I'm with you. We played hard, we played with guts and fire and that was refreshing but yeah we need a top 3 pick this year, maybe 4. The Browns have the #1 locked up, the 49ers are probably 2 and right now we're 3 given our schedule.
This staff isn't coming back. A couple wins here or there won't change that.
Chances are we'll have a top 5 pick. If there's a QB or blue chipper that the GM (whoever he'll be) believes we should get, we'll trade up for it like we did in 2004.
It’s November 19. The team could have easily won at Philly (who is 8-1), TB & took Seattle to the end. This team was NEVER going 1-15. Teams trade up all the time in the draft & with still 6 games left, it’s unreasonable to expect they’ll lose out. The 2004 Giants were 4-6 at this time in the year.
Don’t be shocked if they win Thursday too. Playing a Redskin team who just had a crushing defeat to end their season.
Guys that have pulled their heads out of their (a**es), others who haven't played much, getting their chance is a good thing (even through the pain).
Despite the terrible record, we're not a talent poor team, just need maybe 2 or 3 more top tier players and we''re th class of the NFC East (including Philly)
I have been a Giants fan since 1955, I have never ever wished for a Â
loss, I have always believed the Giants can win any game they play and I always will. Anyone who thinks otherwise should find another team to root for! Giants win out and finish
8 - 8!
I think this win means that Webb will see little if any Â
meaningful action the rest of the year, hence the Giants will not know what they potentially have in him. Not knowing, they will most likely draft one of the top five QB's. I would be happy with either Josh, although my first choice is Allen.
to beat good teams - he stays. Reese picks second stringrs who can beat first stringers on good teams - he stays. And we end up picking 4th or 5th at this rate...YAY?
Replying to the thread:
They really can't afford to win anymore, from a draft perspective.
TB,Denver,Bears,Cincy(though Cincy-Denver will get resolved today), Colts, Chargers are at 3Ws. And Colts and the loser of Cincy -Denver likely stay un-victorious.
Another W could drop us down to #6-7.
That said, the W feels REAL good, proud they put a real good EVERYTHING together.
Wherever they end up drafting lets hope we have a GM that can really evaluate NFLers and pick well.
I'm happy they won and sad they hurt their draft position. Â
Disagree. Unless we are likely to suck balls again next year, which is highly unlikely, we need to secure a franchise QB when we are in this spot. If you believe Sy’56, like I do, Webb is not the talent that Rosen and/or Darnold are. We need to join Philly and Dallas, who now have their long term guys. I’m not conceding the NYG cannot win the division while Dak and Wentz are around, but very well could prove to be difficulty winning consistently without a true franchise guy. The last thing I want is the NYG to become like any team in the North who define a successful season as finishing second while Aaron Rodgers is healthy.

You do realize Dak was a 4th round pick?! Wentz and Goff were top of the draft.

I am quite aware. Dallas found him and hit a HR. More power to them. Who was the last player Reese drafted in the 4th round who became a star?
anyones job on the coaching staff or the front office then it's an awful, awful win.
Just lose out from here. I can't even fathom another year of mcadoo or reese. Very important to lose out.
Today probably cost us one of donald or rosen unless we want to trade up, because someone else will likely trade up with the 49ers.
Just lose out. Please.
Sickening effort from the Chiefs today
I'm in the mindset of playing as hard as you can, letting the chips fall where they may, figuring out the trade for the potential franchise QB when the time comes, and possibly throwing a monkey wrench into Philly's plans when we play them...
McAdoo and Reese are almost certainly gone unless the Giants somehow pull out a 7-9 season or win out (which won't happen)

were taken with higher picks than where Odell was drafted. Draft position is entirely overrated in the crapshoot that is the NFL draft. We devote too much time and energy into this team to not root for victories. You play to win the game!

Deja vu with the end of the Knicks season. Hurt them, will hurt the Giants too. And if you think we can just trade up in the draft, have you been watching Jerry's drafts?
those who argue draft position doesn't matter, I remind you of Cedric Jones.
It’s about getting the pick right, not about where you draft. The Giants were never going 1-15. When we drafted Eli, the Giants were 4-12 with the 4th pick in the draft. In 2015 we could have had Gurley. It’s about getting it right.

There is absolutely no merit to this opinion. Root for wins, it’s your prerogative. But I t doesn’t make you any better of a fan than anyone else. In fact, argument could be made that it might indicate you’re less in tune what’s in the long term best interest of the franchise.
it's highly unlikely that the Giants are going to win another game this season
They are a really bad team - I don't know what the rest of you saw yesterday that gives you much optimism for the rest of the season. That was not my take away -- there were the usual number of muffed calls and poor plays -- and the thing that saved the Giants yesterday were the muffs made by KC in underestimating the wind -- turnovers that were balls redirected by wind that the defense lucked into -- I didn't think that any of the turnovers were more than fluke plays
The Giants played with a little more energy and life -- but I didn't come away believing they were capable of winning more games
WYSIWYG -- this is a bad team -- if they get 1 more win it will be a miracle -- I mean have they won any games they were supposed to this year? Nope -- they've only won the two games they shouldn't have even sniffed at a win. Those two game wins were flukes imo.
Sorry to be a debbie downer - but I do not believe in this team this year - even a little - they suk

The Denver game was no fluke. They are in full freefall. They are the team to watch in the qb market who could leap the NYG for one of the 2 QB’s. Elway and Lynch are close. That relationship could help Denver and SF facilitate a trade for (potentially) the #2 pick.
those who argue draft position doesn't matter, I remind you of Cedric Jones.
Which was a colossal failure on the Giants' part in terms of talent evaluation. It's not like there were only four talented players in that draft. The Giants failed to plan appropriately and screwed the pooch when it came time for their top-5 pick. Teams that pick that high often make bad decisions because they're bad teams. The Cedric Jones pick is a good example of that.
when you are looking for a franchise QB and we are.
Just because we're looking for one doesn't mean he'll be there at the top of round one, or even in this draft at all. From what I saw of Darnold and Rosen on Saturday and the rest of this season, neither of these guys is the kind of guy you'd label a franchise guy. I'm not sure either guy is a better option than Webb, even.
That's why teams should go into drafts objectively. You start thinking you have to draft a quarterback and before you know it you are spending the next five years wondering how you ever thought Blake Bortles was worth a high first round pick.
In 1996 we could have drafted any of the following over Cedric Jones:
Terry Glenn
Willie Anderson
Walt Harris
Eddie George
John Mobley
Marvin Harrison
Jeff Hartings
Eric Moulds
Ray Lewis
Drafting well is about consistently drafting well over a period of years to create a pipeline...not having the franchise saved by one player.
