Hooray, Sy'56 got to do a winning game review!

Eric from BBI : Admin : 11/22/2017 12:28 pm
Kudos to him for plugging along with these during a tough season. But there have been interesting tidbits in each one all season.
Game Review: New York Giants 12 – Kansas City Chiefs 9 - ( New Window )
Great review and thanks

You mention improvement from Flowers and aside from the obvious (ie not giving up sacks), what are you seeing that has improved? He still seems to dip his head which caused a lot of his problems but his kick step seems a lot faster. Do you agree?

You also said you see some deficiencies. What are you seeing?
Will the REAL KC Chiefs, please stand up?

Like Sy said, they started 5-0 and were being crowned as serious SB contenders....since then they are 1-4.....

Like Sy said, Smith does not throw well in the wind....Eli was only a little better....

Agree with Sy on our DE's, they are just not getting the job done on passing downs....JPP is being stonewalled, and OV just has too many injuries to be effective....

And our offense, just can't score....9 points in 4 quarters?

If I told you the Giants would score only 9 points, and Engram would have only one catch, would you think the Giants would have won this game, especially with the defensive effort the previous week? There definitely was a difference in the defensive effort between last week and this week....If we had that effort last week, think we lose to the 49'ers? Is it the players or the coaches that created that problem?

Good news, Dumpster! There's a parade you can rain on tomorrow morning!

JFC, even seeing the glass as half-empty would qualify as optimistic for you.

It really looked to me like Wheeler's bottom half has much more beef on it than when we interviewed him in camp - he looks much stronger too.

Stop looking at the bottom half of football players! ;)

hehe - in Wheeler's case, his waist is practically at eye level. If I only look up I'm prone to trip over the equipment and wires. You should have seen me reaching and looking up, to wire his mic : )

Wheeler is a very tall dude
Thank you ...

... for taking the time to put that together during a holiday week.
Agree with the DE's comment from Sy!
edavisiii : 11/22/2017 6:58 pm : link
Both are good players but we need someone to bring a speed rush from DE or LB to this defense. JPP looks timid in his pass rush and OV is constantly hurt. Moss has some future but we need a guy who can bring immediate pressure off the corner and make the QB step up.
Considering the outrageous amount/percentage of snaps OV
shockeyisthebest8056 : 11/22/2017 7:08 pm : link
played in 2016, I wouldn't call him "fragile". Heck, I'd argue that he was always likely to be an injury risk the following season after being subjected to that many snaps.

Question for Sy... Was Andrew Adams better in 2016 than Darius Thompson has been this year in terms of coverage and range?

I second that question, is Adams a better complement to Collins than Thompson is, especially re: his range?

His hands are getting inside the shoulders of the pass rusher much more frequently. And when a guy with such a strong upper body like Flowers gets that done, it is much easier to control the battle. His confidence and decision making are just a lot more consistent right now. He is out of his stance and ready to pounce, doesn't over think.

He is still over-leaning , showing his face to the ground, making him very susceptible to the double move. He is still overly reliant on his upper body and not consistent enough with his feet.

He has developed since August...and it is a good sign that a guy like that can develop so quickly in a short amount of time. Good sign for next year.

Good question... I have them graded at the same point actually...2016 Adams vs. 2017 Thompson

I think Thompson moves a little faster in coverage, Adams is a little more instinctual.
Thanks Sy
