I'm sure Roger had nothing to do with this coming out now:)....
Jerry Jones made a racially charged comment to a fan back in 2013, which is featured in a video obtained by The Blast.
The clip, which reportedly was shot at the Warwick Melrose Hotel in Dallas, captures the Cowboys owner offering a message to a bride-to-be named Jennifer.
“Jennifer, congratulations on the wedding,” Jones said. “Now you know he’s with a black girl tonight, don’t you?”
Jones, 75, walks away chuckling after the fan behind the device points the camera at an African-American male. Insiders told the online publication the fan in question is Caucasian.

But I am sure this will get blown way out of proportion.

The problem with your assessment is, the joke doesn't work if he meant the way you portray. While I agree it was in poor taste, but I don't think he meant anything racist about it. IMO, this is the type of thing that has made people yawn when they hear someone being called racist. It's basically used anytime two or more people in question are different races. Automatic racism.

The crux of the joke is suggesting that being with a black woman is somehow worse than just being with another white woman. Most of his players’ mothers and wives are black women. Pretty disrespectful thing to say.

A bad joke indeed, but why does he involve color into the joke?
Or, you could take it that Jones believes only black women are more apt to behave this way.
but it does seem pretty obvious he is drunk!

I can only assume the joke is he is busting on the bride to be, that her husband is cheating on her tonight before the wedding. And with a black woman.
Sounds racist to me.
Because Jennifer is white. The guy asking him to send her the video (We assume perhaps it is her fiance) is black. He say's joking "...you know he is with a black girl tonight." He is jokingly trying to get the guy in trouble. Like saying "...you know he is with some fine girl tonight."
If he meant it as "...you know he is with some trashy, ugly girl tonight." The joke would not have worked. It didn't work anyway, it was a bad joke. He clearly had been drinking, and thought it was funny at the time.
That is the definition of racism. Are you idiots telling me what he said meets that? It does not. All of this crying wolf that has happened about racism, is causing people not to care when it really does happen. Same exact thing with sexual harassment. When it really happens, people yawn.
I use to have a friend who, when she studied, would highlight the entire page of text. When she went back later to look over her notes, she didn't know what was important, because the entire damn page was highlighted. Point being, if EVERYTHING is racist, then nothing is.
Maybe because it's his last chance to get with one, and they're hot. ("It's a compliment!") Or for any of the other reasons mentioned above.
If you really, really think this through, it's a racist comment, just not a particularly vicious one. It's some kind of stereotyping, or something. But if the joke wasn't about race, why bring race into it in the first place? Of course it was.

Of course it does, he is saying that somehow sleeping with a black girl is either inferior or superior to that of a white girl for Jennifer’s fiancé. Again, people can make racist jokes and not be a bigot at heart, which has been my point, but to say this isn’t racist is ridiculous.
I say that despite the fact that I hate Jerry Jones.

You don't get to tell a group that's been crapped on by society what they're allowed to and not allowed to be offended by.
It's in poor taste, and it involves race. That's by definition racist.
people love to jump to conclusions based on their own biases.
saying the word bomb on a plane is not terrorism, saying the word black isn't racist.
or at best you cannot jump to the conclusion it's racist in this case based on that 10 second video. For all we know the fiance told Jones he's a big Cowboys fan and asked him to say that.
poor judgment probably in doing it on video that without context looks bad (and with context might be bad), but you just don't know.
and the black guy (presumably the fiance) thought it was pretty damned funny, so who is supposed to be offended?
Lastly, I hope the NFL suspends Elliott and Bryant permanently for this and forces the Cowboys to trade Dak and Zack Martin to Cleveland for a late round draft pick.

That's Heisenberg principle of racism. Racism exists, but it can never be measured or observed. Whenever you think it is happening, it clearly has to be something else.
If race wasn't involved, he would've said "and you know he's with some hot big boobed girl tonight" - or something like that. That would get the meaning across much better if that was his intent.

what the fuck does this even mean? of course racism exists. my point is you have no clue of the context or backstory for this video, zero. And although racism exists context matters to determine if something is racist or not.
who should be offended by this?
the white women should probably be the most offended because Jones is joking her fiance is with another woman.
After that any offense taken by this comment is due to people's own bias, not something factually discernible from the 10 second video.
whatever, I've spent enough time on this, commence outrage and burn it down
But, in my personal life I have noticed that when a person emphatically tells me that something is "not racist", or that people are "too pc" or "too sensitive", that person is almost always a white guy.
The thing is, white guys are the demographic least likely to understand racism or discrimination as they don't experience it.But sure doesn't stop us from interjecting our opinions and talking out our ass does it? White guys love to tell me all about fucking racism.
As a white guy I've been brought up in a society that tells me that my opinion is always of value, but in the case of racism sensitivities I've learned to shut up and listen to what people have to say. Stop telling people what to be offended by. Listen. Shut up. You don't have to agree with it, just shut up. Your opinion on the subject is neither important or relevant. I know, it's hard wrap your head around that.
The anti-pc crowd are always bitching about people being offended or "whining". Ironically they are the most vocal group of whiners on the internet.

Shut up you white snowflake... what the hell do you know?
It's in jest, but sometimes that's when your true colors show. What his exact meaning is doesn't matter - he's using race to punctuate a point.
That's the technical definition of racism isn't it?
Now, is it offensive? I'd expect if I were a black female I'd not be happy about it.

Just shut up, pj. Just shut up and listen. You’re white so your opinion doesn’t mean shit. You aren’t allowed an opinion. LakeGeorgeGiant is the only white guy that can have an opinion and if you have a different opinion than he does he doesn’t want to hear it so shut up. LakeGeorgeGiant has spoken.

Dude...shut the fuck up.
No one on this thread appears outraged by his words. Yet that gets thrown around frequently when there is any reaction.
Can't it be sort of shitty what he said, and think it's sort of shitty?
I hope more comes out and it's complete fucking chaos.

Haha, exactly. Always hold on to any leverage you have until you need it most. The timing is too suspect to take it any other way.
This Jerry/Goodell war is awesome. It’s like sitting back and watching ISIS and al-Queda go to war with each other.

Shut the fuck up. You big hero because you “listen”.
Problem is, the joke is kind of racist regardless of whose idea it was.
You do understand that racism can exist without implied inferiority, right?
And now we are supposed to be outraged that he dared say someone's fiancé might be with a black woman? Agree stupid joke but people are up in arms about this?
Even if this were done on company time .. and sober ... and neither apply here -- it would get you or me an HR call to please use better judgmemt next time. The end.
I'm more annoyed this was leaked now - by goodell, blank or some small market owner that hates Jones. Pathetic. Like the 'anonymous' giant player about mcadoo.
Seems to me an old, drunk, ignorant dope made a bad, unnecessary joke with a racial undertones and the public and media is giving him a little kick in the ass over it.
Like Cam Newton a few weeks ago. There was outrage over the outrage. But point of fact it was little more than a public spanking over a stupid comment and then basically everyone moved on.
Is it racist? Who knows?
Is it racist? Who knows?
Ding Ding Ding. We have a winner. This is exactly it. Nobody knows what's going on. The whole thing was strange.
