I remember back in 2003 your fanhood was challenged by some if you admitted that you were rooting for the top draft pick. So with the benefit of hindsight we have two SBs since then, one in the biggest upset in NFL history. But it came at the "huge" price of being 4-12 in 2003 and not something like 6-10. I wonder if there are people that are still staunchly in the group of "you never root against your team". Or if everyone's on board with a 1-15 season but the opportunity to draft a franchise QB.
I can respect that. I do have a sort of out of body experience now. Like this isn't my team on the field. It's just a mindset. I don't watch anymore since it's tough to watch and root for your team to lose.
This year I literally since 1-6 going into Seattle game I literally did not know how I was going to feel during the game.
I found myself immediately in normal mode if rooting for a win
Rams game began hoping for win, it soon did not care. SF game actually found myself hoping they would lose. At this point with an enticing top 3 pick available can t see that changing.
Meaningful games late in the season are what makes it fun. With that not happening this season, just root for good performance but a loss
But to call rooting for a shot at a franchise quarterback is not only myopic it's ........... well it s stupid.
Fan since 56.
It complicates things to have to bet against a spread.

Softens the blow. Pretty good chance at making a profit over the remaining games. Of course I bet very little so it doesn't sway me. This is a new endeavor for me so it's like a challenge to see if I am right that there is money to be made on a season that goes south from the beginning. I looked back and thought if I had just listened to my head I would have made money at the end of the Coughlin era.

I'm not advocating that anyone else does this... I was sharing what I'm doing in response to your question.
As far as the trade for Eli, I know some will say we could've taken Ben. To me Ben was much more of a gamble. Eli was playing and beating SEC teams. Ben's schedule included teams like SUNY Buffalo. Nothing against them, but no one would mistake them for 'Bama, UF or LSU.
This year at 1-8 is different though. Wins do not accomplish anything in the bigger picture. If the Giants won, I’d be happy for Eli, but that’s it. I’m all in on either Darnold or Rosen. I look at Wentz, Goff, Watson, Prescott, etc & I want a young franchise QB to pair up with a new HC. It’s time.
+ Whatever # is next for those others who agree with this.
Well said.
I look at it like, will this team get better with a higher draft pick than a lower one?
Theoretically yes.....but complicating this outcome, is who will be making the decisions on picking that guy, AND what direction this team will be going based on that pick?
So I will watch games, not wishing for a win or loss, just accepting the outcome for what it is....it would be nice to see certain players, like Webb, get some playing time, which will influence which direction this team may go in....
Losses are better for the future the team than wins , but it would be great to see some of the young players develop and bring something positive out of this season.
I am fukken miserable!!!
When watching the game, can't root for a loss.
If the Giants win against the Division and hurt the others, I'm fine with slipping in draft order. I hate the teams in the East and always want them to lose.
Less painful.
The owners also only seem to notice a total dumpster fire to clean house.
It's not just draft order - they have to draft better.
I just cannot consider wishing for a loss as being part of being a fan. I get the logic though.
Chiefs are struggling too - lot of injuries, significant ones.
Giants could win.
