MNF Seahawks v. Falcons

trueblueinpw : 11/20/2017 10:14 pm
Gruden and company out West tonight with both teams once having lost a Super Bowl to Pats in head scratching fashion. Exciting first half. Cam Newton in a pimp hat for the half time show and then back to the action on the gridiron. Go birds!
head scratcher...

at the end of the half by Carrol.

Faking a FG with no time left, from that far away?

It’s hard to understand how Pete Carol has had so much success. I guess it’s a fine line between ballsy and reckless.
In fairness to Carroll

Walsh would have missed it anyway.

Is there a big kick this guy has ever made? Career loser

MNF game between two pretty good teams. Thread has 3 now 4 comments. The core fan base barely cares anymore.
And then there are those of us

who didn't watch a second, and clicked this thread curious to see who won.

Guess I'll check NFL.com.

falcon 34. Seahawks 31

seahawks Blair Walsh missed a 52 yard fg that just fell short of which wouldve sent this "well-watched" game to OT
Caught a few minutes of this...

Gruden is unbearable. He really ruins the game for me.
Seattle losing

at home , puts me in the Holiday Spirit. Nothing against Russel Wilson, whom I admire . But that feels good .

At one point in the game, Gruden goes "You've got to give this Seattle defense credit"

THEY HAD GIVEN UP 31 POINTS. AT WHAT POINT DO YOU STOP GIVING THEM CREDIT 40? 50?

Yup. Same here. I didn't even know who won the Sunday night game until this morning.

I turn the sound off. Makes the game watchable not to have to listen to that babbling fool.
The oddest thing to me..
FatMan in Charlotte : 11/21/2017 8:29 am : link
is that people will sit through the games weekly, listen to Gruden fellatio several guys on the field, provide vapid and usually off-base analysis and then will say he's one of the best in the business.

what should be taken away from last night is that the season is a journey. A couple weeks ago, people thought Seattle would rival Philly for the SB. Now, after injuries, they will likely miss the playoffs.
I tried to watch it....

I was bored with nothing else on. Didn't make it past the 1st quarter. Was completely disinterested, turned it off.

Isn't it hilarious when posters think they're adding value with comments like that?

It was a good game - for all the folks above and including the announcers last night talking about all the points seattles defense gave up -- you realize Atlanta had a defensive touchdown and another Wilson pick gave them a short field which they converted for 7 more right?

Ryan only had 190 yards passing (7.0 ypa) and Atlanta ran for less than 3 yards per carry. Considering all seattles injuries their defense held up quite well so praise last night was deserved.

What really fucked Seattle besides Blair Walsh continuing to miss big kicks was Carrolls incompetent challenge earlier in the half Why did a) he challenge an obvious drop and b) they had the ball about to punt why didn't he wait longer (until the clock near 0) to throw the flag?

My point is that Gruden is a shitty announcer and the production sucks. Gruden just blathers out about the Seattle defense without any context - if you hadn't seen a minute of the game before that you would think he is nuts.

I don't know why Carroll attempted the fake field goal in the first half. Too cute.

what's the problem with the comment? I never understood the notion that all comments on a subject must be of praise.

The thread was partly created to discuss how no one was talking about it. With the state of the NFL right now I'd say its perfectly fine to convey why you may or may not watch.

I watched 15/20 minutes because I had Coleman going in fantasy. Outside of that I didn't care at all and caught up on shows from the DVR.

certainly, its a message board - say whatever you want, who are any of us to judge?

I personally find the "i was so bored" comments of very low quality/value, especially when discussing a 34-31 game, but that's just my opinion. I'm sure others find my opinion of that opinion to be of low value, LOL.

so what.
If you didn’t enjoy last night's game...
trueblueinpw : 11/21/2017 9:27 am : link
Don’t blame Gruden. I’m no fan of Gruden but the booth crew was pretty good last night. Gruden was talking up the D because of the poor positions they were put in (as noted above) and also because they were playing without Kam Chancellor and Dick Sherman. Those guys are pretty good DBs and on the Falcons there’s a terrific QB and a guy named Jones who can really play at the WR position.

Did anyone see the hit on Jimmy Graham at the goal line? As a former DB, I can say that was textbook technique and stuffing an All Pro on the goal line like that on MNF is a dream come true for anyone who played defense.

Is there a better home crowd than the Seahawks? That crowd makes almost as much noise as the shitty music they blare at our tuna can stadium. And Pete Caroll’s bizarre calls made for some good arm chair coaching.

Last night was a showcase for what’s right with the NFL. If you didn’t enjoy that game, you might not be a fan of the NFL.
they are lowvalue comments
UConn4523 : 11/21/2017 9:35 am : link
but the NFL is pretty low value these days so they go hand in hand.

Like I said I watched for a bit, and I did see that hit on Graham at the goal line which was awesome. He actually got hit again at the 1.5 yard line and it was called a 1st down which it wasn't - not sure why it wasn't challenged. But I eventually lost interest like I usually do and turned to something else.
I don't want to start another thread on it
UConn4523 : 11/21/2017 9:39 am : link
but how about Julio Jones and his drops that you generally hear very little of. He had a huge, wide open drop that hit him in the hands right between the shoulders on the 1st drive of the game. He's also got 1 TD this year. I have no idea how a man with his skill on a team that's highly efficient in the passing game puts up so many duds with so few TD's.

I've always thought it was Brown, Beckham than Jones as the top 3 WR's in the league but I think I'm not putting Hopkins in front of Jones.
it was a really entertaining game.....
BillKo : 11/21/2017 10:49 am : link
Carrol lost the game with:

1 - the fake FG in the 1st half

2 - using a challenge in which he had zero chance of winning.

I can't see the Seahawks doing anything in the playoffs. They rely on Wilson so much, and with Chancellor and Sherman out they look vulnerable to the pass.

I think that's mainly because we are 2-8.

If we were 6-4, I think there would have been a ton of interest............the game would have affected our standing.
