Sadly, the most important game for Giants fans to watch this weekend is at 8PM tonight when Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen take the field in the same game.
The recruiting services demonstrate the quality of athletes that UCLA has consistently brought in, alongside Rosen, however the Bruins are in real danger of ending this season with a losing record. In fact, if UCLA drops their next game it would mark the first consecutive season of losing records in multiple decades. Rosen presided over each....concerning to say the least

I completely disagree. There was an obvious talent differential in this game tonight and the one factor that gave UCLA any chance was Rosen. Rating a signing class without taking into account how they ended up is a bit misleading IMO
Rosen is far ahead of Darnold at this juncture. He has lots more experience at the position and makes his reads and decisions much faster. As I stated before the game, Rosen throws the ball the way most NFL quarterbacks wished they could. Darnold is more athletic, durable, and from what I read, more coachable. A year behind Eli would be wonderful. Rosen could come in and start,if needed.
For those who are unimpressed with both, these two quarterbacks are much better prospects then any quarterback in last year's draft. Josh Rosen would be a top 5 pick in any draft.

Their defense is a joke. And Mora's likely to get canned.
If Rosen is going to succeed he needs a good OL in today's NFL. I like that he stands tall in the pocket but OLs are just not good. There are few OPs in todays NFL that can give Rosen the pocket he needs to succeed. He does a lot of things well though.
I love Darnold's ability to buy time but there is so much he needs to learn like taking a snap under center, working on his drops frok under center, calling a play, etc. The potential is there but he definitely needs another year in college.
To me, I will roll the dice with Webb. I think he is a great combination of both of these QBs in terms of standing tall in the pocket, having a big arm, and being able to buy time when needed. I like Webb's upside.
Although I’d like to see Webb in action first, I could get behind this. I’d try to bring in a few OL via free agency and draft the RB with my first pick.

UCLA's defense gives up 300 yards a game on the ground. It's amazing they even have 5 wins. I have not watched all of UCLA's games, but if you go back to the first game of the season again Texas A&M (the 34pt comeback game) you'll see how Rosen has been overcoming the weaknesses of what is a very incomplete football team.
having Rosen the face of the NY Football Giants for 10 years Â

I'd be careful equating talent with recruiting rankings.

Sure, we could view UCLA’s talent within the context of their competition- the P12 South or the broader P12. I’m a fan of a particular P12 South school, not located within the state of California, so I’m familiar with the talent levels typical at each school. The perception of UCLA has been that it’s a place where great talent goes to languish in mediocrity. Its probably an indictment of Mora more than anything else but other than USC and perhaps Washington, any team in the conference would gladly take the talent that UCLA brings in every year. You’re just not going to convince any fans of ASU, Arizona, Colorado, or Utah that their talent is in the same zip code as UCLA. Not to mention the perennial bottom feeders in the North. Simply put, Rosen is typically throwing to, getting blocked for, and handing the ball off to better athletes than his counterparts on any given Saturday.
My opinion is that Rosen is a legitimate 1st Rounder Â
Outside of him, when all is said and done in my opinion, I think its possible that the others aren't even considered 1st rounders. If we don't get Rosen I would rather get Barkley in Rd 1 and then cross our fingers/toes for the OT from Texas, the OT from ND, or the G in the ND high in the 2nd. I could live with Rosen even though we have Webb, even though I still don't like spending top picks in back to back drafts on a QB who will just do nothing but sit. We have a lot of holes

Recruiting rankings are clearly not the end all, be all...otherwise the championships would be awarded each February (although many fan bases make it seem that way)...but I don’t think anyone would suggest that there is not a strong correlation between recruiting rankings and results. At the end of the day, if a particular school is filling their roster with players that chose that particular institution over many others that have offered (a huge input into the rankings) then it’s intuitive to expect that school to have better talent.
Might deserve its own thread, but UCLA fires Mora Jr Â

I agree. Good post
The kid just knows how to fling it in tight spots. Darnold is impressive, as well. I almost feel though he could use another year in college.
Regardless, both are impressive.
I've compared him to Eli as well.

That’s nice to know I’m catholic Im pretty sure Rosen isn’t Jewish !

A simple google search would prove you wrong.
You can see where Darnold needs work, especially on out balls from the far hash. Long-term I still see him as the better prospect.
Still think the Giants take Chubb or Arden Key.
