Eli had TIME to throw

Elite Mobster #32 : 11/19/2017 10:41 pm
We won the battle at the line of scrimmage. Wheeler has a mean streak. He handled his opponent, then he actually turned and helped his line mates pickup blocks.

The Line grinded out a respectable rushing attack today. Flowers, Fluker , and Jerry were executing blocks downfield, which we never see. As for Jones he seems to be rolling around on the ground. I'm not sure if he was getting destroyed or what.

Lets keep going, It would be great for Gallman to break a long one for his confidence.

Eli didn't know what to do with all the time he had. The receivers could develop into an experienced second group for next year. We absolutely will draft 2 O-Linemen, WR, RB 2DB's LB D-Lineman............

Eli had time to throw on multiple occasions. Hence, some long balls. Too bad the Giants didn't get a "catch" called on that deep pass to Rudolph down the left side line.

True, they did not challenge and it looked good.
One play

I couldn't remember what it was like for Eli to have time! There was one play where he had all the time in the world. I don't ever remember that happening before.
I was pissed that they didn't challenge

McAdoo has a lot of work to do if he wants to remain head coach.
The silver lining
allstarjim : 11/19/2017 11:47 pm : link
Is that the Giants may have a very good line in the near future.

The problem is they only scored 12 points in a game against a bad defense in which the line played well.

The Giants remain a team that is in transition. They will need to turn the page on the Eli era and hopefully get a franchise QB in a disaster season. The upshot is that if they don't get the heir apparent, at least for now, they are positioned well for what appears to be a remarkable talent at RB in Saquon Barkley.

But if they go QB and they miss, it could spell disaster for this team for a very long time. The franchise is in a very precarious position.
Our season went down the toilet, when we lost OBJ ....
Manny in CA : 11/19/2017 11:55 pm : link
Therefore ....

#1A priority, complimentary WR

Jones is a back-up, that's all, so #A1 priority is Center (Richburg is not the answer)

Our defense has all the pieces in place, save a MLB that can cover - #1B priority - MLB

That's three top tier players. EVERYTHING else is gravy

Bottom line, we don't have a seriously talent poor team; just three gigantic holes. Can Reese (or the next GM), find those three players ?

If we can, Eli's got enough left to make at least two more Super Bowl runs.

I wouldn't say it looked good. The replay showed there was a shot he was inbounds. Regardless of Fouts saying they should challenge, there is no way a challenge there was the right call. It was ruled incomplete (out of bounds) and there didn't seem to be any angle that showed him clearly with 2 feet inbounds. It does show 2 feet down, but both were, at the very least, very close to the line. Personally, I thought both were out. But the replay did show it was closer than it looked live.

IIRC they'd burned one time-out and I figured they didn't want to risk burning a second one in a close game.

Are they allowed to challenge? I thought in overtime all challenges were booth challenges. Or did they change that?

It was if as almost...

The winds obviously caused issues in the passing game
ZogZerg : 11/20/2017 7:18 am : link
that and the fact Shepherd didn't play so Eli had no WRs to throw to.

I still don't understand why it wasn't a TD in OT? Lewis didn't catch the ball until after the contact with the DB. Did they explain that on TV?
I think he was touched albeit it was close

doesn't matter...
He did
ajr2456 : 11/20/2017 7:38 am : link
But he still wasn’t very good. For example that screen pass he threw at Darkwas feet. His short game is tough to watch.

Even the pass to Lewis was under thrown and is probably picked if the corner didn’t pull Lewis down
Lewis should of been awarded the TD in OT
Rjanyg : 11/20/2017 7:51 am : link
Engram long catch nullified by a OPI was ticky tack to me and Rudolph sideline play was a catch. Add those plays to stat sheet along with the fact that they were amazing catches and I would say the young receivers look like contributors in the future seasons.

When he gained control of the ball he was laying on the ground and the DB's hand was still on his arm, so he was down by contact.
it was good to see a team of regular guys

putting out effort. Amazing how things turn out instead of a bunch of divas and peacocks on the sidelines more worried about their personal situations. Hopefully the ownership and leaders on the team can use this as a case for future talent acquisitions. We need team players that lean in and check the other stuff at the door.

If he was down by contact the ball should have been at the 6 not the 2 ..the refs were so inconsistent not only on that play but the entire game and season for that matter
I'm just glad...

Eli didn't get anyone killed today. He's had how many WR's destroyed single-handedly because of bad throws over the years. Steve Smith, Cruz and Nicks legs would shiv the fucking QB if they had hands....

Ha ha ha. I personally believe OBJ, Shep, and Marshall all faked injury just to save their health.
Have to be honest and mention it again- one more shot
Elite Mobster #32 : 11/20/2017 12:18 pm : link
Eli trashed all our Elite receivers early in the season with off target high throws. As Fatman said, He has a history for getting receivers legs taken out. Starting with the Cruz career. That is a real reputation in the league. I'm sure the receivers discuss the locations Eli puts a wobbly pass.

Eli has gotten the message and is focused on accuracy. He is aware he is directly responsible for assisting in receivers staying healthy.
I was impressed because he even ran for a first down yesterday. So Eli gets a my respect yesterday. More of a game manager yesterday. I enjoy the game more when there is a good running attack.
Please..
FatMan in Charlotte : 11/20/2017 2:52 pm : link
don't attribute that horseshit take to me.

He didn't injure Cruz - he instead snuck in at night and gave Nicks Compartment syndrome though.

Rat-faced Eli!!

The offensive line kind of stopped being a humongous issue after the first few weeks. But after that settled down, the defense became horrendous and we lost all of our WR's which pretty much killed any hope this season may have had.

It seems to me a passable OL was actually possible with this roster from the beginning of McAdoo hadn't been using the wrong players and putting some of them in the wrong places.

agree with most of your points but we need another pass rusher if we miss out on Barkley and the QB's I think
Bragley Chubb makes a lot of sense the injuries keep reoccurring with Vernon and JPP with not much behind them although Moss is looking pretty good .
Nelso is nother guy I would not mind either have to get stronger in the trenches
The 7 yard pass to OBJ that he was injured on probably could have
Jimmy Googs : 11/20/2017 8:59 pm : link
been thrown about 5 feet lower, but let's not get caught up in semantics...

It's a shame no one could get that message through to a younger version of Eli. We coulda been a contender.
