Look for the Giants to employ more three-safety looks, hoping not to become too vulnerable against the run.
The three safety look and the Deon Grant days. I think that was with Perry Fewell as the DC. I think Spags ran a three safety look, too, last time he was the Giants DC.
Thinking about Landon Collins playing a linebacker role for tomorrow's game. He plays his best down around the line of scrimmage anyway. I think Landon is better, but I recently read that Mark Barron was moved to middle linebacker when he joined the Rams. Barron was selected by the Bucs and went to Alabama, like Collins. Barron and Collins have similar builds. Collins lists at 6' about 220 and Barron lists at 6'2" 225. I am not suggesting the Giants move Collins to MLB. But, I can see them doing something like that for tomorrow's game, perhaps.
the Giants also passed on Marvin Harrison and Ray Lewis in 1996. Both better than anyone that went in the top 4.
In 2014, had the Giants drafted higher, they would have taken Watkins or Evans over Beckham.
We can cherry pick examples, and I get no one would have picked Harrison or Lewis in the top 4, but its why slotting in my mind is overrated.
I will grant that qb may be different in that teams today race to the top of the board. But Rodgers and Brady, the two best today were drafted under the 20th pick.
The Giants will be bad enough that if they covet a qb they will move up without hopefully a ton of picks unloaded. If not, they can improve by picking up other players they need and draft a qb next year or later once manning is done.
Giants are still likely a bottom 5 team even if they win two more of the last six. Should be good enough to pick Darnold or Rosen. I wouldnt be shocked if Mayfield ends up going that high as well and would not be surprised to see NYG take him.
Thanks. It's a bit weird writing them given the context of the season. I'm just trying to make them interesting.
