Alex Smith Question

BronxBombers : 11/20/2017 9:02 am
i watched this whole game. i dont pay that much attention to him or his career, except i do know he loves TE's and RB's. did he have 1 completion to a WR past the line of scrimmage? his wr's just go out there and run routes knowing they wont get the ball?
The guy is terrified to throw down the field

I don't know the answer to your question,
Beezer : 11/20/2017 9:05 am : link
but semi-related, I have a friend who's in his 50s and who's been a Chiefs fan since we were kids (lives in New York). He was texting me toward the end of the game, saying he simply cannot wait for Mahomes to get his shot. Wants KC to scrap the season - if that's what it would come to - and ditch Smith to allow Mahomes to get the reps.
I remember a few years ago
BronxBombers : 11/20/2017 9:07 am : link
he didnt throw a TD pass to a WR all year, that would really piss me off as a fan, or if I was a WR obviously. he is a bum, all he does is just dump it off to a rb or tyreke hill behind the line, and let them to do the work...he does throw nice passes to his TE's tho...or maybe he is brilliant to be filthy rich by managing games.
I was surprised they released
pjcas18 : 11/20/2017 9:09 am : link
Jeremy Maclin.

Other than Tyreek Hill who is kind of a WR in name only, he's like a Percy Harvin type, they don't have any WR's of note.
Alex Smith sucks. So does that Fat fuck Andy Reid

I hope they never win again.
this year
giantfan2000 : 11/20/2017 9:40 am : link
early in season Alex smith was definitely throwing down field successfully
and KC looked like the best team in league
not sure what has happen the past few weeks
He's been much better this year

throwing the ball downfield, but was no threat on a windy day. A solid QB for a marginal playoff team, but not likely to get you 3 playoff wins, especially on the road. KC made the right choice in taking Mahomes.
when they were 5-0

Alex Smith was throwing the ball downfield with regularity

it was even the topic of discussion for the game announcers on one of the nationally televised games they had, how Alex had made that change and the Chiefs were winning games because of it.

He completed a bomb downfield to Hill. One of the picks was downfield as well.
I’m not sure Mahones has better skills or ability than Smith.
Ivan15 : 11/20/2017 10:13 am : link
They didn’t start losing because oF Smith. There defense has been weakened, and the league figured out that they can be beaten when you keep all the play within 10 yards of scrimmage.
KC has apparently had a lot of issues
JonC : 11/20/2017 10:18 am : link
with the OL not playing well the past five games.
He had problems with the wind yesterday
KWALL2 : 11/20/2017 10:34 am : link
But he's a good QB. He can make the throws.

Chiefs OL and run game has struggled the last month.

They also lost the #2 and 3 WRs.

Eli lost WR's 1-4, he still throws to 5-8, hah...smith throws to TE and RB only.

This- particularly in the run game. Once teams shut down the run without 8men in the box, it became a matter of doubling Kelce and keeping someone over the top to keep Hill from getting behind them.

It also doesn't help that as he always has, Reid gives up on the run way too quickly.

Their defense has also been a huge letdown this year- the loss of Eric Berry seems to have had a huge impact.

Smith has gotten in a bad habit
HomerJones45 : 11/20/2017 10:57 am : link
of looking down the field fixating on Hill or Kelce, and he's not particularly good throwing down field. He has stopped looking at Hunt or West in pass patterns when earlier in the year Hunt especially was killing teams in the passing game. Hunt was held to 4 yards receiving, his lowest total of the year.

We scored 12 points and needed overtime to do it. Let's not act like we were running some sort of aerial circus out there

Alex Smith is 21-40 this year on deep passes, 1st in the league

Eli is 10 of 38, 30th in the league
If you have a great TE and your RB's can catch and run and it is
SterlingArcher : 11/20/2017 11:06 am : link
working why would you not use it until someone stops it? Seems like a sound way to run your offense.

At 5.9 YPC, it's more like a game of table tennis.

When you lose 4 out of 5, maybe you should rethink things.

he had the same problem Sanchez had a sailing footballs and and arm that is not strong enough. You could see Smith risk managing the game yesterday.
He had a bomb completion to Hill
B in ALB : 11/20/2017 6:13 pm : link
Over Jenkins yesterday.
He is a highly anti-risk QB
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/20/2017 6:37 pm : link
He'll take a 2 yard scramble over throwing a deep ball. Towards the beginning of the year, he showed signs of changing his ways, but the wind yesterday probably curtailed any thoughts of him getting aggressive.
