also confirm this on Twitter. Big blow to the O line. Hope Pugh will be able to play.
That sucks

Fluker has changed the way this line has played.

Agree, while Fluker isn't by himself a game-changing player - since he began starting the line has become much more physical and punishing.

Reminds me of KMac - as soon as he started at RT we started really punishing the DL. I really think he set the tone of physical football for us (along with Brandon Jacobs). Fluker has had the same kind of impact, imo.

Get better soon DJ. Hoping you decide to stay with the Giants next year too.
Would like to see Halapio

or even Hart at tackle.

Hart at guard

Hart at guard!! Seen enough of him at tackle.
They should have Hart add some more weight
Jay on the Island : 11/20/2017 6:46 pm : link
and have him focus solely on guard this offseason. Every scouting report suggested that his only chance of success in the NFL was at the guard position. He has a chance to salvage his career if he moves inside.

Hart
rocco8112 : 11/20/2017 7:02 pm : link
should not see the field again. He ia abysmal.

Amazing how this unit can never find consistency.
Hart has no business being in this league,
RottenApple : 11/20/2017 7:10 pm : link
no matter a different position. Enough of this garbage they continue to throw out there each year.

There's a good chance that the 'they' will be among the garbage thrown out this off-season.
Shit

Flowers and Jerry have been our rocks. Who would have thought that?
Yet the coaching staff of this team left this fukin guy
Jimmy Googs : 11/20/2017 8:54 pm : link
On the 2nd and 3rd team offensive lines all summer long. Wallowing in nothing while awful starters on the line ruined this season from the get-go.

Our entire decision making process as to player development needs to be scratched...

Couldn’t agree more. Never even got a chance to see what he could do despite the fact we already knew what Jerry brought to the table - zero in the running game.

Hey man .... it’s clearly Reece’s fault

I think it was more the injuries to the receivers that changed the approach

MacAdoo is stubborn in his approach 11 personnel, and only changed when he had to. Flukey is a road grader, not great in pass protection.

And you know he can't be a guard because.....?

November 2017
Look...I know what I know and I know what I saw
Jimmy Googs : 11/21/2017 8:21 am : link
The starting O-line from last year of Flowers, Pugh, Richburg, Jerry and Hart were simply not good. They were not good individually and they were not good collectively. So what did we do about it?

Ok, i will tell you..decisions were made in the offseason, and that decision was to let this Fab 5 go at it again in 2017. The FO did decide to sign Fluker to see if there was a bounce-back opportunity with him, and take a few flyers on rookies Biz and Wheeler. But what happened?

I'll tell you... none of these guys were given serious reps during the summer or preseason with the first team, and presumingly the collective wisdom of our coaches was that they were not as good individually and/or did not improve the O-line collectively as the Fab 5. Okay so what happened?

I'll tell you...we started the season basically a train-wreck on Offense with our o-line being the main crutch. We couldn't run, we couldn't pass, Eli continued to get immediate pressure and I recall was almost decapitated versus Detroit It only put more pressure on the defense, who after holding up all of last year, probably started to question themselves what the fuck this group of coaches were thinking. And like lots of well-paid athletes, started giving less than a full-effort when the chips were down. The end result...one of the worst records in football.

Now due to injuries, these moron coaches simply are stuck and have to start putting in guys like Jones, Fluker and Wheeler on the O-line. And while the results have not been stellar, they simply are playing better individually and collectively than the Original Fab 5 of 2017. Eli may still be getting pressure but my guess is if OBJ, Marshall and Shepard were all on the field right now with these so called "backup" O-lineman, we probably would be winning a bunch more games.

The moral of the story is this Franchise is making poor decisions in the FO and the Coaching Staff. We needed to change up the line, we needed to bring in true competition, and we at least needed to give serious looks to some of these so-called "backups" much earlier this summer. None of this was done and now we have a lost season.

So you can speak up and support Reese, McAdoo and the rest of this coaching staff all you want that these guys deserve more time and a chance to turn this franchise around.

But I won't be doing the same...

DJ is not an all-pro
BigBlueHens : 11/21/2017 8:44 am : link
but he has been stable in the run game and brings a passion to the line. One thing I noticed on the tape is when Eli leaves the pocket, or when a running back has the ball in the flat, Fluker is hauling ass to get out in front of them. May not be the most talented guy in the room, but he cares and works hard.

He seems to be a true Giant, and I hope we re-sign him for next year. Certainly seems to be a team player.
At this point they need to see what they've got so hell
Dinger : 11/21/2017 9:52 am : link
we'll see more of Wheeler, check out Halapio and why not sign Bisnowaty of the practice squad and check him out? If Eli starts taking a beating, throw Webb out there and see how he does. They've got their two wins. And yes I want to see them win but as a fan I'm realistic and am looking forward to next season. Lets see the youth and what we may or may not have. I think Reese needs to see them to prove he isn't a total schmuck with his picks and Macadoo needs to be realistic and know that playing a 32 year old retread or a guy who was given multiple opportunities and still couldnt get it done(hart) is useless. Its why I think they need to find a kicker. Rosas isn't the answer and you can start THAT search early....
The Time for real experiments was preseason.
Ivan15 : 11/21/2017 11:07 am : link
They should know if Flowers can play RT and Pugh can play LT. An alignment of LT Pugh-Jerry-Jones-Fluker-RT Flowers should have gotten some work together.
So explain to me,
Doomster : 11/21/2017 12:16 pm : link
how Solari gets a pass on putting the same ineptness out there, even in preseason, week after week, until injuries forced him to make changes....

Is there one coach on this coaching staff, that has done a consistently good job?

Let's not make Fluker out to be Chris Snee...

The bigger question asked upstairs is... Why the F@#% did it take injuries to get Fluker and Wheeler in the lineup? That's on McAdoo...

I agree with playing Hart at guard.
He is not a tackle, so we may as well see what he can do at guard....
