Baker Mayfield today

kennyd : 11/18/2017 9:57 pm
an impressive performance but do his really classless antics near the end of the game hurt his chances of coming to us? I get he felt disrespected by the lack of handshake at the beginning of the game but man that was an ugly immature display (grabbing his crotch, yelling f*** you) at the end. We all know how this organization views "character", etc. Just wondering your thoughts. Sy'56's review is right on, the guy can play but...?
There's already a thread discussing
B in ALB : 11/18/2017 9:58 pm : link
this very topic just a few posts below if you want to check it out. I
I'm not seeing it
kennyd : 11/18/2017 10:01 pm : link
or at least it's not in the title. If it's in the UCLA?USC thread I'm not going through 250 posts to find it. He's been mentioned by some people (including Sy) as the potential best QB in the draft. Maybe it deserves its own thread?
Typically I’d be inclined to gloss over the poor sportsmanship...
BurberryManning : 11/18/2017 10:03 pm : link
but given Mayfield’s past transgressions and viewed from the perspective that Mayfield has to understand that his every action would be scrutinized from today up until the draft, I’m much more inclined to cast doubt on his ability to lead a franchise. Not to mention however many dropped interceptions from a beleaguered Kansas secondary...
The title is "Baker Mayfield"
B in ALB : 11/18/2017 10:04 pm : link
and it's like two threads from this one. Come on bud.

Search for “Baker” and you will find a thread with substantial contributions from Sy and other well regarded football minds, re: Mayfield and the other top signal callers
Seriously B
kennyd : 11/18/2017 10:07 pm : link
I got nothin'. I have no idea why it's not there but honestly, I've got nothing. I'll see if I can figure out why and delete.
Here you go kenny

No need to delete your thread. Is all good.

Started By vs Last Post
MojoEd : 11/18/2017 10:13 pm : link
You guys are both right; you can't see the other BM post if you sort your posts by "Started By"; you can see it if you sort by "Last Post". Now hug it out. :)
I wouldn’t touch Mayfield until at least the third round...
bw in dc : 11/18/2017 10:18 pm : link
Very immature and a classic Big 12 fake prospect.
No hugging it out needed
kennyd : 11/18/2017 10:18 pm : link
Mojo (although I'm sure B is a fine individual). Yes, I have it sorted by "Started" so I missed it. My apologies. While only 50 years old, working the interwebs is still a challenge Thank you gentlemen.
Interviews will be huge for him
Jay on the Island : 11/18/2017 10:30 pm : link
If it is just a case of lack of maturity then it won't hurt him. If teams believe that this is a sign of things to come then he could fall in the draft.
I fear Johnny Football may have . . . .
TC : 11/19/2017 12:20 am : link
saved a seat for him in rehab.

I love watching him play the game, but can you imagine how those antics would play in NYC? Sports media interviews Mayfield on camera; "Say Baker, could you tell us about that interception you threw?"

"F*** you beatch!!!" as he grabs his crotch. And Wellington revs up to about 12,000 RPM's.
I imagine this also had something to do with
jhibb : 11/19/2017 12:49 am : link
how he felt about the other team:

Not very nice - ( New Window )
After the game
mrvax : 11/19/2017 1:15 am : link
he made a sincere apology for a stupid gesture.
Well, that certainly puts a different light on things.
TC : 11/19/2017 1:23 am : link
In the NFL the might have tossed the DB for that stunt.
He did a very stupid thing.
Giant John : 11/19/2017 6:42 am : link
It may carry over in the draft too. He did have another good game though. Kid can play.
Actually I don't blame
section125 : 11/19/2017 6:47 am : link
him. FU Kansas for not shaking hands at the toss.

Seriously, all this whining about Mayfields behavior and not one mention of the KU players at the coin toss?

Is there some history there before this game?
Who cares. How much maturity do you think
Jimmy Googs : 11/19/2017 7:49 am : link
20 year olds typically display?...
No problem
XBRONX : 11/19/2017 7:50 am : link
If the Giants draft him, Odell can introduce him to Bieber.
He shouldn't have done it
Mike from Ohio : 11/19/2017 8:42 am : link
but honestly I don't blame him at all. What the fuck is wrong with that Kansas program? Between being punks at the handshake to the cheap shots, that team was not deserving of any respect.

It has to be just embarassing to be Kansas alumni or fan today. The KU coach should be issuing an apology to Mayfield and the fans for that display by those little bitches he put on the field yesterday.
Mayfield I like alot but after his antics yesterday.eeeehhhhh
Blue21 : 11/19/2017 8:48 am : link
I don't see him as the Giants pick. Rosen looked good to me though. We'll see.
Did not Engram
RetroJint : 11/19/2017 9:02 am : link
do the same thing? Do you want to give him back? The Kansas captain was a punk for not extending his hand. Mayfield should not have stopped to his level, but boys will be boys.
After watching his apology
Jay on the Island : 11/19/2017 9:20 am : link
It was obvious to me that he knows he messed up. Let's see how he handles himself the rest of the year and does in interviews before we judge an immature kid.
Can’t burn a top 3 pick
WillVAB : 11/19/2017 10:05 am : link
On this guy. Could be a stud but too many red flags.
Not a big deal if you ask me. Comparisons to veteran
RDJR : 11/19/2017 10:42 am : link
professional QBs like I saw on Sportscenter this morning are ludicrous. He’s a young college kid. I love the fire. We need such a thing on this team. Love Eli, but his docile demeanor has always driven me crazy.

^^^^^^^^
This
This is really more silly stuff than . . . .
TC : 11/19/2017 12:34 pm : link
anything serious. Frankly, other than being something sensational and divisive to talk about on sports media, it really matters not at all.

A drunk and disorderly with eluding is potentially significant if part of a broader pattern of behavior, this really isn't.

Let's put it in perspective; he hasn't beaten up his or anyone else's girlfriend/wife. He hasn't shot himself or anybody else, and hasn't murdered anyone. He's not killing dogs. And this is just at the top of the list of what's actually been substantiated for the behavior of some actual NFL players.
we have guys on our team
mdc1 : 11/19/2017 1:57 pm : link
that have and do that stuff.
