Not much to say here other than he is absolutely terrific as an analyst, imo.
He does probably the best job of all the TV guys breaking down assignments and responsibilities pre-snap. He might be the best I've ever heard.
Really excellent analysis and commentary. A pleasure to watch a game he's involved in announcing.
Dan Fouts and that other idiot James Lofton on the other hand are complete dogshit.
But that's what you get when your season is in the dumpster.
That said it’s better than most of the other garbage these days.

They're all chatterboxes at the start. You guys won't get the reference but there's a famous cricket commentator from Australia called Richie Benaud who had a simple rule all TV commentators should follow
“Put your brain into gear and if you can add to what’s on the screen then do it, otherwise shut up”
it's a simple rule but my lord it's seldom held to. His eight rules of commentary should be in every box
"1.Never ask for a statement.
2. Remember the value of a pause.
3. There are no teams in the world called 'we' or 'they'.
4. Avoid cliches and banalities, such as 'he's hit that to the boundary', 'he won't want to get out now', 'of course', 'as you can see on the screen'.
5. The Titanic was a tragedy, the Ethiopian drought a disaster, and neither bears any relation to a dropped catch.
6. Put your brain into gear before opening your mouth.
7. Concentrate fiercely at all times.
8. Above all, don't take yourself too seriously, and have fun."
I agree about Romo, his delivery takes away from anything he says worthwhile. After all, it is announcing, and delivery and likeability matter, I don’t want to be watching someone scream like a six year old kid into my living room, even if what he is saying might be somewhat interesting (and I even think his analysis is overrated). I am still waiting for the network to lose announcers and only put on the sounds of the game or at least give us that option.
LOL
He's not watching the play unfold - THEN breaking it down.
He's giving you the view of the QB prior to the snap as he calls protection, audibles or not, and offers the exact thought process of the QB. Then he let's the play go live and he's been basically perfect.
No one else in TV is doing that.
Gruden, Collinsworth, etc are almost amateurish compared to what this guy can do. He's a better analyst than QB. haha.

He's great. Fantastic at that part. It's the post play chat he's a bit too busy with. Even pre-snap he's got a lot of information to impart that sometimes he's talking over the play.
By many, Romo remains, instead (for many good reasons) in awe of him.
Romo used to play Houdini to get some great throws off; Brady on the other hand, is standing tall, all the time, then deftly stepping to the open throwing lanes at the last moment.
As Romo noted, NOBODY does that better.
That said it’s better than most of the other garbage these days.

He needs to talk less.
It's a really great place. Very underrated.
Also, haven't heard much romo, but the little I've heard I've liked a lot

but needs to talk less. He never stops talking and it’s tiresome after a while. Being the smartest guy in the room gets old after a while.

+3. He needs to know when to shut up.
That's not fair, B.
Stan knows when to shut up. He just chooses not to for dickish reasons.
He talks, but it is all educational and the Corona hydration comment was funny.
I've never understand why former players, especially QB's, don't describe what players are looking at and looking for. Romo is one of the few who does that. Collinsworth used to, but does it far less often now. Maybe things have changed so much since he last played, that he doesn't feel as comfortable doing it?
They still had a TO left. What a dumbass.
