NFT: A 100,000 NY'ers may have had their identities misused

Dave in Buffalo : 11/22/2017 2:58 pm
I posted this article in my thread on Net Neutrality from yesterday. But considering the fact that "tens of thousands of New Yorkers may have had their identities misused" , I think this is something that we all should be alerted to. The FCC is being investigated for using New Yorkers' identities to fabricate comments supporting the roll back of net neutrality laws. Yes, my thread title is different than what is quoted, but I couldn't fit it in as tens of thousands.

From the article:

Schneiderman's letter continues: "Specifically, for six months my office has been investigating who perpetrated a massive scheme to corrupt the FCC’s notice and comment process through the misuse of enormous numbers of real New Yorkers’ and other Americans’ identities.

"Such conduct likely violates state law& #8202;—& #8202;yet the FCC has refused multiple requests for crucial evidence in its sole possession that is vital to permit that law enforcement investigation to proceed."

Schneiderman wrote that his office found tens of thousands of New Yorkers may have had their identities "misused."

He said in June 2017, his office contacted the FCC to request records relating to its public comment system. He said his office made the request for logs and other records at least nine times over the past five months and had asked multiple top FCC officials for assistance.
"Yet we have received no substantive response to our investigative requests. None," he wrote.
But don't worry

there's nothing to hide with removing the net neutrality

Ex-telecom employee, minute he steps into office he makes business more favorable for cable companies and ISPs, excluding TW. Last year, in some sneaky BS, Comcast began putting data caps on home internet usage. Guess here is to combat cord cutters. I believe all of CA was affected.

Can’t wait for additional pay-gates for Netflix and Amazon.
that's less than I'd expect

that rolling back net neutrality is in the public interest for some insane reason.
