Would owners consider Scot McCloughan

mrvax : 11/17/2017 7:02 pm
as a new GM? If he's sober, would you want him in the running?

I'd bring him in for an interview.
Better him than Pioli, that's for sure

Not as GM

but I wouldn't mind having him in the organization.
He owns his own scouting company

At the very least it wouldn’t hurt to hire them for their prospect evaluation services.

But from what my inside sources in the Resskins org told me, I would be pretty worried about his drinking.

Him the GM.
While thinking outside of the box,
Diver_Down : 11/17/2017 7:31 pm : link
look at Trent Kirchner who is the co-director of player personnel in Seattle. He was a finalist for the GM job in San Fran so he is familiar with the interview process. And he is part of the front office that has negotiated a number of trades. He was a scout for the Panthers for 7 years before Seattle.
What’s wrong enjoying a little

Wasn't the drinking rumor just a set up by the Redskins to discredit him to justify his firing as the power struggle between him and Bruce Allen played out?

That was never proven one way or the other. It's a fact that he's admitted that he's had alcohol issues before. It could just as likely be true that he relapsed as it could be true that the Redskins did something trashy.

I can’t tell you who in the organization told me but trust me he was drinking.
Also, if it was some kind of smear job, kinda wonder why he hasn't

Class of 11/17 is really top notch.
I like him to replace Marc Ross
djstat : 11/17/2017 9:13 pm : link
I'd like to see him paired with Elliott Wolf as the GM.
You guys have a high tolerance for risk.

I always thought there must have been a kick-ass AA meeting in Giants Stadium; they had pretty good results with recovering alcoholics and former drunks. (Kerry Collins, for example.)

I don't know why they'd risk McCloughan, but if they do, I hope he finds whatever kick-ass meetings he needs.

That would be an excellent combo. I doubt Wolf leaves GB though as Thompson is likely to retire soon and he is in a similar situation to DeCosta in Baltimore.

I met him a couple of times. Had a mutual friend and it definitely seemed like a smear campaign from the Skins. Was a really nice guy who just loved to talk football. I would love to have him in the Giants Organization, just might be tough to get him out of his Colorado home.
Wait, if he's sober? Are you willing to have a potential drunk

Sadly, it might be better than what we have now.
