I was never into comic books but I used to watch Super Friends when I was a kid along with anything super hero related.
This is my questions and pet peeves:
I thought Superman was susceptible to magic? (Which I think is so ridiculous) Why did Wonder Woman's Magic Lasso have no affect on him?
This also drives me crazy.. Super Hero Power Level Continuity...
In BvS Supes looked like a whimp.. in LOJ he is a complete badass.. handles SteppenWolf with relative ease. Yet it took that whole allegiance of man, atlatians, gods Lanterns and amazons to beat him the first time. The Super Heros could not contain Supes when he came back and it didn't even seem like he was trying.
I also hate the whole kryptonite weakness.. Its lazy writing and I thought in MOS that they were moving away from it.. when he went on to the kryptonian ship. He had to adjust to the Kryptionian Atmosphere. Plus he flew into the world engine which was basically turning earth into krypton... yet they go back to it using that to weaken him so Batman has a chance. That whole fight was garbage. Civilians are his weakness...
With MOS why did Zod and his merry men have Supes power when they were wearing suits to block the affects of the yellow sun and Earths Atmosphere. They should have been normal...only when the protective suit comes off would they gain the power... these are things that drive me nuts with these movies. Continuity.. is it so hard?
Yes, one of the classic Superman weaknesses is Magic, though how venerable he is depends on the magic. That's been true in the comics, as well as in animated features. The Lasso should have worked, but "Snyder".
That's actually true to the Superman continuity. Various writers have changed Superman's power levels in the comics, animated films, and the movies, in order to advance the plot or work him into a situation. I haven't seen Justice League yet, but I'll presume Snyder is saying that whatever process revived Superman also supercharged him.
Think of Kal-El as a battery. His cells store Solar Radiation from a Yellow Sun. Without that radiation, he becomes weak, and loses his powers.
That's been in Superman almost back to the beginning. Comics, Movies, TV (Smallville), etc. I think the Atmosphere thing came from Kandor (the Kryptonian City Braniac stole by shrinking it and putting it in a bottle). Can't blame Snyder there.
Superman has weaknesses. Snyder isn't past messing with continuity (Batman hasn't really used a gun since the very early days. Today, in any other media other than Snyder, Bats will never take a life if there's any other choice. He normally hates using a gun. Again, Snyder.
Snyder could care less about continuity (or a plot, for that matter), IMO.
FYI, here's a good Wikipedia link explaining the Powers and abilities of Superman
