAdoo Conference Call - ( New Window )
I couldn’t even finish reading his

Q&A. Guy is a complete ass. Dropped the heavy handed line in the first few sentences. I wonder if that makes ownerships stomachs turn as much as it does mine.
And there's your head coach for years to come

as backed up by ownership today .. My football giants...folks!

Mara and company are staying the course..and verified today no changes and are satisfied with this "sitiation"

I think Mara and Tisch want to tank now so they can draft the next franchise QB.

Is anyone still agonizing of the terrible 2003 season that brought us Eli?

The same will be true of this season if it brings us Rosen Darnold

If you took Maras public statement today as somehow suggesting that he meant McAdoo would be the HC “for years to come” and that he’s “satisfied”, you should probably take a break for awhile because you’re losing your damn mind.

It’s actually probably the exact opposite. Whenever an owner needs to make a public statement midway through the season to support his staff it’s most certainly means the end has arrived. It’s the kiss of death.
In sports, votes of confidence

What the hell is he talking about?

"We looked good in practice all week whether it was building the wall, setting the edge, and tracking the hip."

Does he really think tracking the hip is the key to victory?

It’s usually more of a death sentence if you’ve paid attention to pro sports over time.
That wasn't even a vote of confidence

that was just a stop bothering us - he's not getting canned until New Year's Day.
Sounds like he was read the riot act about his statement that he
FranknWeezer : 11/13/2017 7:31 pm : link
wasn't responsible for motivating players, and that they should be self-motivated...

Motivation does fall in my job description. If a player isn’t motivated, then I need to find a way to get him to play.
I can't believe I read that
djm : 11/13/2017 7:38 pm : link
And I can't believe he said heavy handed yet again. It's like the Giants hired a random guy from a lineup and let him learn how to coach on the fly.

This is one fucked up football season.
see a theme emerging from this
mdc1 : 11/13/2017 7:41 pm : link
take advantage of the losses for a new QB (Eli solution), talk up injuries, take advantage of quitters on the field to bolster reasons for poor play. Sadly I think we have not seen the end of McAdoo/Reese and may even use all of the losing as a definition of the process of rebuilding with our 2nd year coach with injuries and team locker room issues.. Really did not like that statement by Mara and his traditional "do nothing" actions. Not a good time to be a Giants fan in the feel good dept.

montanagiant : 11/13/2017 7:57 pm : link
He came out there like he is angry being asked these questions. Completely lacking awareness and seems so in over his head
You see in his review of the offense
RetroJint : 11/13/2017 8:00 pm : link
that he's obsessing about distractions or secondary elements when he speaks about the offense. Who cares about the QB rating ? The goal of offense is to score points . You ran the ball effectively . Seldom had to punt . Had some great catches . And scored 13 points while the score mattered , against a defense that has been routinely a used by the rest of the league.

As for the defense , run gaps or "fits" are non-existent . It's a weird combination of vigilante-like lone wolves and no-compete secondary play. In other words a mob & some slobs. Casillas was "too tired." Do you believe this shit? He's got the TE all the way down the field. So much for the new methodology on repair and recovery .

Then there is the question about the non-existent pass rush. Where is it? Beathard wasn't even that accurate at Iowa. JPP lets Beathard get outside him on a zone read & on a run-pass option near the goal line. Why isn't Pierre Paul playing defensive end when he's lined up there ? Who the hell sets the edge ? San Franciso ran for about 200.

To me I can understand the offense's misery. But at least those guys are trying and there is improvement by some players who were getting crapped on. It's the defense-even with the injuries-that cannot be forgiven . Why has the coordinator not been fired ? That's what I would have asked him today .
Two Words....

Ass Clown
He speaks in these football cliches
bradshaw44 : 11/13/2017 8:42 pm : link
Like he thinks it makes him look smart. It’s like that guy at work that constantly uses phrases like “let’s circle back” or “let’s not waste time spinning our wheels” just because he hears the boss say it. FU$& this guy is annoying.
That interview cannot be read . . . .

That's almost every coach in the league. Some say nothing, others say nothing with a lot of words.

Lots of coaches use football terminology, no doubt. This guy goes over the top with it. He dropped “heavy handed” AGAIN in the opening statement almost immediately. Almost like he’s trolling now. I would actually prefer he was trolling. Would kind of make me respect him more.

If you can find it, listen to any of Tomlin's postgames. He has his own dictionary of cliches he's invented.
I’ve heard his pressers
bradshaw44 : 11/13/2017 10:46 pm : link
But as diver down mentioned on another thread, he has the pelts on the wall to back it up.

But I get your point. I just think BM is trying TOO hard. And in his current circumstances he needs to tone it down and be humble.
I guess you hear whatever you want to hear

Good lord. Please make the stupid language stop...

Track the hip to protect the duke in a heavy handed game of complementary football. You have ONE win dude, show some humility and get to actual work.
As fucked up..
FatMan in Charlotte : 11/13/2017 11:48 pm : link
as this season has been, as long as we have people who can't figure out what public statements mean, even the fans sound more and more like morons:

Seriously, if you heard what was said today and that was the takeaway, there is no wonder why this board is filled with idiotic posts and ridiculous takes. It also shows an ignorance on how the Giants and most teams approach running their organizations.
There's little to be gained by making changes now, this season is shot
JonC : 11/14/2017 8:13 am : link
The best course of action is let the suck happen, get those ultra high draft picks, and start the changes in January.
let the suck happen
Dr. D : 11/14/2017 8:58 am : link
I like it. At this point they might as well print T-shirts with that and post it above the locker room.

"Let the Suck Happen". See you in 2018, with a new coach and some nice high draft picks.

Our performance this year, particularly the past two weeks, is inexcusable and frustrating. While we appreciate that our fans are unhappy with what has occurred, nobody is more upset than we are.

The problem is points on the board especially early in the game .As it was last year poor O-line play lack of a break away RB although Darkwa can run with some power his vision is terrible .
MacHandley had no answer last year and with the injuries it's exponential this year . I have no idea WTF he is talking about building a wall setting the edge ect I see a poor system and a poor use of players there is something going on behind the scenes that we are not privy to .
Hopefully they look at the roster and put the talent on Jerry Reese's shoulders and clean house MacHandley is not coming back IMO there have been too many instances of player misconduct . It's not like we haven't seen it in the past but more so this year than I can remember .
The scathing review by the Pope was epic and management
I will guarantee you they heard about it .
It s remarkable how people hear or read something
joeinpa : 11/14/2017 12:38 pm : link
And have totally different interpretations.

I heard Mara say yesterday: We re not making any changes now. But if things don t get significantly better there will be drastic changes. I. e. GM and Coach.

Others heard just the opposite.
