Be honest, were you hoping the Giants lost/tied?

Yes

No question.
More reason

Mara probably hangs onto Mac and Reese now. Stubborn.
NO

I have never rooted for a Giants loss, and I wont start now.... let the chips fall as they may... we were never gonna end up 1-15, nor will we be 8-8.. If the next GM wants a qb bad enough they will trade up... shit, take Mayfield wherever we pick.
Actually, I was thinking a tie was possible
Diver_Down : 11/19/2017 4:45 pm : link
and was curious how Ray was going to factor in the tie. Wasn't hoping for a loss or a tie. I'm just glad it was competitive.
100%
mphbullet36 : 11/19/2017 4:45 pm : link
wins mean nothing at this point. Wins give mara more reason to keep mcadoo/reese...wins cost us precious draft positioning!

no one will remember this pick in 2 months...

this is who you want leading the franchise for the next 15 years?
When watching the games I'm hoping
Mike from SI : 11/19/2017 4:49 pm : link
the Giants compete really hard, mostly play well, but lose. But I can't lie, I got excited when Lewis caught that ball.
Sigh..Not the WTOAT
Arkbach : 11/19/2017 4:55 pm : link
Maybe it would have been the genesis of a franchise rebirth.
Now I'm getting excited again (help me God) that they beat Washington.
No. Wins are the point

No.

I don't watch football to see my favorite team lose, and I've seen too many #1 busts to think that out-sucking the Browns is a real solution.
Mara's have plenty of data at this point
idiotsavant : 11/19/2017 5:00 pm : link
Even running the table ought not mean all that much for Jerry and Mac Sully.

Players, yes.

It's long term stuff with an extensive pile data.

The only time I would hope for a loss
CT Charlie : 11/19/2017 5:16 pm : link
is when a team is undefeated and you know they need a reality check in order to go on a championship run. The draft is a crapshoot.
Hell no. I'm thrilled that the Giants beat Andy Reid's Chiefs
bob_in_ec : 11/19/2017 5:17 pm : link
and it would be great to beat the skins, eagles and/or cowboys. I'm a Giants fan(short for fanatic). My expectations for each game has certainly been lowered. But why give up and root for a high draft pick when so many are busts? I started following the Giants in the 50's and have been a fan throughout their ups and downs. I never tune in to watch them lose. Hope springs eternal and today was " any given Sunday"
I'm numb...
bestt : 11/19/2017 5:17 pm : link
part of me wanted a loss because I want them to clean house and get an exciting high draft choice, but part of ALWAYS wants a win, and after this shitshow of a season, part of me just doesn't care anymore...
Yes
The_Boss : 11/19/2017 5:17 pm : link
The win, come April, will be more negative than positive. Imagine drafting Johnathan Ogden instead of Cedric Jones back in the day. Meaningless wins hurt more often than not in the end.

If we lose out on a franchise QB because we go 2-14 instead of 1-15 I wonder what people here will think. But you'll have your slightly elevated mood on one day in your life.

History is filled with mediocre QBs taken #1 overall. Heck, the Chiefs are rolling with such a guy after he couldn't cut it with his last team.
Nope.

And I understand nothing is worse then a 6 or 7 win season, not really competitive not a impact high pick. But I cant root for them to lose.

I jumped up when Jenkins came down with both picks and on lewis's catch. I had fun today and want to win Thursday, but at this point the losses wont hurt as bad
There aren’t many football opinions on this board I respect more
The_Boss : 11/19/2017 5:58 pm : link
Than Sy ‘56. He’s probably forgotten more football than I’ll ever know, which is impressive given my own football IQ. He said today’s game would be closer than we all thought and he was spot on. He’s also said that Webb is not in the same class as both Darnold and Rosen. Eli is 37. Webb, if you believe Sy, likely won’t be the long term answer at QB. ESPN was a Dak/Wentz circle jerk this AM and how they’ll duel for division supremacy for the next decade. The NYG need to get Rosen or Darnold. The alternative is looking up at both Philly and Dallas for the duration of their careers. I’m hoping they lose out.

Another alternative is maybe the Giants could sign Kirk Cousins to a long term deal.
Loss
Dragon : 11/19/2017 6:06 pm : link
I’ll take the win but a loss is much more important than a win at this point. They played inspired football on defense with some rhythm on offense not seen lately and much less 2/3 second clock count downs.

Now before certain posters start saying I’m falling for the espn hype, I’m not. But without a legitimate franchise QB to succeed Eli, the NYG will likely be hard pressed to win consistently enough. The last thing I want the NYG to become is the Lions, Bears, or Vikings who literally cannot win the North when Aaron Rodgers is healthy.

Let the Jets dabble in that QB market.

I don't root for losses. Plus, I am not convinced that any of the top 3 QBs are true franchise QBs.

Anything that (potentially) hurts draft position or decreases the likelihood of a complete house cleaning is highly counter-productive.
Yep
illmatic : 11/19/2017 7:05 pm : link
There are a whole bunch of 4 win teams in the NFL right now. Those fantasies of Rosen or Darnold were pretty premature. With a few more wins, they could end up in the low double digits instead of the top 3. And who knows, maybe they'll even let Mac hang around.

come to an end soon enough for me. I also want to pull up everyone I can from the PS and see what they have. That being said, I was hoping for a tie seeing that they were actually still in this thing at the end. How sad.

Many, many people have said that the Boss's football IQ is the highest and yugest they've ever seen. Years from now we will all look back and marvel at his football IQ.
