NFT: Questions about buying an an Xbox

Reb8thVA : 11/15/2017 12:06 am
I need some advice from BBI gamers. My young son is asking for an Xbox for Christmas. It would be his first gaming system and since he is young we probably wouldn’t let him play a lot of the violent graphic games out there. He would mostly be playing the Madden sports games. I’m trying to figure out what Xbox system is the best option. I know there is this new $500 Xbox one system out there but there are also older cheaper X box systems out there that might be more suitable. I’m not a gamer so I’m pretty clueless. Any recommendations?
The 500$ you're thinking of is the Xbox one X

Which you really only would want if you have a 4k TV and want a premium experience. The Xbox One S is a really nice buy and is expected to be very, very affordable for this holiday season. And it will continue to be supported so it's not outdated. Both versions of the system play the same games.

If it's for a young child, may I recommend the Nintendo switch? I believe it's getting all the sports games as well.
Thanks

second the Switch for a younger person, but it's a pretty great console that's been getting better. But if you go XBox then you don't need the new One X 4K model. Bundles for the Xbox One S seem to range around 250 to 300, and Black Friday is coming up soon.

the Xbox One on Black Friday for $180. That's all you really need.
Not knowing how young your son is

I can only speak what we have for my 8 yr old. We have the xbox one and there are a number of games he loves and that are age appropriate. Minecraft, Rocket League, and Lego Worlds are all excellent. While I agree a Nintendo Switch may have more options, if he asked for an Xbox, he may be disappointed with the substitution. Good Luck.
I have an XBOX One

my 8 year old and I play some games on it but the problem has been a lack of kid appropriate games. I got him a Switch that I will give him for Christmas. Much better game selection for him and it's a portable console so he can bring it to a friends house and play or take it on long trips. I think it's a better option for sure.
I have xbox, ps4 and switch all in my house, lol - don't judge

The switch is great but the thing about getting it for your son now is that it is not good for online play. My son uses his xbox and mostly a PS4 (which we ended up getting him for xmas last year strictly because he wanted to play MLB the show. With these, he plays with his friends online. Switch doesn't really offer a good version of that, at least yet.

So, if you get him a switch in a few years he may want to be able to play with his friends and be disappointed if they are all using xbox or ps4.
Battlefield 1 and titanfall 2...

friends all have the Xbox then get him the Xbox one you can get them for about 200 dollars these days. The switch is nice and all but it sucks for online play and I am not sure it has all the sports games. My daughter is 6 and loves Mine Craft and plays with her friends and cousins who live all over the country anytime the weather is bad there are plenty of age appropriate games you just have to look for them.

Does Battlefield 1 include or center around a 1 person story line with missions?

^ This. Your son wants to play GTA just like his friends do. Violent games should be embraced not censored. They're games, not training simulations.

Both do and I agree with the recommendation. I really enjoyed Titanfall2. Call of Duty WW2 which just came out has an excellent campaign in it also

Maybe let him decide what is appropriate for his own children? Thanks.

I didn't decide anything for him you miserable sjw WEAKLING. I merely offered an opinion on a topic that is being discussed. If there is no freedom of speech here I have no reason to visit or be a patron on this BB. Again, dont feel cornered into buying a LAME nintendo switch. There are parental features on the XBOX. Also, you could download and demo any games that you deem questionable and play them first if you choose to protect your child and be a good parent. <3
It's all about what his friends play....
Racer : 11/15/2017 11:26 am : link
...and what they'll play together.

If they rotate between just a few games, hard drive space is less of a premium. If they switch to flavor of the month, the opposite is true.

I originally went Xbox 360 because that's the way my nephew went, along with his friends, and we play Madden h2h regularly on XboxOne. He plays shooters with his friends; Rainbow Six etc. as well as FIFA and Madden.

In the office I have a 100% PS4 crew and will be purchasing something on a Black Friday deal with an eye towards Madden 18, Gran-Turismo/Sport and if you've got a PS4 you gotta have 'MLB The Show'. Walmart will have a good 1TB Ps4 discount plus a gift card so I'd bet there's a comparable XboxOne deal.

If you're near a Microsoft store go there. It’s 179.99 for the bundle plus another free game. It won’t be as crowded as target Walmart or best buy

The trolling is strong with this one. Any idea on whose dupe it is?

If you have a Live subscription you can get a lot of kid content for free (the 360 stuff) .... I suggest an external hard drive
