sounds like he has promise. Left handed pitcher with a 0.65 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings and only 21 years old. He's just 5-11 and 178 pounds, but ranked third in NCAA Division I baseball with 142 strikeouts in 95.1 innings. He's called a "strikeout machine". Primarily a fastball pitcher that can reach low-mid 90's, but hitters have a hard time picking it up. Coaches call it his "invisiball".
Probably not yet. Teams have until Monday to protect their rule 5 eligible players from the draft. there a few they certainly don't want to lose, so expect a few more moves before the Monday deadline.
the other guy (Juan Then - great name) is only 17 -
Open up a 40 man spot and get two young controllable arms in return. The Yanks are loaded with young hard throwing possible bullpen guys. Holder, Heller, Gallegos, German, Cessa, Mitchell, Herrera, etc. How many do they really need when the big league bullpen already has Chapman, Betances, Kahnle, Robertson, Warren and maybe Green if he doesn't crack the rotation? I could easily see another deal or two like this being made. Now they have three open 40 man spots. I would imagine either Austin or Cooper get traded or cut loose to open another spot.
And there are teams who would rather have MLB-ready low-ceiling guys over Low-A or DSL lotto tickets. He was a possible DFA, candidate, Rumbelow was, so this is a nice return.
Rumbelow not one of my favs anyway.
