I think there's a chance. Here's what Sully said when asked:
Quote:
Q: Is T Chad Wheeler ready to step in there if he needs to?
A: Yeah. We’ve had a lot of guys working all year at all the positions, so you guys know I can’t talk about who’s playing, who’s starting, anything like that. We’ll have a group out there that’ll be ready to compete and we’ll be ready to go.
Q: Can you comment…
A: There’s a bunch of them.
Q: Can you comment on how T Chad Wheeler has come along?
A: He’s been a guy since he’s been here – very athletic, has the feet that you like that you’ve seen all through training camp. We saw that in some of his preseason games and there’s a, believe it or not, unlike most of the typical southern Californians, too cool, surfer-type, he’s got a mean streak to him and you see that at times. He’s progressing nicely. He’s really had work at various positions to try to mix all those guys up around the offensive line both – not just on one side or the other, but even working some at guard. So, he’s been progressing nicely.
I think the "Yeah" part is not an affirmative to the question necessarily, seems like an idiosyncrasy of his - he says that sometimes when he's about to speak. Having said that, this team doesn't bench people very often. I expect Hart will still get the start if Fluker is able to go. If Fluker is out then it's Greco/Halapio vs. Wheeler, and it seems like the door is open for him maybe.
IMO if Fluker cant go...and he picked up the scheme 60%+……… Greco gets the start. Giants way...best veteran ....and WE don't know if they even know how much they worked him at RT...though he DID play a little when The Best went down.
It's entirely possible that Wheeler is a worse RT right now than Hart. Â
While Wheeler probably has more upside, getting his @ss kicked by Justin Houston & Co. might not be the most positive growth experience.
By the way, there are a lot of open questions about the Chiefs' front seven for Sunday. Not that the injuries to Hali, Bailey, and Ford are likely to level the playing field; but at least they improve the chances of Eli Manning surviving the day.
Long term Wheeler could be a starter here ... get him some live action
Also, could he be any worse than the garbage “vet” alternative?

And? He's been practicing at all positions like stated above

This teams badly needs a RB in first round. Barkley or Guice
Draft some 3 down LBs in rounds 2-4
I was just wondering if he could be better than the guy that will be playing there in his stead.
I should have known how ridiculous my question was, my apologies.
I agree unless the Giants believe that playing Hart until he's 30 will only make him better.
Let the kid play.
