I imagine that his mom's health problem also has had something to do with his poor play this year. And good for the Giants to excuse him from practices (and presumably this game) while he and his mom are going through this.
Building loyalty comes from different sources. Winning is a preferable way, but being classy and supportive when warranted is the only way to handle this. Apple is 22 and very close to his mom. Handling this any other way would be very counter-productive

Unless they feel that playing Webb in a shitty group of talent is useless. There's no point to playing Webb with bad protection and no receivers.
His mom's first impression was she got a job due to her son status. Her negative comments about the Giants organization regarding Josh Brown and coming off as a loud out spoken loud mouth turned heads. Eli's appearance as a mama's boy. He was a wasted pick and it would be great if they could trade him and get something back this year in the draft. Might be a great physical talent but he appears to be mentally extremely immature. I wish no harm to him or his mother but for the Giants organization they really should move on hopefully they can get something in a trade.
