That was the most unimaginative play calling I've seen, even given the fact it was a short week.
Just what was the object of the play calling in the 2nd half? Keep it tied and then make one drive for the FG and win?

Answer: you don't know who us the better play caller because Sully has worked without the wide receivers . It was a short week so they couldn't put much in but Sully should have done something extra for Kerrigan .
It's obvious that McAdoo has replaced as their offensive goal scoring touchdowns with no turnovers . Ben the Good Hait does this frequently . Secondary emphasis like starting the season healthy took priority over having the team ready physically to play. Now we have the no-turnover offense . Try and scored points, guys.
The offense was completely decimated when McAdoo handed him the play-calling duty. Imo, there are things I like from him like establishing the running game and sticking with it. That alone makes me like him more. Still, the results are not there.
and talent of course. Sully is better right now as he's at least trying to establish the run, but it's the perfect t storm right now, as well. Scheme, talent, injuries, dropped passes, poor passes all are contributing to this shitshow. OBJ would help, but even with him it was no great shakes.
evaluate Sullivan from this past game; backup Olinemen, backup wide receivers, running backs that didn't start the season. Eli and the TEs are the only constants.
Hard to judge Sullivan without and semblance of starting WRs Â
But, I don't care about the state of the WR or OL. You still need to throw the ball downfield more often. He'll, even if not downfield, how about a 7-8 yard slant instead of a 2-3 yard slant, for example? That is mostly in the scheme, which is o McAdoo.
with an OL that can protect for more than 2 seconds, run block, and personnel that lets them use different formations, then ask the question again.
I'm not giving mcadoo anything. He's done here. He had his chances the last two years and the offense sucked. Every week it sucked. If the OL or blocking was that bad he could have changed things up heading into week 1 rather than stick with the same personnel formations that did nothing but exacerbate the blocking issues. And he did so while ignoring one of the better blocking TEs in football, Ellison.
Mcadoo is a clown. He doesn't deserve another shot.
If mcadoo has a voice and is screaming from the hilltops all offseason that this OL is in dire straits I have a hard time believing that Reese and Mara ignore his pleas for upgrades. How do I know this? I don't. Why do I think this? Because I'm analyzing the Giants history over the last 20 years. The head coach has a voice here. Always has. If you are a yes man with little to vision like fassel or mcadoo things will deteriorate like they have.
Again, don't tell me mcadoo pleaded with the front office for OL help. And if he didn't, then who is to blame? Who is to blame for weeks 1-2-3-4-5???

That's fine, but the question wasn't "what do you think of him?"
The question was: "who's a better play caller?" And the point is, that's a moot question.
Because with THIS OL, all the WRs on IR, and no ground game, you could have Don Coryell, Bill Walsh, or whoever you like calling plays and it wouldn't make a damn bit of difference.
When your players suck, it doesn't matter what plays you call. And when they're great, you can be vanilla as hell, and call the Packer Sweep, or Czonka or Emmitt up the middle almost every play and win championships because teams can't stop it even when they know it's coming.
So yeah, they can fire McAdoo and Sully -- they already fired Coughlin -- but until the players don't suck, don't expect a different result from the next coach or play-caller.

The offense has been the nfl's worst for two years now!! It sucked before the injuries. Who do we blame for this offense than? It's either Eli or mcadoo or both because it's been awful. Not average. Awful. OL issues or not it shouldn't be that bad with the qb and WRs we have or had.
My point is sully is the better playcaller because I think mcadoo calling the plays now would result in even shittier results than what we saw on Thursday night and the week(s) prior.
well put.
Gidie, what's the difference? The scheme sucks. Playcalling is overrated.

The Ray Handley playbook HAS resurfaced! :-)
Use brett jones’ back and draw routes for the receivers

Need a new OC
Beckham was out and he still relied on 11 personnel all game long.
If mcadoo was calling plays still the offense wouldn't have scored a single point the last two weeks and they don't beat Denver.
