Blast from the past - Real Giants Football (Part II)

truebluelarry : 11/14/2017 5:40 pm
This one is a real treat, Giants vs Dallas 1981 season finale. Widely known as the the close of "18 Years Of Lousy Football"

I was fortunate enough to have been in attendance at this one.

The video is in two parts. The link here is for the 1st half.

Right! Byron Hunt was a backup, starting for the injured Brad Van Pelt...the defense never missed a beat.
great game

I was a freshman in college up in Connecticut and was friends with this guy who was a big Giants fan himself. We both went crazy watching this game. I was a runner back then and waited until after the game to go on my training run of 15 miles, I was on cloud 9 during that run. Great memories.
I'm proud to be able to say I was there

Mike Friede was my favorite player for a couple of years. He even played for Trump's Generals.
Nice!
Eli Wilson : 11/14/2017 6:53 pm : link
Rob Carpenter was my first ever favorite Giant. I switched to LT the next year, but Rob was #1.
Can we have

Players all different at that time then today now we have players who believe they are professional actors more than players.
I'm home from work, sick in bed

I'm watching this mother today!

I remember it like it was yesterday. But the funny this is that we didn't clinch a playoff spot because it was a Saturday game; we needed the Jets to beat the Packers in order to get in, and voila, it happened the next day.
I cried after that game.

And still, we needed the Jets the next day.

You thought you were pissed at Lawrence Tynes in Green Bay?
Imagine how we felt about "The Nose" until he made that last kick.

Yeah, linebackers.
Was in attendance - 16 at the time, I cried too...

...many in the crowd did - definitely the biggest impact of any regular season Giant game I ever saw.

Giants were a laughingstock forever. And they were Dallas' bitch, big time.

If you've never seen the game and have the time - watch it. Wild swings of momentum - Giants shooting themselves in the foot multiple times but just refusing to die.

Thanks for posting it.
Watched this yesterday...

...Awesomeness. Early Madden/Summerall, my son was remarking on how cheesy the graphics were.

The game is awesome as I remember - inept Giant O barely able to string together drives - you want to regain your love of Eli, watch Scott Brunner step back in the pocket, time to throw, deliver a bullet a solid 8 yards away from his receiver.

Brunner SUCKED.

But he made a few throws that day that counted - one to Tom Mullady... a pair to John Mistler.

Fun to see that transitional Giant defense - the old guard - Brian Kelley, Beasely Reese, Terry Jackson, Gary Jeter - mixed with the new.

I imagine I'll be watching lots of taped games like this one as the season winds down.

Thanks for sharing!
