HOF Semifinalists Announced

As if this season wasn't bad enough, Steve Smith didn't make the cut to the semi-finalists list....
HOF SemiFinalists - ( New Window )
My 5 from the modern era

would be Ray Lewis, Ty Law, Hutchinson, TO, and Moss.
Ray Lewis, Moss, TO, Boselli, Law

Really strong OL class, tough to argue that Faneca and Mawae aren't HOF linemen.

I hate Dawkins with the fire of Dante's Inferno, but I think he's better than John Lynch. But I think all four safeties incl. Everson Walls aren't on the Polamalu / Ed Reed level.
Faneca better than Hutchinson

And no idea how he doesn’t have Ray Lewis in. Lewis is a scumbag but he redefined the MLB position.
Lynch over Lewis

right. Welcome the the 21st century and its obsession with everyone-has-a-list.
First off...

It continues to be a crime that Sterling Sharpe continues to get screwed. It’s getting nearly as bad as the black ball job done on Charles Haley. These writers are beyond uninformed...

Onto this year...Jimmy Johnson is a no brainer. What a joke it’s taken this long. Switzer didn’t win that third SB in four years, JJ did.

It’s time to quit holding LT against him and put Joe Jacoby in. The Hogs are an all time Oline unit and Jacoby was the anchor. He needs to join teammate Russ Grimm.

Lewis is an easy choice...although making him sweat for a year or two for his actions in Atlanta could be justifiable...

Mawae is one of the greatest centers the game has seen. Smart, tough, nasty, and leader. I think he’s one of those guys who made others around him better.

The black balling on TO needs to end. He and Moss should go in together. They were their eras two best receivers.

Law was an outstanding all around corner. Beyond his excellent cover skills he was an outstanding, physical run supporter.

Above all else

I just don't like the NFL system with the finalists and the limited number of potential inductees. As bad as MLB is, the NFL is worse.
Is this guy kidding?
twostepgiants : 11/22/2017 8:07 am : link
Ray Lewis at 6?

The guy was the dominant defensive, not just his position, but the best defensive player of an entire era of football.

I would rate him the second greatest LB of all time after the one and only LT.

What actions in Atlanta? Withholding information from Police because an over zealous prosecutor was out to make a name for himself. Read the court transcript and learn Lewis had 0 to do with it.

I'm not sure Gil Brandt is the one you want to apply that comment to - he's probably the least 21st century football guy out there.
Damn
Giantophile : 11/22/2017 9:21 am : link
there are some good players on that list. Ronde Barber and Hines Ward two great players who might not sniff the hall, huh?

zero to do with it???

It was his friends or people that did do it.

He had blood of the victim in his car. Where did his white suit from that night go???

An overzealous prosecutor didnt make him get rid if his clothes

Zero to with it? Please. He may not have done it but he had something to do with it.

Uh, you aren't suggesting Lewis was an innocent bystander? Are you?
